I’m just thinking how Maekar is portrayed as a seasoned unforgiving warrior, the anvil, this mountain of a man swinging his mace, and yet - the only time we see his face soften is with his children. How he named his firstborn son after his own dad. How in the middle of a fight in mud and blood he yells “my boy, my boy”. How he can’t let Egg go because he’s his last son.
He’s such a family man it’s heartbreaking

Maekar canonically has pox scars, which means he suffered from a bad case of pox. He probably visited Valarr when he had Spring Sickness because he had already lost Baelor. He probably sat at Valarr's bedside and told him the story about how he was very sick too at his age but got better, that he'd get better too. Because he didn't know how else to comfort him. Except Valarr did not get better. And Maekar keeps wondering why is he the one surviving all these trials and tribulations, why the gods won't take him instead of his loved ones.

since he grew up in an abusive household, evan had to learn to adapt from an early age. he needed to know how to protect himself from the wrath of his father whenever he did something to disappoint him. after a while, evan found it easy to adjust to the moods/vibes of others.
