“If I said you are attractive would that be too overt?” he asked. The short seemed like the barrier that kept things casual. “In a manner of speaking. Hometown is Cairo, though.”

“A little. But I would be flattered.” Connor grinned. He liked compliments. They were what he used to fish for when he had been his coach’s golden boy. “Cairo. Splendid. The culture shock must have been pretty extreme.”

He laughed softly at the man’s question. “No you aren’t. Just the beach blonde hair. It’s cute though.” He admitted. “Yeah. Sounds like you need to be around people your own age for a change. You might start to turn into a teenager again if you hangout with them long enough.” He joked. They eventually got to his apartment and he unlocked the door with his keys. “No. I’m not. I’m probably the most passive person you’ll meet actually.” He held the door open for the man to step inside as he got it open. “You’re not making me feel weird at all. It takes a lot for me to feel weird.” It was true. A lot of things didn’t phase him. “I technically don’t live alone. I have a cat named Luna. She’s around here somewhere.”

“Many people have teased my hair for the entirety of my life but I’m relieved you find it cute.” Connor laughed. “Hard to catch up with people my age though. A lot of them have had their own families to take care of and I’m stuck here thinking I’ll be forever single and alone. Our chats get awkward.” Though it was Connors decision in the first place to not get involved in any romantic or familial relationships. He lost a lot during his debacle and internally rejected the idea of going through the same experience again. One night stands and temporary friends would be sufficient. “It’s not bad to be passive sometimes. I’m more passive now than I was a few years ago and I’ll dare say I find it peaceful to be living like this.” He did get bored but it wasn’t anything miserable. Frustrating at best. “Really? What weirds you out? Just for a precaution.” He said. “Cute. Do you often invite people here?”

Hattan cracked a smirk. “Is that your way of flirting?” he asked right back. “That’s good for you, and confidence is always a great look. Name’s Hattan.”

“Maybe. You didn’t answer my question.” Connor replied, chuckling. He peered down at his shirt and brought it back on. “It’s nice to meet you. Are you from around here?”

Finn had been out for a run when he spotted the other man. The ex-firefighter stopped to catch a breath and take a drink of water from one of the fountains positioned around the park for runners. The flash of skin was hard to miss and Finn didn’t mind the quick show. He always ran shirtless during the summer. He hated the feeling of drenched cotton sticking to his skin. Finn hadn’t realized that he was still looking at the man until the man’s words broke him out of his thoughts. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. I was just thinking about something.” Finn smiled, “I didn’t mean anything by it.” He wiped the water from his lips and crossed an arm over his chest, stretching it gently. “I wouldn’t mind having someone else to keep pace with,” Finn shrugged. “If you’re up for it.”

Connor smiled when he apologized. He didn’t know whether to flirt or let it slide. It was hard to decide when the other guy was just as exposed as he was. It’s not like it was rare for him to be around shirtless men but when one came out as handsome as this one looked it would take a few more seconds for the ex boxer to shy his attention away. He figured he could stay polite for now. “Of course I am. It was getting lonesome up in here. Were you having a run?” He asked just to be certain.

Thirty minutes. Connor had been doing cardio for only thirty minutes and he was getting way too drenched in sweat. It was embarrassing, given how he had been able to endure much longer in the past but his fatigue was starting to take a toll on him. The musky scent of summer filled his nostrils, scrunching his nose up. He took off his shirt, feeling more liberated as he did so. He was about to start again when he felt a pair of eyes trained on him. He raised an eyebrow. “What? Are you going to just stand there or are you planning to join me?”

Working the night shift at the precinct made the gym Elsie’s personal hell hole. However, thanks to her increase in donuts consumption her pants were starting to feel more snug. As she stepped out of the locker room she looked around at the various torture devices. “I could just buy new clothes…” her gaze fell onto the man running out the treadmill. Cardio wouldn’t be so bad, and it would shed pounds faster than lifting. Elsie couldn’t help but to roll her eyes as he took his shirt off. “What a show off.” She didn’t realize how long she had been staring until she heard him speak up. “Is that a challenge?” Elsie’s competitive side began to take over as she got on the treadmill beside the man.

Connor enjoyed it when he had eyes on him. It gave him a great deal of confidence boost which is what the boxer needed after his big downfall. Showing off wasn’t exactly what he intended but when he realized the woman had stared at him for a second too long, he couldn’t the smirk on his face. “You could consider that a challenge but honestly I just wanted a gym partner, you know? Haven’t had that in awhile.” He said. “So are you in or not?”

