ive been seeing stuff about people going off about sysplex stuff and I frankly, do not see the point in trying to focus on it.
1, its such a tiny ass community of people who genuinely don’t cause harm that anyone would notice
2, the concept literally fits the structural theory of dissociation???
I get why CPTSD and BPD might not exactly work the same way as DID/OSDD, but like, it doesn’t mean you can’t experience dissociation or amnesia? If someone ends up having different ego states that function similarly to alters in a DID system, then like, what is the problem?
While I understand the arguments from both sides, I honestly think it’s just not worth having heated arguments over because there are way bigger problems in the community (like how Sophie is literally trying to say how if DID was demedicalized then nothing would happen which is a WILDLY INACCURATE take and is frankly one of the most dangerous things she’s ever said)
we are personally sysplex neutral with pro leaning, cuz like i understand the reason it was made, but I also don’t know if it should be tied to the system community or if treating CPTSD or BPD the same way as a system would even be a good idea. I say this as someone with diagnosed BPD, we don’t really have ego states that are like alters, and I personally don’t see how it would really work for those with BPD unless they already had issues with identity in the first place.
Whatever the case, yall really are focusing on the wrong things. Sysplexes and polyminds are not the problem. The people who are actually causing the spread of dangerous misinformation and fear are (ahem, yknow who).
Sometimes syscourse is great, sometimes it’s people arguing about the most non issue things and i genuinely feel like people forget that we are all literally just put in one minority group by outsiders.
They wont care about whether you are endogenic, disordered, polymind or sysplex. The minute they see that you are a system/plural/anything thats different from the norm, you will be othered. They WILL put us in the same category. What happens to one of us happens to all of us, and the fact that people do not realize this most of the time worries us. If DID was demedicalized, it wouldn’t just impact disordered systems, it could also impact endogenic or mixed origin systems, and then extend out to other groups. While most endos don’t have trauma, there are cases where they do and they end up finding out about their trauma by remembering it, and realize that they’re actually disordered. If DID was demedicalized, these people would not be getting the treatment they need. DID treatment is not the same as CPTSD or BPD treatments, not to mention that CPTSD is not even recognized as an actual type of PTSD as of right now. We would lose so much and the community would lose a ton of resources and support if this ever happened.
We would not be getting the treatments we need. Our friends would not be getting the treatments they need. And non disordered folks who later realize that they need those treatments would not be getting the treatments that they need.
Opinions matter, but what matters more is making sure that real harm doesn’t happen. Unfortunately the community sucks at picking apart what is an actual problem vs what is something that’s never going to leave the online community and is half the time a non issue ;-;
If you dont like sysplexes, just put them in your DNI. Dont like polyminds? Put em in ur DNI. No need to spew hate or argue about them. Use your time and energy elsewhere where it can be better spent.
