Hot take : I hate GOT/ASOIAF AUs that gives Jon dragon eggs and he hatches them , I think it’s silly and kind of Misogynistic that you’ll take Daenerys special trait and give it to Jon
Seeing the S3 trailer for HOTD made me glad I dropped it in S2
Hello! Would you like the "Where's my wife?", or, "Where's everyone going, bingo?"
Hot take : if you’re not part of the Culture that Sabrina Carpenter absolutely disrespected , then you have no right to sit there and say “it’s not that deep”
You don’t have the right to decide that.
Not Sabrina Carpenter disrespecting an entire Culture
▋Claire’s bond with Sherry did not become less central just because Capcom kept handing the follow-through to Leon.
▋What always gets me about a “Claire fans should chill, Leon was there too” type of post is the condescension of it. Of course you get to say that from a position of comfort when your favorite is already the most protected, centered, and popular character in the series.
And that is exactly why these posts are so annoying: they keep shrinking the discussion down to the safest, smallest possible point. “Leon was there too.” Okay. Nobody is confused that Leon was physically present in RE2. That is not the issue.
The issue is bigger than that, and Claire fans have been talking about it for years. It is about franchise priority, character allocation, and Capcom’s long-running habit of letting Leon absorb more and more of the emotional and narrative space around other characters while Claire gets less follow-through, less payoff, and less continuation of the arcs that were naturally hers.
Yes, in the original RE2 Leon was there too. Fine. But Sherry mattered to RE2 above all as part of Claire’s story. Claire is the one whose scenario is emotionally structured around protecting her, caring for her, and getting her out. That is the heart of Claire’s arc there. So when later material keeps circling back to Leon & Sherry while Claire & Sherry is neglected, of course Claire fans are going to be annoyed. That annoyance did not come from nowhere.
And that is why the fake-neutral “well Leon was there too” line is so irritating. No one is saying Leon was nowhere in that story. The point is that Claire had a specific, meaningful role that people are constantly trying to flatten, minimize, blur, or reassign, and then acting like Claire fans are unreasonable for noticing it.
What makes it even more obnoxious is that people like this act as though Claire fans defending Claire’s place and Leon fans defending Leon are the exact same thing. They are not. One is defending a character whose importance is constantly being absorbed into Leon’s orbit, and the other is defending the franchise’s golden boy, who already gets handed everybody’s traits, dynamics, and narrative weight by fandom and often by Capcom itself. Those are not equal positions. One is defending against erasure; the other is protecting the most comfortable, dominant reading in the fandom.
And that is the part that never gets acknowledged: Leon only gets to have all of this sustained connection, follow-up, and emotional continuity with Sherry because Capcom chose to keep building it around him. That is the whole point of the criticism. Claire fans are not stupid. We know Leon was “there.” We know RE6 and later material exist. What we are angry about is why the franchise kept choosing to build on Leon’s connection while neglecting the character who was the emotional anchor of Sherry’s story to begin with.
So when people say “but Leon was there too,” it feels beside the point at best and condescending at worst, because they are treating the later franchise output like neutral proof instead of part of the very pattern Claire fans are criticizing. Leon gets more games, more visibility, more narrative continuation, and then people turn around and use the results of that favoritism as proof that his bond matters more in the first place. That is exactly the problem.
And yes, the tag situation is part of why this gets so exhausting. You go into the Claire tag looking for Claire and so much of it is Claire in relation to Leon, posts defending Leon in Claire discussions, or just Leon-centric framing parked on top of her. So then when Claire fans push back, suddenly we are the ones who need to “chill”? Please.
So no, the frustration is not “pretending Leon and Sherry don’t matter.” It is asking why Capcom kept rerouting long-term emotional payoff away from the natural Claire-centered continuation and toward Leon instead, and then expecting Claire fans to accept that as organic. At a certain point it stops looking organic and starts looking like erasure dressed up as continuity.
That is what makes these posts so maddening. They act like Claire fans are just confused about plot details or mad that Leon existed in RE2, when the real complaint is that the franchise keeps taking material that had a natural Claire-centered future and redistributing it elsewhere. Easy to say “everyone calm down” when your favorite never has to fight for oxygen.
The resident evil franchise is ignoring its main female cast more and more
Resident Evil used to be a brilliant series for female characters in a time where, for the most part, representation was quite bad. And it somehow managed to go backwards as time went on by shoving iconic characters in the basement while endlessly bringing back Chris and Leon, never doing anything with Ada that can't be boiled down to her being the seductress in Leon's life, robbing Jill of her own content in RE3 remake in order to build up Carlos and giving Grace less than half of RE9 to herself. Capcom, we're tired

Whenever I want to replay FF16 , cause it got amazing moments
I just remember the way I was terribly disappointed with the treatment of Jill Warrick’s Character
And immediately lose all interest
That game was lowkey disrespectful at some points towards her and straight up wasted her potential
Please Capcom Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine for the DLC
My prediction for RE9 ending
There will be an explosion and a helicopter
Sooo without spoilers pls , was I right ?
It's absolutely disgusting how Capcom BENT over backwards to avoid mentioning the female main cast.
They literally cropped cutscenes to exclude Ada and Sherry acts like Leon saved....Keep in mind Leon doesn't even meet Sherry until the literal end of the RE2 Remake and says one single word to her. Claire did everything for Sherry
And not to fucking mention Jill was still in RC while everything was going down
I think it's crazy that they're giving all the girls' stuff to Leon. Claire rode motorcycles, Leon now rides motorcycles. Claire took care of Sherry, now Leon takes care of Sherry. And they even gave one of Jill's things to Leon.
Wtf, are you gonna make LEON A MEDIC NEXT??? A SPY???
There’s no way the fucking tofu survivor gets a reference but the only thing Claire gets is a charm 😑
Why on earth do Sherry and Leon get TWO whole ass games where they reunite, where Claire(THE ONE WHO ACTUALLY SAVED SHERRY) gets zero content with her since RE2.
And I don't want to hear about the RE3 epilogues as an argument why Sherry never brings her up. That's not apart of the new canon the remakes has established.
Leon did nothing but say "okay" to her in RE2R and suddenly she treats her like a parent.
And honestly, Claire's writing in quite literally everything past Degeneration has been shit. She got absolutely zero and limited screen time in Infinite Darkness and was barely in Death Island and was so horribly mischaracterized during Rev2.
They have been diluting her character until she is barely recognizable as Claire, not to mention how lazy her character designs has been since RE2R. It's the SAME fucking red leather jacket with a different colored shirt with each entry.
Seriously, not A SINGLE MENTION while Marvin and Kendo got flashbacks is absolutely criminal.
Already thinking of how hard it’s going to be to avoid every single spoiler for resident evil 9
A lot of fans hate the Until dawn remake cause it didn’t “need” one
That could be true but I think it’s really important that Josh can live at the end instead of becoming a Wendigo
And the graphics are overall better
