It snacks on fruits, seeds, pollen, and nectar, using its specialized tongue—which is equipped with papillae, or bristle-like structures at the tip—to scoop up pollen and nectar from within plants! Both males and females have banded plumage and are known for their high-pitched, shrieking calls.
