Thinking about Connor witnessing some of humanity’s most complicated, ugly, broken parts through Hank.

Thinking about Connor still choosing him in spite of this. Or maybe partly because of this. Thinking about Connor with the whole new world at his fingertips choosing to stay by the side of that hardened, damaged, and devastatingly human detective.

What do you think of the idea that Hank finds out that a paradox can confuse a computer so whenever Connor gets on his nerves Hank tells him a paradox to confuse/frustrate him?

I had never heard this before but I am immediately 100% on board

I keep thinking about breathing being for cooling androids' internal biocomponents/processors, and if some of those internal machineries get overheated they would start panting/breathing hard

But not necessarily in the same situations a human would pant/breathe hard, so it's sort of human but not human at the same time

And I'm annoyed 'cause I had a specific idea for a situation in which Connor would start breathing hard and also need to go into stasis so panting while he's sleeping BUT it was late at night and now I don't remember what the function was that would have him that tired and his internals working that hard

after spending the whole day hearing my smoke detectors screaming low battery I finally had motivation to start planning my Hankcon firefighter!Connor x detective!Hank AU :p Googling standard procedures, daily routines and such... Here's the basic premise: Connor, Kara, North, Simon, and Markus get a call at the fire station about a housefire for Todd William's residence. When they arrive and conduct the first search they recover Mr. Williams unresponsive and a frightened Alice. After the fire is controlled, put out, the secondary search yields new evidence that warrants the presence of a detective, enter Lt. Anderson :p This is where Connor and Hank meet and attempt to make sense of what they find in that charred house. (Kara and Connor are both paramedic firefighters)

I shouldn't spoil things actually so that's all I'll say :D

Does that make any sense logically/scientifically? No. Is that supported in canon at all? Nope, quite the opposite. But do I like it anyway? Oh yeah 😎

Yes I’m reblogging my own post. I’ve returned to the fandom after a two year burnout and am rediscovering posts I made - and I still stand by this

Honestly, the game itself seems to flipflop on that issue -- you have Markus not reacting to falling on a steel bar and cutting open his side, then no reaction when Lucy uses fire to fix the damage, but you do have Connor reacting to some stuff as if it hurts or disorients him (though that would be pre-deviation, admittedly). I guess the argument there would be that they're reacting more to the force/momentum impacting their bodies? It's still strange to see Connor get punched by Gavin and react to it like he actually felt it, when he has a solid chassis protecting his biocomponents. You can't tell me Gavin put enough force behind that punch for it to impact his insides past the chassis.

honestly though after a certain point, who cares what the canon implies/says, that's what fanfic is for. (I say this because I sometimes greatly enjoy seeing Connor in physical distress/in whump mode. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Incredibly late to mermay, but honestly it would be weirder if I posted it on time at this point lol

Thinking about deviant Connor looking in the mirror and seeing nothing more than a man-made appliance—just a case full of wires. Even his blood nothing more than a component to the machine.

And thinking about Hank’s gentle reminders that follow. Hell, I’m just a sack of veins and blood, just like you. Different stuff, but same design.

It’s the mind that counts, he says, tapping Connor on the LED still spinning yellow. All my emotions are just signals from my brain. Just like yours.

Hank could go on to say that Connor doesn’t have to be human. He can be this new, intelligent species that’s utterly separate. That his advanced intellect probably leads to more intense signals. Intensified emotions, quicker thinking, stronger body…

But he doesn’t. That’s not what Connor wants to hear yet. Connor just wants to feel real. While he holds Connor in his arms and feels very human-like tension in the body he’s cradling, he just smiles at that simple task at hand.

They can just focus on accomplishing that first.
