And it's a beautiful spring evening here at The Arcade in Brighton Michigan! Its a fairly light, so thats good news for you! $20 is the price of admission, and we have over 150 machines ready and waiting for you!

As you can see, this is a new day for yours truly. Meet Lady Catherine, my 2020 Mazda CX-9. From the moment I saw her on the lot and test drove her, she seemed stately and refined, yet completely unafraid to get her hands dirty amd get the job done. I don't know what it is, but every time I get a car, a name just pops into my head and so far they always have started with the letter C.

Big shout out to Justice and the team at Serra Mazda for going the extra mile to get me to take her home (after work tonight, anyway). I'm just glad I have a car I can actually drive and be able to go places. My family is happy but I am more relieved than anything else. As I said in a previous post, having to hoof it at my age and take buses everywhere, not to mention spending money on car rentals was not what I call fun.

So once I get my new financial reality straightened out (because my car payment is going up 50%), arcade runs are back on the menu, boys! Starting with Bad Axe Retrocade! Stay tuned!

Amd we are winding down a beautiful spring Sunday here at The Arcade! We won't be open again until Friday, but rest assured we will be ready for you!

Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I went to Serra Mazda and test drove a nice CX-9, and hopefully once I get a phone call with the go ahead, i won't be needing to take the bus anywhere for awhile. Shout out to Justice at Serra Mazda for making it a great experience. The car drove beautifully, and it's big enough for my family to take them on trips. I promised them a sunset of Lake Michigan, looks like I will be able to keep that promise if things go well.

I'm going to record episode 86 tonight after my son goes to bed. I'll tell you guys now: this is going to be a redux of Episode 1, because I think it needs it. I was never happy with Episodes 1-4. Even though I had been a podcaster for seven years when I decided to start COAA, flying the plane solo is a very different thing, and it showed in those episodes. So I made the decision to redo them, starting with this one. So yes, record tonight, edit and post hopefully by this time next week. That's the plan.

Hey folks, just checking in.

I literally had no time to post during the opening shift on Saturday, between customers coming in waves, the owner coming in and speaking with him, and two birthday parties. But everything went off without a hitch until I wrapped up playing games after I clocked out at 6 and decided to go home.

I got in my car, and she would not start. Nothing I did would work. I think the starter died, but there were no telltale signs of that about to happen, and I got to work that morning without any problems. She had to be towed home, and now I am wondering what to do.

This is why I am in a quandary; After I got my tax return, my roommate and I were going to go in on a new (to us) car. I just needed my car to last until the end of March, and I was babying her as much as I could. She's 15 years old, and the amount of work she would need to make her roadworthy is at least 10x what she's worth, never mind all of the flaws she had just coming off the production line. Truth be told, she's falling apart.

This speeds up my timetable, that's for sure. I've been looking at cars all day today, and I think there is one that would suit my needs and that of my family fairly well, with a good amount of reliability. I kinda of *have* to get my current car fixed, if only enough to make it to next month. Add to this all of the issues surrounding my girlfriend's health and home care dropping us, which was a sizeable chunk of income every month, I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Not much to report at this time, still writing Shadow and Raven's story and feeling melancholic about it because it mirrors my relationship with my ex, who lost her life last summer. I really miss her. I can only imagine how her son feels.

I'll be working on episode 85 this week coming, as things are slowly starting to get back to something akin to normal, then I'll do episode 86, which is going to be a redux of the first episode.

Sorry for not posting for so long, these 11-13 hour shifts can take it out of you. I get to the halfway point and I'm a little wiped out. Hopefully things get back to a semblance of normalcy soon.

If there is one thing I hate, it's willful ignorance. New couple in their 20s comes in, says it's their first time being here. I give them the free Arcade spiel, $20 cash per person, ATM right over there, etc. IYKYK. They drift over to the ATM, then it gets busy. At least 10-15 people come in right in a row and by the time inget them all squared away, the couple had vanished. I was thinking, did they just not have the cash on hand amd they dipped out? That happens sometimes.

