I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS. THERE WERE ONLY A FEW DOZEN NOTES WHEN I SAW IT LAST.
Bocetos! Siempre tengo hambre de ellas dos teniendo tiempo de cariño de mamá a hija. Sé que esto no pasa aparentemente entre ellas dos, pero déjenme ser con mis dibujos. :c

Y’all remember when korranation got us to join a marketing pyramid scheme? Rewatching lok book 1 is reminding me of everything that led up to the series as well lmao
You can’t just say things like that and not tell the story behind this pyramid scheme? Korranation?
Oh god I just assumed this was common knowledge, but I guess if you weren’t on tumblr in 2012 you might not know about it. Korranation was basically the official nickelodeon site/eventually tumblr for the legend of korra. Basically it was a strategy to try to spread the word about the new show and get fans involved, so they incentivized users to share these signup links to an email list. Every person you got to sign up earned you a point and “top fans” with the most points earned really random prizes like a signed poster for lok or a hand drawn character from Joaquim Dos Santos. It got so bad at one point that people started using bots to click their links for them and cheat their way to the top lmfao. People like me just went to tumblr and did these really embarrassing click chain posts to get higher up on the list and it was all just a really poorly thought out pyramid scheme-esque marketing ploy
y i k e s, unfortunately I remember this and am also guilty of taking part in the madness 😂 To be fair though, I did get free downloads of the Legend of Korra soundtrack and the entire season 1 of ATLA due to hitting the milestones. So, fortunately, it was not in vain.
@rippledragon linked this to me and a good time is being had.
thinking about this
i think about this once a day
And I think about this once a day.
i think about this everyday too
How about this?
I see you... Hmmm, but I raise you
I see your Azula and i raise you Azula
I see your Azula, I raise you... Azula
You’re right that azula was never power hungry. I think other than being the best, the most important thing to her was being loyal to their father and the fire nation. Over the series, she told Zuko numerous times that he can’t be a traitor to the fire nation, and that was something she put above all I think
Yes, exactly! Which makes her stark contrast to Zhao, the Chaotic. Just look at Azula and Zhao's reaction when they WIN something:
"I am... a legend now! The Fire Nation will for generations tell stories about the great Zhao who darkened the moon! They will call me Zhao the Conqueror! Zhao the Moon Slayer! ZHAO THE INVINCIBLE!"
"We've done it, Zuko. It's taken a hundred years, but the Fire Nation has conquered Ba Sing Se." / "Don’t worry brother. I’ve found the perfect person to leave in charge. Someone who will execute the Fire Lord’s will mercilessly and without question.”
Azula conquered a city with no blood nor weapons but her wits, but it's NOT her will she wants to be executed but her Father's, the Fire Lord.
Had Azula been power hungry, she would've prompted epithets for herself like Zhao did. And had Zhao been lawful, he could've talked about what his victory means to the Fire Lord and the Fire Nation, as a mission had been fulfilled (Azula didn't even stay to rule Ba Sing Se). Even in the Royal Plaza when Azula declared herself as "clever" and "beautiful" she was asking credit, and craves praise and attention for her excellence and include proudly how her brother Zuko fought by her side and regain his honor and status.
"Your Princess Azula, clever and beautiful, disguised herself as the enemy and entered the Earth Kingdom's Capital. In Ba Sing Se, she found her brother Zuko, and together they faced the Avatar. And the Avatar fell! And the Earth Kingdom fell!
Azula's agents quickly overtook the entire city. They went to Ba Sing Se's great walls. And brought them down! The armies of the Fire Nation surged through the walls and swarmed over Ba Sing Se, securing our victory.
Now the heroes have returned home! Your princess, Azula. And after three long years, your prince has returned, Zuko!"
Note how Azula emphasizes on teamwork and "we/our" pronouns. She's all about teamwork and purposefully aimed leadership.
"I expected this kind of treachery from Uncle. But Zuko, Prince Zuko, you're a lot of things, but you're not a traitor, are you? It's not too late for you, Zuko. You can still redeem yourself. [...] You are free to choose."
Zuko was not a traitor to Azula, thus she saw her worthy of a second chance in condition of proving his loyalty. As we see above, she works for the Fire Lord and the Fire Nation not her personal glory. She delayed the Dai Li agents arrival on purpose, because Zuko had to prove - had to make a choice in which she would act upon later (and to make him comfortable enough because she knows he has every inclination to side with her - she just has to make sure he would).
Zuko's return to the Fire Nation happened for plot purposes, but Azula was Zuko's best chance to go home both because of her lawful alignment and her (complicated) love for her brother.
They already introduce to us the selfish, power hungry rival to Zuko into Zhao, thus they can't make a repetitive foil into Azula, she has to be different. Azula started out trying to capture Zuko as she was ordered by her Father, then changed her deal to offer him "redemption" if he proven his loyalty by cooperating with her to defeate the enemy.
Azula, in fact, was a foil similar to Zuko, not opposite, because both share the same goals/properties; gain love/approval from their father and lead the Fire Nation to victory (hell even Ehasz' concepts for an Azula redmpation was similar to Zuko's). Which is why they fought as a real team against Aang and Katara in Crystal Catacombs. The siblings who were seemingly at each other throats from the start of series made an equal power team to Katara and Aang who share a strong bond, this instant teamwork is telling that Azula and Zuko understood each other. And Azula rather was happy when Zuko choose her over Iroh and fought by her side. She done a lot of smiling during that fight.
When I scroll through Avatar Wiki:
What is Azula's ultimate strength?
MDD: Now this, this is a great scene written by Aaron. I remember him… His idea for it was, was, you know, the fact that Azula is so confidant, so powerful in her self assurance, that she could break this man just by, you know, just by talking to him basically. She doesn’t even need to lift a finger. [x]
"I can see your whole history in your eyes. You were born with nothing, so you've had to struggle, and connive, and claw your way to power. But true power, the divine right to rule, is something you're born with. The fact is, they don't know which one of us is going to be sitting on that throne, and which one is going to be bowing down. [Long Feng looks worried.] But I know, and you know. [She sits down on the throne and crosses her legs.] Well?"
"[To Zuko.] I need you, Zuko. I've plotted every move of this day, [Makes a fist.] this glorious day in Fire Nation history, and the only way we win is together. At the end of this day, you will have your honor back. You will have Father's love. You will have everything you want. You are free to choose."
"[Craftily.] So, Sokka's your name, right? My favorite prisoner used to mention you all the time. [Sokka stops walking and casts Azula a suspicious glance.] She was convinced you were going to come rescue her. Of course you never came, and she gave up on you."
"[Side-view of campsite.] Well, that's it, then. [Close-up.] You have a controlling mother who had certain expectations, and if you strayed from them, you were shut down. That's why you're afraid to care about anything, and why you can't express yourself."
"See that girl with the silly pigtails? When she runs toward the ball, [Cuts to a girl with pigtails juggling the ball with her legs.] there's just the slightest hesitation of her left foot. I'm willing to bet a childhood injury has weakened her. [Cut to a view through the foursome as they look on.] Keep serving the ball to her left, and we'll destroy her and the rest of her team. [Cut to frontal view as they turn to face the other team.] Dismissed."

