MirrorLink integration AUPEO! Personal Radio and Volkswagen
AUPEO! announced the availability of its infotainment service to Volkswagen cars. Already collaborating with Audi, the audio streaming platform extends its service to additional Volkswagen Group brands through the integration with MirrorLink. And we are proud of given chance to do this MirrorLink integration!
Our roots
It's been a long time since we've joined forces with AUPEO! team. We've made first modern and high-quality app for Android users and modernized it later. The next aim was to built an application for Windows Phone 7, update it to Windows 8 and create version directly for Windows 7 and 8 Desktop. And now, during AUPEO! expansion and theirs new opportunities, we're announcing AUPEO! Personal Radio first audio application certified for MirrorLink by Volkswagen!
What is MirrorLink?
MirrorLink started as a research project by Nokia Research Center in Palo Alto, US. They took results from the noBounds! project and applied them to the automotive domain. Over time, the Car Connectivity Consortium made up of various auto and electronic manufacturers, has joined together to set up an industry standard for certifying apps and devices. The main goal was to ensure both safe and useful for drivers - that's how MirrorLink was created. The joint effort by car manufacturers and phone makers is aimed at developing open standards to define possible operations of smartphones linked to cars.
MirrorLink integration advantages
MirrorLink offers seamless connectivity between a smartphone and the car infotainment system. Drivers just connect the phone with a cable and immediately gain access to phone applications via the car's navigation screen, also either dashboard steering or wheel buttons. A unique element of MirrorLink is its ability to show the smartphone interface from a variety of mobile OS platforms on the audio head-unit display.
How we used MirrorLink
Use of MirrorLink gave us quite a lot of possibilities in implementation. We're interested in supplying connectivity between your private phone and car audio system what brings a lot of benefits, such as comfortable app navigation from steering wheel. We also took care of safety driving and implemented clean and modest user interface, not taking unnecessary notice of driver by reducing animation and adapting colours. Until now we've been preparing AUPEO! app with MirrorLink support for Volkswagen cars and are going to extend this product to the next brands in Volkswagen Automotive Group.
