Spock narrowed his eyes, looking the man before him over. "I am commander Spock of the USS Enterprise. I cannot help but point out the last thing you said. Is this a derogatory reference to my ears?" He asked, standing up straighter. It was bad enough that the captain often made jokes of his anatomy and background, but now this Roland was doing the same, even using the same nickname.

Spock sighed and shook his head slightly, frowning in thought as he did. “Well if you will disappear back to your location of origin, then the logical action is to remain here until you return.”

“Really?” Ellie asked, smiling lightly. “You don’t mind if I stay? Or..well…you’d let me stay?”

Spock nodded. "Of course. As I said, it is logical for you to remain here. It is the safest place for you to stay."

“I’d love to.” Sho-Katlan was shocked that he, a first day engineer, could have the opportunity to meet with such a high ranking officer of the fleet.

“When are you off shift?” Spock asked. He hoped it was in time with him, as he wanted to get to know Sho-Katlan. He seemed very interesting and reminded Spock of himself.

Sho-Katlan managed to say, “My shift ends at 8:30 tonight, I can come meet you somewhere if you’d like.” He was slightly confused that Spock was taking an interest in him, but he was incredibly excited to have the opportunity.

Spock nodded. “That would work out well for my schedule. Meet me in the recreational room. We shall be able to speak there.”

Sho-Katlan nodded promptly at him. “Yes sir, see you there.” He smiled unknowingly at Spock. He turned around and walked down to the ship bay and worked his shift.

Spock continued on his way to the bridge. He worked diligently all day and was glad when his shift was over. When he was finished, he moved to the rec room where he waited for Sho-Katlan to arrive.
