A tap of her foot upon stone flooring and then HESITANTLY, she relents.

the princess ‘ s voice doesn ‘ t shock him    .    doesn ‘ t startle him because he had assumed he was alone    &&   assumed he would be the only witness to his outright distaste of the official garb    .    &&    he most certainly doesn ‘ t start at the sound of the princess ‘ s soft lilting tone when she makes her presence known    .    he turns towards her    ,    sheepish from being caught    .    nods his head in agreement     .    OF COURSE he ‘ s proud to wear the Royal Guard uniform     !    (     though    ,    he would much prefer if only it were a little less flashy     .    would prefer wearing the knights armor  that was heavy    &&    clunky    ,    but in comparison was at the very least practical     -----    )

his thoughts get cut off by the next flurry of words coming the princess ‘ s mouth    .     the fluttering in his stomach informs him that he ‘ s been reprimanded    .    he straightens his back     .    squares his shoulders     .     widens his stance    &&    clasps his hands behind his back    .    a perfect posture for a perfect soldier     .    NO     ,    for a perfect guard     ,    he supposes     .     he listens to the princess until she ‘ s finished     &&    responds with another nod    .    keeps his hands clasped tightly behind his back    .    fights the burning urge to fiddle with the adornments on his new uniform     .

✧ ☀ ☪✧          He looked familiar, an uncanny resemblance to a certain Hero of Time she had become well acquainted with ages ago. She watched as he placed his horse in the hands of one of the stable hands from her place next to the fire. The man speaking with her–a little too eager to gain her affections–didn't’ seem to notice her distraction, and kept yammering on about his supposed adventures. Curiosity finally got the better of the Gerudo.

          “Excuse me.”

          Standing, she approached the Hylian. Honestly, she hadn’t considered what she might say to him, as, “Hello, I’m a Sage from over ten thousand years ago. You look a lot like the hero from my time. Are you related?” probably would only make her seem insane. Thus, she settled on more neutral ground.

           “Sorry to bother you but you look like someone I once knew.”

link needed rest     .     needed to stop at a stable so he    &&     his horse could spend the night replenishing what was lost over their travels     .    sleep    &&    food now a necessity     .     he hands the stable girl his horses reigns     ,    pats his steads neck before turning towards the entrance of the stable    .    a bed sounds good    .    a soft bed sounds even better    .     he should check to see how many rupees he has    .     he had to pick up some bomb arrows in Hateno Village that set him back a few jewels     .     link might have to sell some materials if he wants to sleep in comfort tonight     .     pulling out his wallet    (     a simple bag with strings that close with a pull    )     ,     he heads towards the entrance of the stable    .      passes the fire out front but gets stopped by a voice calling to him before he can progress much further    .    he halts his movements with a slow regret sticking to his limbs    .    the beds were just past the bend of the threshold    .    only a few more steps    .     but ignoring the person that called out to him would be rude    .    &&    link wasn ‘ t one to be rude     .     MOST OF THE TIME     .    so he turns toward the person    .    bows his head in greeting    .    once straightened    ,    he takes in her form with a quick pass of his gaze as he listens to the words she speaks   .     YES    .   the woman rings familiar to link as well    .    but in a distant way    .    a tingle in the back of his mind    .    a lost memory long forgotten   .    perhaps not from this lifetime    .    or the one before    .     but still familiar to a fraction of his soul    .    he nods his head     .    YES     ,    he agrees with her words    ,    link surely once upon a time knew her as well    .    but not this link    .    this link was broken     ;    with missing moments scattered across Hyrule to be scavenged from where they were born    .

     he  might  not  say  much,  but  his  expressions  and  gestures  speak  volumes  ——  she  had  succeeded  in  FLATTERING  him  !!  he  is,  after  all,  the  first  person  she  had  managed  to  run  into  in  this  fantastical,  unfamiliar  world  she  had  landed  herself  in  (  without  her  guardians  with  her,  either,  which  was  the  icing  on  top  of  an  already  -  bitter  tasting  cake  ),  and  it  wouldn’t  have  been  pretty  for  her  had  she  just  been  brushed  off  nonchalantly  by  someone  who  could  perhaps  have  helped  her.  usagi’s  quick  to  blush  a  rosy  -  red  once  he  throws  the  compliments  back  at  her  —  wordlessly  once  again,  which  is  an  impressive  talent  !!  —  and  she  tilts  her  head  to  the  side  happily,  blonde  pig  -  tails  bobbing  with  the  movement.  the  RED  BOWS  on  the  front  and  back  of  her  signature  sailor  outfit  sway  with  the  slight  breeze  in  the  air.  ❛  awwww  !!!  are  you  saying  I’M  cute,  too  ???  that’s  s o  sweet  of  you  !!!  I’M  SAILOR  MOON  !!!  it’s  really  really  nice  to  meet  you  !!!  ❜

the look of distaste on link ‘ s face is OBVIOUS to anyone that is privy to witness it   .    the cause to his face ‘ s effect being his current garb    .    the Royal Guard uniform was    ...     not to his liking     .     much too pretty to be practical    .    leather     &&    excess fabric     &&    adornments that made it hard to move properly    (    let alone FIGHT     )    .    he adjusts his cap     ;   the slope of the hat must be a certain angle    !     a grimace settles on his lips     .     yet he can ‘ t bring himself to complain more than simply pulling a face    .    voicing his opinions not worth the utter pride that came along with being apart of the Royal Guard    .     AND TO BE THE YOUNGEST AT THAT   !    even the heinous fit he is required to wear cannot dampen the fire of pride that burns within him whenever he sees the Hyrule crest on his chest     .     so he keeps silent     .     a burden to bear    ,    but an easy one comparatively    .

Both of their destinies kept them so busy that she would happily jump at the chance to even just say hello. While Zora could handle the water temperatures easy enough, even she could tell it was chilly for a Hylian── the wind offering little comfort.

             STILL──── Seeing that smile grow on his lips was enough to leave her with a smile of her own. HONESTLY     ,     the cold of Zora ‘ s Domain is bearable    (     the frigid waters of the River of the Dead much worse by comparison     )    .     but link ‘ s body must not agree with his brain because teeth chatter together without much permission    .    link tries to keep it as quiet as possible while Mipha ‘ s talking but the cold shakes his mouth without regard for what he wants     .    he listens intently though     .     nods     .     smile spreading wide across a shaking jaw     .     nods again     .     a change of warm clothes sounding like a great idea     .
