i think it's time i break my silence before people start to think i'm dead. as some of you may know, i've wanted to make my big reveal back in july. however, i've been dealing with a lot of unexpected things in my life in the last couple months, and now i gotta say i'm on a grand quest to build something that's larger than life itself. i'll share some more details when i'm ready. now you can be assured that i'm still alive and surviving... i'm not in the right condition at the moment but i am just about to finish recovering from my personal mess and i'll come back to post the things i love to share with the world very soon. lots of love, nia 💚

good morning

i'm sharing this video that could help you explain the reason why i've been so quiet on my main. i think he's explained it quite well. i didn't join tumblr to post regular content, i just wanted a place to upload my creations even though i only create random stuff on paper every one to two weeks and a handful of cool projects are yet to be finished. at the same time, i'm still trying to find my work-and-life balance, having to catch up a lot on uni deadlines have certainly slowed down my progress on a lot of my hobbies and passion projects, and i want to get these off before i can continue building my place on the internet. with my current schedules, i still have some free time at hand, but it will have to take some more time before i can start creating art freely. however, i do have some exciting things planned or prepared that I might reveal starting this july, this includes a major update on my personal website, and a certain event i'm taking part in 👀 so yeah, it's a truth that i've been very quiet on social media, but rest assured i'm still as productive as i'm still "cooking" and learning a lot of new things along the way 😉 - nia

greetings once again: a little update... now where are my soccer fans at? ⚽👀

hey y'all, nia here, it's been months since i posted... would you like to hear a story? not sure if this is going to last but i may be a soccer/football fan now... or at the very least feeling nostalgic for it. it's quite funny because i was never interested in soccer myself, but i do have fond memories of experiencing the world cup hype where i live, and i remember having a few soccer fans in my neighborhood. part of this story has something to do my growing interest in german culture over the past few years. i'll tell you about that as well in another time. so, i was 10 years old when germany won the world cup last time, and while i wasn't actively following the games, i did remember the 7-1 semifinal becoming a meme and hearing götze's name every so often in the news back then... (10-year-old me had almost no idea why he was in the news, lol) also, i remembered seeing those winner group photos where the all the goalkeepers wore that one (ugly but catchy) shade of green. fast forward to this year and a couple months ago i had the chance to watch the euros with my german friends. it was my first soccer watch party in years and it was my first time watching soccer with my close friends :) so as i was watching the games i noticed that along a bunch of new names in germany's team, there were a few familiar names from 10 years ago: müller and kroos (and that time i had no idea and i certainly didn't think for once that this would be their last tournament as a team) but one name stood out to me more than others: manuel neuer. 🧤 i guess my friends were all nostalgic for him since they would occasionally talk about him and recall his many achievements, joke about him a lot so that he became a bit of a meme among my friend circle, and at that point he instantly became my favorite goalkeeper. (plus, he looks super cute too...🥺)

yeah i have to admit, for a moment i may have gone crazy for him (he certainly looks older now but i kid you not, i would yell his name every time he appeared on camera during the euros, silly me) here comes the sad part though: 10 years is quite a long time in a soccer player's career, and it seems a lot of them have retired or are retiring due to their age, so it may come as a surprise for some that some of the old gang from the world cup 10 years ago were still playing in the euros. with the last players from back then - including the lovely keeper neuer himself - having announced their retirement from the german team by the time i started writing this post, the days of the world cup winners are pretty much over. god, i feel old every time i see photos of germany's world cup team this year's euros have left me with some beautiful memories, and made me a new soccer fan who's also nostalgic for the world cup champions. so, as a homage to this goalkeeper and the Weltmeister of 2014 i started a new tumblr blog where i would mostly repost german soccer stuff from the past years and maybe throw in some original content as well. @neuerstalgia - come check it out if you want ^_^ and, i said i would bring more content to my main, but i have to admit i wasn't being very productive these days. and it's not like i don't have anything to show - rather the opposite - i have been making stuff for my page but i often leave them unfinished, to the point where i just have too many drafts lying around. but i'll be a responsible citizen and finish them all 'cause i sure do have a lot of things and ideas i'd like to show to you. 💛 in other words, i'll try to spend more of my time publishing content to my blog. i've got a list of what i'd like to post here, but i don't want to spoil the surprise. but i'll tell you, it's going to be interesting :D so, i end the day by listening to a german song. look forward to more posts, doodles and reblogs from me and hope you all have a pleasant evening.

since it's a big topic at the moment i might as well show you a thing i discovered randomly on the internet the other day:

One of the most interesting collections of teletext pages for me is this one from Germany. Dated 11 August 1999, it contains special pages on the solar eclipse which occurred on that day. So far this is the only capture from that historic day on the Teletext Archive.

Also interesting is that this was captured during the special program Der Tag der schwarzen Sonne, in which live images of the eclipse were broadcast.

I had a panic attack earlier as I wanted to change my avatar: when I clicked save I noticed that for SOME REASON I disabled the custom blog themes even though it said it's enabled, and both my profile picture and "banner" (header image) were reset. Worse yet, for those brief few minutes, the link for my blog just linked me to my profile page and not my custom blog page. I felt like I was going to collapse. But I managed to mess with the settings a bit and I got to my blog customization settings, had to send the image file for the "banner" from my other computer to this one, and reapplied my avatar from there. And, the blog somehow came back to life again. Phew. after all the chaos I be feeling a little like this

here's to the data hoarders! if you go out of your way to archive strange, obscure, little known and poorly preserved pieces of media, you are a literal blessing on the human race. every backup of something made prevents it from being lost to the sands of time. as long as you are not preserving literal disgusting shit you are doing someone, somewhere a favor. you have no idea what random YouTube video or song or animation or game you have backed up that was someone's favorite that they've been searching for for years.keep on filling those harddrives and SD cards, folks, companies aren't doing it for us. they charge us again for the same game we played 10 years ago. keep on hoardin'.

Explanation: The core of the Milky Way is rising beyond the Chilean mountain-top La Silla Observatory in this deep night skyscape. Seen toward the constellation Sagittarius, our home galaxy’s center is flanked on the left, by the European Southern Observatory’s New Technology Telescope which pioneered the use of active optics to accurately control the shape of large telescope mirrors. To the right stands the ESO 3.6-meter Telescope, home of the exoplanet hunting HARPS and NIRPS spectrographs. Between them, the galaxy’s central bulge is filled with obscuring clouds of interstellar dust, bright stars, clusters, and nebulae. Prominent reddish hydrogen emission from the star-forming Lagoon Nebula, M8, is near center. The Trifid Nebula, M20, combines blue light of a dusty reflection nebula with reddish emission just left of the cosmic Lagoon. Both are popular stops on telescopic tours of the galactic center. The composited image is a stack of separate exposures for ground and sky made in April 2023, all captured consecutively with the same framing and camera equipment.

Hey y'all, I'm back 👋

Thinking of being more active on this platform somehow because my attempt at building and hosting my first HTML homepage on the internet didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I recently started a webpage hosted on the indie web hosting site Neocities which is still unfinished. But as of November 2023 I unfortunately no longer have access to it or the entire domain, possibly due to regional restrictions. So, if you can access my page right now and wonder why it hasn't been finished, I'll let you know that this page won't be getting updates anytime soon for a reason. I may look for a way around to get my planned portfolio webpage finished, possibly in another domain, but in the meantime, this Tumblr page will remain my main public platform on the internet since I abandoned Twitter. I will try to upload some content that I originally planned for my Neocities page while I continue to develop my new HTML skills. Expect some new and fresh content here in the future.
