Torture methods for fantasy books

I’m currently writing a fantasy book. My main character just got taken hostage by the enemies and is about to be tortured. It’s supposed to be very hurtful but still not kill him. Anyone have any ideas what I could do? I’m kinda hanging. I researched torture methods online but all it gave me were way too deadly ones already used throughout history. I’m not trying to kill my main OC. I just want to hurt him really really badly.