I don't think too much about it, until I see them playing a game literally right in front of me and having a grand old time. I had to take ten seconds to calm myself, because I was pissed. I walked over there and told them without preamble that they had to pay their admission or they could leave. They paid, but they had the audacity to look upset about it.

It's not my fault you both played in my face and I caught you. I was well within my rights to kick them out but I gave them the chance to make it right first.

*takes a breath*

On to me quickly, I've been writing both stories. I think I might try and finish Shadow and Raven first, because it's not just an adventure and romance story (sprinkled liberally with smut), it's a tribute to my close and dear friend, whom I met over the gaming table years ago. I've spoken about her on the podcast, she lost her life after a long battle with illness. Quite by accident we created those characters almost identically, and I'm going to tell those stories. Definite WIP.

Sorry about not posting last week, it was crazy busy and I wasn't feeling so great. The week has been a little weird between my fatigue and sleep issues then getting the apartment ready for pest control. After I got home form work last night I went straight to bed and passed out for seven hours, first time I've been able to do that in a long time. Because of that, I held off on editing the new episodes but I think I'll get 84 done tonight amd 85 done next week. Plus, we're going to be recording a new episode of @thacoshammer, so here comes GamerNation Productions for 2026! Just a little later than planned. Our heartfelt thanks to all our listeners for your patience!

Ugh, what a week. The whole house got covid, my roommate had to go the hospital, my gf still might have to unless she improves, she might have bronchitis again... had to stay home for the whole week, son was off school but him being 11 he was fine with it... I tested negative, so it's back to work and headlong into another open to close shift on our busiest day. But as the saying goes, the bills don't pay themselves.. going to a very busy upcoming week.

I think my voice might be up to getting episode 84 recorded, but as always, the cough is the last thing to go away. I'll see about tomorrow evening, and of course I'll stream the debacle on Twitch for your amusement, if I can get through it without hacking up a lung or two. As always, stay tuned.

Sorry I haven't been updating, but I spent the last two Saturdays at home because my car was in the shop. What's worse, the shop I took her to had her for EIGHT days and didn't even do anything, with no communication. I called twice, once to inquire status, the second to let them know I was coming to pick her up and go somewhere else.

Aside from that adventure and seeing January is going to be rough financially, I'm still doing what I can, when I can. I finally got episode 83 edited and posted, only for a Spotify bot taking it down for some sort of copyright violation, only to have it reinstated after I disputed it, because the music I use is free use if you mention the creator (Kevin MacLeod) or his website (incompetech.com), and I do both at the end of every episode. I swear, AI is going to make us dumber.

Anyway, I'm going to have to pick up some extra shifts to cover not having a homecare paycheck next month. Not looking forward to not having days off, but hey, I have to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, right? Merry Freaking Christmas, everyone!

Hey folks! Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!

Yes, I finally got her working properly! I bought this XArcade tankstick max I think two years ago now, and I found out quickly that while she worked with my main computer system, the size of the stick was not good for computing, and she was going to need her own space for that.

Smash cut to the present date, I bought a cheap refurbished Dell computer off of Amazon amd dedicated it to being an old school gaming machine. After getting the computer set up and getting the proper files transferred over, she is working just fine! I can finally practice games at home! I still have to fine tune things and get a decent entertainment center for this and all of the consoles I'm going to hook into the TV I bought, but hey, baby steps. I'm just happy that she works.

On the podcasting front, we've decided to just go on hiatus through the end of the year as trying to get together for the holidays has always been difficult.

Good news, though. DM Banjo is the newest addition to the GamerNation family, and will fill the crucial producer role we have been seeking for @thacoshammer. So yes, I can say with confidence that we are going to come back for 2026, and in a big way. We just need to work some things out, then we will hit the ground running.

With Banjo handling the main show, I can turn more of my attention to the ancillary things surround both TH and COAA, and get COAA back on track. I still have plans for arcade runs, with the next one being going up to @badaxeretrocade. As always, stay tuned for details!

