it’s actually really interesting that we’re always like “eddie doesn’t use his words often to express his emotions” but like. in terms of his relationship with buck, canonically. we have more examples of eddie verbally expressing his love to buck than we have of buck expressing his love to eddie.

most of our greatest lines are from eddie: “there’s no one in the world that i trust with my son more than you” and “thank you for not giving up” and “hey that’s not on you” and “i know you did” and “you act like you’re expendable. but you’re wrong”

but most of our greatest actions come from buck: introducing eddie to carla, driving eddie to pick up christopher after the earthquake, driving eddie to the hospital when his abuela got hurt, saving christopher during the tsunami, organizing the christmas party with athena at the station, digging through the mud, crawling under the firetruck to save eddie, taking care of christopher.

i think eddie’s really careful and intentional with his words and that’s why it comes off as…him not saying much. but he actually says a lot? and buck actually doesn’t say much…but he shows a lot…

#i know!!!!!#i think it's so interesting#because i feel like while buck definitely appreciates gestures#he finds words very hard to believe#bc he's been left in the past and bc his parents probably weren't the type to offer comforting words before#so i think eddie pushes himself a bit outside of his comfort zone and makes a conscious effort to use words for buck#to spell out clearly why he cares for buck the way he does and then he follows it up with actions to cement that#(bringing chris back to buck's after the tsunami the will etc)#in contrast i think buck in general finds talking easier than eddie does but maybe knows eddie's faith lies more in action#like he was so hesitant to take shannon's word for it that she'd changed before letting him back into chris' life#and we know his parents' attempt at advice has always been to berate him#so buck offers support silently and through actions bc he understands it's what eddie needs#but i also think buck specifically finds it hard to talk to eddie sometimes bc of how deeply he feels for him#and how much he values their relationship#some of his most vulnerable moments have been when eddie has said those lines to him and you can tell he absolutely doesn't know what to say#back#in fact the only time we see buck instigate a serious conversation and force eddie to talk is in the kitchen scene#and i guess maybe in monsters too when they make up???#but you can tell he has to work himself up to those moments#whereas eddie seems oddly at ease when he decides to drop these kind of statements around buck????#hah wow this has truly awakened something in me (via @littlespooneven)

corporations being sluts for our money, and openly showing the homophobes that they prefer our money over theirs, is a GOOD THING and a sign of progress and I will die on that hill.

absolutely support small businesses and indies. but Jesus don’t flat out refuse to give money to a corporation for celebrating pride, because that’s what the homophobes literally want people to do and in this dystopic society you (and I’m dying inside as I say this) NEED corporations on your side because of the sheer scale of their influence. Some of it is even more recent. The epidemic of queer children suicides hitting the news? That was last decade. It’d been going on for much longer than that but at one point our fight had progressed enough the media started reporting on it and the suicides even went up for a while, and I was on tumblr when that happened, that’s how recent it is.

So how can I sneer at corporations showing support widely when kids dying used to be normal?

I can’t even fully attribute the motivations corporations rainbowing up their logo as completely for money. There’s probably queer people who put their jobs on the line and fought for the company to DO that.
