🕊️ A Final Godspeed to Captain Jim Lovell
Today, we say farewell to a legend. Captain James A. Lovell Jr., the steady voice behind “Houston, we’ve had a problem,” has passed away.
He flew into the unknown not once, but four times — Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8, and Apollo 13 — becoming one of the most experienced and revered astronauts in history. He was the first person to fly to the Moon twice… and yet never touched its surface. His missions were marked not by ego, but by quiet courage, unshakable calm, and relentless resolve.
Lovell didn’t chase the spotlight. He earned it with grace.
Whether guiding Apollo 8 around the Moon on humanity’s first voyage so far from home or leading his crew safely back to Earth through the harrowing crisis of Apollo 13, Lovell was the kind of hero we rarely see — the kind who made leadership look like listening, and bravery look like calm.
He reminded us that not every mission ends as planned — but even in failure, there can be triumph. Even in darkness, there can be grace. Even in silence, there can be legacy.
Thank you, Captain Lovell, for showing us the stars — and how to steer by them.
Godspeed. 🌍🌕🚀
