Spoiler-Free Review of the LS3, Out of the Shadows.

For those unsure whether they want to play it after the disaster that was HoT story, here is a spoiler free review of the latest episode.

The story so far is streamlined in a way that makes almost everything make sense. The characters are still very good, and the interactions with NPCs within missions still retains you actually talking out of cutscenes. I’d say those characters that are involved remain as charming as ever, though I did find Rytlock slightly out of character.

There is a new map, though small, it’s interesting enough. It does seem to hurt a lot of people’s eyes and cause headaches though, so be careful about that. Though it will be a godsend to those that need to farm Bloodstone Dust.

Players of GW1 will be excited and happy to see old enemies return, and players of GW2 will be interested enough to see where this is going.

There is some talk about how the Asura have reacted to the discovery of Rata Novus, how the Pale Tree is now, slight discussion about the Pact where your character defends Trahearne’s memory and also you find out why Caithe acted the way she did.

Oh, and it ends on a cliff hanger that even got me excited - which dragon we are facing next along with other crazy happenings with the White Mantle and stuff.

The only thing I dislike is how we still get no memorial or service for Trahearne. It’s like they just ignored him, or forgot about him. At least have us go to Fort Trinity to pay homage to him. He was the Marshal of the entire Pact FFS.

I also dislike how the PC knows what the White Mantle are and all that, even when they are Sylvari or other races. I suppose we are just supposed to know about some cult from the past and their ancient long-thought-to-be-dead ideals, rituals etc.

Oh! And it ISN’T HARD! Even the “final boss” wasn’t too hard to fight. I’d suggest taking a friend if you can, but other than that you should be able to solo all the missions!