Wow, what a week, and it ain't over yet. I am in the middle of a 21 consecutive day working streak, and third of four days here at The Arcade. I covered for a coworker last Sunday, hosted a private party Wednesday, partially covered for another coworker last night, my full shift tonight, and another private party tomorrow! Add to that my normal five day a week job and doing homecare and yeah I'm going to be feeling ragged by the time the 9th comes around. But in all honesty, I love working here at The Arcade. I've said it a hundred times before it's a job I've wanted since I was 13 or 14 years old.

We got a major compliment from a customer on his way out the door. He said that he was impressed at how the majority of machines not only looked good but worked well, and I told him that it was all due to our tech, who works on these machines and keeps them running in peak condition. Stuff is going to break, it's true, but the tech is the heart and soul of any arcade, and I am glad we have a good one.

As for me, we start another month. I was looking into buying tickets to see Rush in August along with my son and my godson, but 200 per ticket is simply too rich for my blood. Another time.

My muse came tottering in from wherever the hell she went, so I am back on the writing train. Not just for the story I am working on but also the story about characters myself and my late friend and ex played when we first met back in 1996. I have learned through hard experience that when my muse shows up I had better be ready to write and/or take notes. So that's what I am doing.

Aside from that, life is lifing. You know how it is.

And it's another Saturday night here at The Arcade! It's the night of The Big Game between Michigan and Michigan State, so we're not as busy, but if you're looking to get your game on, that's great news for you! $20 is the price of admission, and we have over 150 machines set to free play!

Just another week for me, working and digging out of the financial hole I'm in. You know, the usual stuff. Tomorrow a lot of heavy stuff goes into storage, clearing up the living room, and from there the entertainment center will go in bit by bit. Let's just suffice to say that I have plans. And of course by the time I'm done will be the time to get another place, because none of us are happy with our current living situation.

I just took a walk around the arcade, and I watched a regular take the top spot on Robotron. Getting back to the entertainment center thing, one of the thing I am going to do I get one of my old desktop computers and hookup my Tankstick Max to it, so I can practice certain games. I played Robotron before I clocked in and got 1.3 million, but I was rusty, having not played a serious game in two weeks.

Still editing podcasts bit by bit as I have time (this past week was actually busy), so hang in there! I'm working on it!

And it's still a rather busy night here at The Arcade, though it's not as busy as it was earlier today! Man, what a day! We had two parties and an arcade full of people! I came in two hours early at the request of one of my coworker as she has some family stuff that required her to leave early. From the moment I walked it we were all but slammed, and it stayed busy until maybe 800 or 830. Only now did I have the time to post, and the cleanup is going to begin very soon.

Aside from that I had some gastric trouble last night and I did not get to bed until close to 6 AM because of it.. I was very close to calling in today, but things sorted themselves out and I was able to come in.

All my RPG stuff is packed and ready to be put into storage. Three large and heavy boxes, and three smaller ones. Add to that what's left of my comic book collection and yeah, my back is complaining already.

I know I keep talking about getting episodes out but I'm taking a longer break to avoid burnout. Everything I try my brain is like, "no, not yet." I know you guys are waiting for them, just be patient a little while longer. I could go into specifics about why I haven't gotten them done, but the reasons are a touch too personal. Just take my word that they are valid, okay? Okay.

Amd as predicted, my muse went out for her smoke break and has gone AWOL. I'm happy with the five chapters I've written along with some character interactions that I really like on first blush, just need to flesh them out a little more.

Aside from that, just the usual. I need to hit the lottery or something.

Okay, onto me. I'm recovering from an 11 day consecutive working stint. I've been wondering why I'm so tired lately and duhh... my muse is nowhere to be seen, so I'm back trying to finish chapter five. I tell you writing from the antagonist perspective is tough sometimes...

Tomorrow is going to be another busy day so I am once again going to try and get back on the podcast editing train next week. It's amazing what happens when I don't have a day off for awhile. I think the effect is more pronounced the older I get. Ah well, I can only do the best I can right? But why does it feel as of late like it's not enough?
