This year has been extremely insightful. Honestly, if your years do not consist of constant growth, progression, and self awareness - then literally you are doing it all wrong. I do a lot of self reflection, in order to be a better me. This guide has been a constant reminder on what is important. YOU. & all the things you control. For everything else, you just hope that karma makes its rounds but more importantly knowing that your silence is not a weakness, but the best teacher. Let silence be your tongue and find an internal peace you never knew existed, and be kind always. 💛

Reinventing my own beauty standards. Standards in general - my entire life I was told not to get too dark, that fair light skinned women are so “naturally beautiful” and that I was “saanvali” (dark skinned) but had kashish (attraction) 🙄 This tan is so much more than skin deep (pun intended) I think it is changing but sometimes I catch myself. It is difficult to unlearn things you have been taught your entire life. Being unapologetically you, is the most beautiful thing. I can be emotional & cry at times but other days I am fierce & do not hold back. I love all things beauty & fashion and also care about giving back to the community. I try to keep all my favorite Eid traditions alive; a brand new outfit even if it is simple, going to prayer with my parents, eating amazing Ruby food, anxiously waiting for my adorable father to give me Eidee. As the years go by, Eid feels different as an adult. I am much more aware of the travesties that surround us - however with anything you have to make the best of everything. Eid Mubarak insta fam - may our hearts be the most beautiful thing about us 💕

the only time I recommend turning a blind eye: let people create false narratives about you. Let them say what they want, you should know your truth and continue to flourish and be kind. It’s a really small price to pay having to rid yourself of their toxicity. And at times, you get the best light from a burning bridge... or bridges. ✨ #notbothered

I recognize I look kinda mad in this picture, or perhaps just somber. sometimes in life you’re neither happy or sad. you just are & in those moments you have to recognize that it is okay to just be... that you’re in competition with no one. not even yourself... competition implies that someone has to lose, the new, better you wouldn’t want the old you to lose. you have to be rooting for yourself at all times. #TuesdayThoughts also i feel like this is a very @madah_j post lolll her posts give me SO much life. 💛

“The hurrier I go, the behinder I get” who can relate to this? 🙋🏻‍♀️ there seems to not be enough time in the day. To working 8-5, fitting in a workout, self care, to being there for my family - & yeah yeah you can say we have the same amount of time as Beyoncé but Beyoncé got people working around her - us normal folk don’t have that luxury. My point is: slow down. Embrace what is around you. I take mental days all the time - and just lay in bed & watch white collar (currently) or meal prep on a Tuesday because why the hell not? We also need to be recharged & i have learned, nothing is that urgent, nothing requires a text right away, stop scrolling social media and thinking about what you’re missing out on but rather where you are in that moment. It has literally done wonders for me on losing attachments. Breathe, let the air & sunshine consume you. #ThursdayThoughts sidenote: Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books. 💕

You don’t have to attend every argument to which you are invited to (seriously HOW PROFOUND?!) Choose to disengage. Choose to reflect on who you want to be rather than allowing someone to make you do otherwise. Only you have power over you. My face truly says it all.
