My name is Valentina, I battle muscular dystrophy and a rare type of epilepsy on a daily basis. I am a wheelchair user, have a tracheotomy and suffer daily seizures. I unfortunately had to move back in with my parents because I wasn’t receiving enough personal support worker hours while living semi-independently (I had housemates).

I’m living back at home and I’m struggling with the same issue. I require around the clock care and my parents can’t be up 24/7 watching me. So, I got on a list to go to a care facility. However, they are not taking new residents due to the pandemic being so bad in our area.

The problem is, I can die without around the clock care (I.e. if I were to have a seizure and stop breathing or if my tracheotomy needed to be suctioned). We have tried to ask my care coordinator for more hours but 4 hours is all they will give us (that’s the maximum for everyone receiving government care in my province unless you are on end of life care).

We have found a personal support worker that will come assist us over night (that’s when my parents need to sleep) for $50 a night. She is a self-employed personal support worker who is doing this at a very discounted rate out of the kindness of her heart.

Please consider helping me stay safe in my own home until I can get to a nursing home.

Sorry for posting again. My donations have dried up since my dental emergency, and the short term job I had secured let me go due to lack of sales.

I am a bisexual non-binary/trans mixed native (Wetʼsuwetʼen) guy, with severe health concerns including myasthenia gravis (which causes me to be immunocompromised) and chronic fatigue syndrome.

I was recently asked to leave my affordable housing as it was intended to be temporary, and wasn't given my damage deposit as I could not afford to have it professionally cleaned afterwards (despite no actual damage to the apartment). I now pay 3x my original rent, which leaves me with next to no money for food or bills.

I was able to get some money from the two and a half weeks I worked, but it went mainly to savings (which I cannot access unless it is for a medical reason) for my upcoming top surgery because I didn't expect to be let go so early. Because my top surgery is scheduled for the beginning February, finding a new job isn't really feasible at this point.

My previous donations have also been used up for a root canal, crown, and various fillings, as my teeth had become so painful it was hard to even eat.

I have money for rent from my disability, but I currently have almost nothing to eat and less than thirty dollars to get me through the next four months before I can work again. I don't have access to family assistance during this time as I have been all but disowned due to being trans and pursuing surgery/hormones.

Right now I need money for four months of food, medication, and basic toiletries. Due to my allergies, health concerns, and the cost of food in the city, I estimate that I will need between 800.00 to 1000.00 dollars.

It’s kinda hard to believe that it’s not a race thing when in actuality every single fandom calls an interracial ship even when it’s actually romantically canon, a “brotp”. Or when every flirtatious or romantic banter between a poc and a white character is disregarded as “sisterly” or “brotherly”  or “creepy and forced” by the fandom.

It’s hard not to believe it’s a race thing when every fandom vilifies a good-natured or normal poc while romanticizing the abusive white character. It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when every fandom accuses the poc when they’re affectionate towards a white character of being too aggressive or so platonic, but encourage abuse between two white characters and call it “romantic”. It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when every fandom treats a healthy interracial ship like it’s disgusting while freely and gleefully shipping incestuous white/white ships or shipping abusive white/white ships- which are always the most popular in every fandom.

It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when a show or film can be predominantly poc and the fandom still will only care about the 1 or 2 side white characters. It’s hard not to believe it’s a race thing when a poc can be fully fleshed out and the fandom still will make a white side character with one line the most popularly meta’d character.

It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when every poc is automatically labeled by every fandom as the “dad” of the group or the “mom” of the group for no reason other than to do away with every characterization of the poc so they can just be reduced to a simple trope so the fandom doesn’t have to care about them.

It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when every single fandom in existence treats poc characters and even poc actors the same exact negative way. They are always lesser than, always less than romantic, always less than a lead character, always less than relevant, to the white characters/actors in fandoms. When every fandom treats the main poc like a side character and the side white character like the main character.

It’s hard to believe it’s not a race thing when poc are stripped of any affection or dehumanized by every fandom especially when they get in the way of an incestuous or abusive white ship. When these microaggressions every fandom inflicts upon poc are in fact racist. But every fandom tells you it’s not a race thing even as they repeat the exact same negative and dehumanizing behavior of every other fandom towards interracial pairings and poc in general.

One of my cousins passed away unexpectedly at the age of 35, and had been paying back a loan from the bank. About two weeks after his death, my great aunt received a statement from the bank (his mail was being delivered to her house) about a late payment. She called the bank and explained the situation and the only thing a manager could say was “Well, that’s unfortunate. We can arrange so payments will resume in 30 days, that should be enough time to have already paid for the other arrangements.”

On top of the unexpected $10,000 funeral, cremation and burial bill, my aunt had to finish paying my uncle’s $5,000 loan. She’s a disabled retiree, on a fixed income, and could barely afford to pay for her insulin for diabetes. She nearly lost her home of more than 40 years. Fuck the system.

In fact, it is outright illegal to try and collect those debts from a person who didn’t cosign the loan and isn’t executing the will.

My great-grandmother had her identity stolen before she died at the age of 93, and thousands of charges were racked up on credit cards in her name. After she passed away, they called my mother to try and collect. My mom laughed at them, and told them: “She’s dead, good luck collecting.” The credit card asked my mother, “Don’t you want to clear your grandmother’s debts? Don’t you want to clear her good name?” My mom laughed at them again. “No,” she said. “Because a 90 year old wasn’t watching porn with those credit cards, and her name is fine. Don’t give credit cards to old women likely to pass away soon. This is on you.”

Which is how I learned as a young child to always question collection agents, and to never pay off debts that aren’t your own. They often can’t even collect that money from the estate, if there is one, depending on how you write your will and what kind of account the money was kept in.
