This is not coming out of nowhere, but now the show has totally and completely lost the plot. And there's one big reason why: Little Jane. His characterisation is all over the place, and nothing he does makes sense with what he did before, or really what he said 5 minutes ago.
Since the beginning, the show has been mostly telling us JP is an evil dude, but not really showing us. Yes, Tee has a very creepy vibe or whatever, but really, that's mostly what he has going for him. That and the epic soundtrack. Up until now, I've been sort of okay with that narrative. Like, sure, turn my brain off, and yeah, he's so awful, omg, can you believe? (No, I'm not forgetting the assault, but since the show and Janelee have forgotten it along with the other one, I feel like at this point I can forgo that part of JP's characterisation. Not excusing it, though.)
But he literally did nothing wrong here. He didn't even make a deal. He did Jet a favour, as people do for people who are close to them all the time.
So why is JP apologising in the preview? And why is Janelee upset? Don't get me started on the "I'm not worthy" thing, because that was just ridiculous. Since when is he concerned about that? Where did all this pride come from all of a sudden? That's not who he is. He has some sort of line, but clearly that line is immensely flexible, bordering on nonexistent a lot of the time.
So why the breakup? Why the need for space? Why not accept help from the man he claims to love? He accepted the job, both of them, in fact. He moved in before, and I doubt he was paying rent. Or is his pride only triggered when it's about one of JP's favours? Because his characterisation might be all over the place, but one thing we can agree on is that he doesn't like that part of JP's life. For reasons....
So yeah, I'm very frustrated with this show and, most of all, with Janelee. It feels like the writers hit a wall and decided that drama needs to happen at regular intervals, regardless of whether the narrative has actually earned it. And don't get me started on Jet, because honestly, it's taking all I have to ignore the fact that 5 years passed and the siblings didn't grow up at all. So everything else just adds to my level of annoyance when it comes to them.
