there’s a certain freedom arachnid felt when he was able to swing through the city. he always thought of it as flying but with better controls. a thwip here, a tug there, and he could go for miles without feeling the need to cycle again. it contrasted against his very slight dislike for being indoors. too constricting for him to easily swing from corner to corner. “you ever think of opening up the place a little?” arachnid quickly crawled along the upper edges of the wall as he spoke. “a skylight, maybe? i dunno, might be cool.”

kindred had said the event was optional. the invitation indicated otherwise. and, if she were being completely honest, she didn't really have a specific want to be chastised for it later. "even anarchs have to keep up appearances" or whatever it was her leader said. there was no option to back out, and that's what frustrated her. what was the fucking point of being an anarch if she was forced to do this shit.
though she’d made sure to eat before arriving, the smells were overwhelming every time she dared to breathe. the appeal of silk and lace couldn’t counteract the blood that hung thick around them. say what she could of camarilla politics, she couldn’t deny they knew how to keep their guests satiated. she plucked a wine glass filled with the thick substance to keep up the image of enjoyment.
no one had moved to stop her as she wandered the edges of the ‘party’. it was no succubus club event, and she wasn’t quite sure if she was grateful for that. having no one to talk to or pluck her from the crowd gave her the freedom she loved but made the night quite boring. it took a moment for her to pluck up the courage to step onto one of the balconies.
the fresh air hit her with a welcome breeze. she couldn’t help the breath of relief. the gardens below, lighted by the few lamps sprinkled within the brush, were a welcome sight. was probably stunning in the daylight. she rarely missed the sun, yet she’d do anything she could to walk through the maze below on a crisp fall afternoon.
without thinking, she downed the contents of her glass. the taste was full, could be intoxicating, and she...didn’t want it. the glass was gently placed on the railing in front of her. it took all her self control to not throw herself over the carved banisters into the rose bushes below.
it took perhaps longer than expected for danellia to notice the other. her back straightened slightly and she turned on the put together facade that could barely pass in this type of event. she kept her eyes on the flora below in an attempt to busy herself even slightly.
“almost beautiful, huh.” yeah...that wasn’t believable.
