Auntie May had no screentime? Marisa Tomei an Oscar winner is being wasted by Marvel? Fuck Marvel!

She has about a minute in Civil War, 4 minutes in Homecoming and 3 minutes in Far From Home. It’s ridiculous. Especially if you have in mind Happy had 8 minutes of screen time in FFH.

Change of topic for a little bit, I googled Aunt May’s screentime to reply to this and I came across this arcticle:

Please go scroll through because it’s appalling. The subtitle of the article is  Clue: Marvel is learning and I really don’t think they are? I’m not gonna quote the entire list but Ant-Man and The Wasp had the 1st place, which makes sense, one of the titular characters is a female after all. And I was initially pleased because “Total: 65m 45s of 118m (55.7% of running time)” and I thought “alright, you go, Hope!” but then I kept reading and “Hope van Dyne appears for 35m – the longest single appearance by any female character in an MCU movie to date” and fine Scott had 42 and a half minutes in the movie, the difference isn’t huge, but how the fuck is 35 minutes the most screen time a female character has had in the MCU before Captain Marvel? You wanna know what’s the most a male character has had? Well I went on IMDb and it’s 77, and it was Tony Stark all the way back in Iron Man 1, then Peter in Homecoming with 76, then Strange in his own movie with 73 and only then Carol with 65, and then there’s an absurd gap of men after men after men until you reach Hope and her 35 minutes. WHAT THE FUCK?

Anyway circling back into the main theme Tony Stark as 8 minutes of screentime in Spiderman: Homecoming and that’s exactly how much time May Parker has in the whole of the MCU

all offense but it still grinds my gears that tony basically didnt even lose anyone during the snap….he still had pepper, happy, and rhodey (while steve lost literally everyone except nat but go off i guess). yeah, peter died…but lbr, that’s because tony brought in a teenager into a fight (in CW) he shouldn’t have even been in. lets be real, if tony never met spiderman, he wouldn’t have given a crap if peter was dusted. peter’s death isn’t even his own; it’s an excuse for tony to care about the dusted people. if he never met spiderman/peter, he wouldn’t care about bringing anybody back because he had pepper, rhodey, happy, and morgan. he gets a complete life, he wouldn’t’ve cared; he very nearly didn’t even help until pepper told him the guilt would get him, not because it was the right thing to do but because if he didnt help/sacrifice himself, he couldn’t claim his god complex.

I had to go back to watch that scene and I’m just reading up on it. The plane was locked to auto-pilot to New York and 2 bombs were active. It showed that he tried to find switches to disable these settings but didn’t work.

And that’s why the scene got deleted. Gotta love the “kill your darlings” process during editing. Like yeah, you make a stupid scene you think is funny, but then when you’re deciding what will actually make it to the final cut, you consider things and say:

Pros of the scene: it’s funny, Rhodey is in a roll of being the biggest troll among all the characters.

Cons of the scene: IT GOES FUCKING AGAINST THE VERY CANON WE OURSELVES CREATED.

So you put your fucking brain where it fucking belongs, and delete the fucking scene. And everyone is happy.

You know what REALLY grinds my gears? How Tony treated Natasha. Natasha who was forced to become an assassin, then chose to become something better. Tony first treated her like a piece of meat. Then with contempt - that double agent crack in CW was beyond the pale. Then when she died in Endgame, he was like "did she have a family?" Dude, it should take you 10 seconds to realize that no, she didn't have biological family, but yes, SHE HAD A FAMILY AND YOU WEREN'T IN IT.

The ask about Steve stans - tbh it's why I kind of roll my eyes when I see a Tony stan complain about other fans. I know there have been fans who are assholes to Tony fans sometimes but, I wasn't in MCU fandom until a little before AOU so I don't know what it was like, but AOU? The nastiness from Tony stans was right there ime. Tumblr posts about how the Avengers were abusers and how they didn't understand how Tony had PTSD and it's their fault for not giving him help, etc etc. (part 1)

They’re also SO hypocritical because first they’re going on about how antis are so mean for hating tony and tony stans, and then they’re like “We’re the biggest and most powerful part of fandom! This is the TONY STARK CINEMATIC UNIVEEEERRSEEE!” Honey, you can’t be the most persecuted and biggestand loudest group at the same time.

Also, try saying anything negative about tony in literally any fan space. You’re lucky if you get out alive. It’s so stupid, but it’s quite taboo to even dislike or feel neutral about tony. And the repeated narratives in the MCU definitely don’t do anything the quell that.

As for people being assholes to tony stans? Yeah, I’ll give them that. I’ve been an asshole when they come onto clearly tagged posts or blogs, and I’ve seen others be assholes with seemingly no provocation. I haven’t seen any antis give death threats tho! So I think maybe they should check themselves before they start throwing rocks.

The only bad thing about the MCU and the XMCU being separate for so long is that Wolverine wasn’t an Avenger like in the comics, because he would have hated them so much. Tfa: his best friends leaves with his own and Steve's date in the night before he get's overseas to fight in a war. In wars people die.

Tws: a part his friend left him on the water, there isn't a date or time when he will see him again.

Cw: his best friend stays in Wakanda, no one said one thing how long he needs to recover.

Iw: again Steve has no idea if he see his best friend and also nearly all of his other friends again.

Except for iw his best choose this on his own and no one hates him because he needed/wanted this. But everyone hates Steve because he needed his life in his time back.

Have you never watched Peggy Carter in anything, ever? You think that woman can have her agency stolen by anyone, ever? You think Peggy wouldn’t have said thanks but no thanks to Steve if he wasn’t what she wanted anymore? Y’all accuse Endgame of diminishing her character, as if she wouldn’t have told Steve to fuck right off if she wasn’t interested. As if Steve wouldn’t have respected that choice.

People acting like Peggy can’t make her own choices? You’re the ones diminishing her character, not this movie. She calls him the love of her life in the Agent Carter opening. She chose the life she wanted. If you disagree with this choice, fair enough, but don’t go around acting like Peggy’s not going to own every choice she makes.

Respect the dignity of Peggy’s choice, people. Disagree with it, but don’t act like it wasn’t hers.
