I don't buy many stocks since most on their own are garbage. I prefer as does my financial guy...mutual funds. These are the ones I suggest and always have

Invesco which is QQQ. Fidelity ContraFund which is FCNTX. Fidelity Multi Asset which is FFNOX. Fidelity Large Zero Cap which is FNILX. I also sink a to of money into Apple and Wal-Mart stock just for the guaranteed dividend as well as the splits (4 for 1 and 10 for 1 which Apple in the last 20 years so good profit.)

My investment guys got me in two IRA's with a lot of Vanguard Funds.

VWO, VUG, VBK, VEA, VTV and VBR are good starts.

Dowside to funds is you gotta buy into them. Usually around $2,500 initial investment.

TLDR: Make a free Fidelity.com account. Buy some mutual funds in an individual money market or Roth IRA. And remember whatever you contribute to the IRA (Cash put into it to purchase stocks, funds etc) is tax deductible as well.