She adverted her eyes from him – or rather, his bare torso, it just felt a little strange to look now. It was relieving to see him being somewhat amicable and not at all arrogant of his looks, she didn’t think she could ever being in the presence of those individuals; it’d only heighten her already shaky nerves. “Okay, that’s good.” She tried out a smile. “Just my sister. She’s out to get some drinks.”

He noticed the way she was moving her eyes and thought he was showing too much. He could understand that. Connor slipped his shirt back on, the last thing he wanted was this girl calling the authority or something. “That seems nice. Are you guys hanging out together here or just passing by?” Connor asked, wanting to make a small talk.

“So you’re a California boy? I can kind of see it.” He nodded in approval. “Well, maybe we can be friends. It wouldn’t hurt.” He suggested. “It would definitely be a step up from being friends with your students or even their parents for that matter.” He chuckled. “Yeah. Maybe one day if I learn to trust you we can go more in depth with it.” He offered. He doubted that would ever happen. He didn’t know how the other felt towards drugs. A lot of people had mixed feelings towards them. You either met someone who supported drugs being legal or someone who was against the idea entirely. “Are you though? I get the impression you might be kind of serious.” He smirked. Jax began to lead the way up the stairs to his apartment. “Either way, I’m game for anything. Regardless of what you decide you want to do.” He wanted it to be the others choice. Jax wasn’t a pushy person and he typically went with the flow.

“How? Am I sending gnarly fuck boy vibes?” Connor smiled. He didn’t mind having a few new friends, if they were as cute as Jax was then that would be an added bonus. “Definitely. I need to be around people who aren’t a bunch of teenagers or old people watching said teenagers. So. This is a golden opportunity.” He didn’t mind when Jax decided to keep whatever he did as a secret. Connor had secrets of his own, reasons why he stopped his career as a professional boxer and injury was just one of them. “As long as you aren’t a series killer then we’ll be good. You’re not, are you?” He asked, semi serious. Hey. He knew how to be careful. “Maybe I am but I don’t want to make you feel weird, we’ll see how it goes.” He said as he followed the boy into his apartment. “Sooo. Do you live here alone?”

“I could think of some four year olds who need it for sure,” she said with a laugh. “I definitely could. The museum’s big enough. And I already spar sometimes with my boyfriend.” She ceded mentally that he had a point though. “He pops by sometimes, does the dress up as a historical figure nights. I helped him with the outfit, not to toot my own horn.”

“Oh could you give me an example? Wednesday Addams?” Connor joked, laughing briefly. “That sounds nice. Date someone whom you can spar with.” He chuckled. “That’s nice. He sounds like a really great boyfriend. The last one I dated only wanted the D for fame. I was pretty well known back in the day.”

Nita turned her head to him. She took the lighter, lit her cigarette, and took a long drag before passing his zippo back. She nodded in response to his comment. The guy she had over ended up telling her he couldn’t be around her anymore, he wanted someone unstable to hang with but apparently Nita wasn’t the right kind, more depressed than reckless. “How about yourself?”

“I’m fine. Just getting ready to teach some classes.” Connor was purposefully slacking off so he would able to give his pupils time to warm up. He didn’t like arriving to early only to see them not prepared yet. It pissed him off. “The weather is nice outside though so I thought I’d take a stroll.” He said, keeping his zippo in his pocket. “You wanna talk about it?” Connor asked.

Hattan paused briefly before smiling, relieved he wasn’t being laughed at. “I take it this is the part where I act shocked and gasp ‘no way’,” he replied. “I totally believe it.” Good, he didn’t ask questions. “That’s true. Attractive people date other attractive people, which I think trips some people up beyond belief. And health is good too.”

“Is that your way of saying I’m attractive?” Connor was just playing around with his words but he couldn’t help himself. “We’re all attractive as long as we are confident and I thinking building some biceps did help me feel a lot more confident.” He grinned. “I’m Connor.”

“ bottle of bud, coming right up, ” he says and turns to grab it from the well of ice. he hands it over and smiles, “ yeah, it’s not too bad tonight ! rather well turnout, i’d say. ” basil grins, leaning against the bar and asks, “ how’s ya day been ? ”

Connor took the bottle and didn’t want any longer to take a huge gulp of his beer. Things had been stressful lately with the new batch of students and such. “Nice. Does it get busy often? Because I might frequent this bar a lot more from this point onward.” Connor chuckled. “It’s been exhausting. I teach boxing classes and we had a lot of new students coming in today. A few of them weren’t exactly cooperative.”