So was anyone gonna tell me that the cancellation of Invader Zim led to ATLA's creation or was I supposed to find that out from the tv tropes website at 2 in the morning
so i’m watching avatar the last airbender again because of fucking course i am and after zuko beats katara at the north pole he tells her “you rise with the moon. i rise with the sun” so now i’m convinced zuko is the most insufferable morning person ever and katara makes coffee at 9pm.
zuko at 5 am, seeing katara walking around in her pajamas: wow i’ve never seen you up this early
katara: i’m getting ready for bed
i didn’t intend for this to be a shipping thing i was just thinking about them as like roommates but honestly?
zuko: help my wife’s a night owl and she sleeps till 2 pm every day
iroh: some people are just nocturnal
zuko: ya but i miss her
This is unbelievably adorable. I need a comic of this now.

Sometimes you just want to listen to people that sound smart talk about how objectively amazing your favorite show is – it’s some sweet, sweet validation and it makes you remember or realize why you love what you love. Luckily, when your favorite show is Avatar, there are a TON of commentary videos that analyze what makes it so great.
So here are some of my personal favorites:

The Last Airbender: A Case Study by Jesse Tribble
Mike and Brandon walking between meetings from a short while back… We’re moving into a new office space, transitioning into the next phase of production. Our core team is growing. We’re writing, planning, and testing. Though there’s plenty that’s new for us in this live action process, we’ve been on this long rollercoaster ride twice before and a lot of the climbs and twists and turns feel familiar. Right now, everything seems slow, and we’re itching to speed up; before we know it, everything will be moving too fast and happening all at once. For those who are eager to see this new series and are asking if we have a trailer yet: thank you for your enthusiasm, sincerely, but you wouldn’t want to see a version of this series that was made within 9 months. Too much Hollywood fare is fast-tracked and the results speak for themselves. Thankfully for us and this series, Netflix is committed to doing it right. We’re trying to make something special that will stand the test of time. A live action Avatar series is a daunting, incredibly complex thing to pull off — a fantasy travel show with tons of VFX, CG creatures, martial arts, etc. — and to do it right takes a ton of planning. On both the original series and Korra, when we were at this stage in the production the projects hadn’t even been announced yet. The difference with this Netflix series is that you all heard about it just a little bit after we started. So it will seem like a longer wait, but we can assure you that everyone is making good use of that time so we can craft something beautiful and emotionally powerful. Also so we can make sure Appa is cute. We’ll be starting the casting process before too long, so if you’re aspiring to be a part of this thing, keep taking acting lessons and some martial arts/movement classes. We’ll announce how, when, and where to audition soon-ish. Thanks! Love, Bryan ✨💙✨
Major update, really exciting!
