what you have to understand is that Abed is not expecting him to come back. not really. Troy pulls him aside and promises he'll be back, but he knows its not likely. a character like Troy doesn't get written off for budget cuts or minor disagreements. no, Troy will be gone now to another show, off doing something big and important. something without Abed. he won't have the time for anything more than the odd guest appearance.
and putting that aside, people who leave don't come back, in Abed's experience. and he's not saying- he knows Troy isn't like his mom, or the kids he'd known in high school, but it's the same story, isn't it? except maybe it's not even that anymore, because Troy is leaving. and there's no story left to tell, no happy ending left to come without Troy there with him.
