I’d love to ask the author some questions.

Is a person with a vagina who cannot give birth also “gentrifying womanhood” when she puts on high heels? What about women who have never been catcalled, never been raped, and never been abused by their fathers and male partners? How many days must a woman be beaten down before she can put on lipstick without being guilty of gentrification?

How long must trans women be murdered and mistreated because of men’s need to govern their female bodies before “gender critical feminists” realize that patriarchy oppresses all women in different ways and isn’t limited to the nine months during which a body is pregnant?

Specifically: To what authority must women appeal to be granted the privilege of oppression? You?

You don’t get it. The article highlights the patriarchal control over pregnancy as an EXAMPLE of sex-based oppression, not the DEFINITION of it. Even if a female person can’t get pregnant, or doesn’t experience the absolute worst forms of sex-based oppression, that person is still FEMALE and will be treated accordingly by patriarchal society. There’s no authority that “grants” the material reality of being born female.
