Pour me a glass too, would you.
Only for you, Verity.
Does it really matter if its acceptable, Padfoot?
No it doesn't really.
Only if I can come along! Work was brutal….
Course you can, Mary. Sorry to hear...
S’always acceptable to go for a drink.
This is great news.
Bloody Hell, Is it acceptable to go out for a drink now?
character development || part o1. the basics
1. What is your full name?
Sirius Orion Black
2. Where and when were you born?
Grimmauld Place in London it’s one of the family homes, on October 28th, 1959
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
The people that are the reason I was born are Walburga and Orion Black. Walburga was unemployed and played the perfect wife to guests, Orion worked in different offices that he had bought. He made sure they were being run ‘right’. I always thought he just wanted to get away from the banshee he married. She punished me a lot, I guess I did give her a ‘reason’ to do it but sometimes she would do it for the smallest things, dropping a vase for example. I think what she did could be classified as abuse; my father was indifferent to the punishments. He always ignored them or he was the one doing it. I was always afraid of Orion; I grew used to my mother’s screams but his I never liked.
The people I considered my parents where the Potters.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Siblings? Regulus was my younger brother. I tried so hard when I was younger to try to get him to see that what our parents taught us was wrong. I promised myself I wouldn’t let him turn out like them but I broke that promise. It was my fault that he ended up in Slytherin, I never wrote him a letter during my first year away and I think that drove him apart. I know that he was pretending during school and he probably still is now, that bothers me.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
I live in Chelsea, London. I’m staying in flat, it’s actually quite large. The building was once a large house but it was sold and split into floors. It’s a great place to bring a bird back to for a fuck but I’ve been trying to convince Moony to move in with me. It’s not going well.
6. What is your occupation?
I’m unemployed. Uncle Alphard left me a decent amount of gold that’ll last me a while. Most of the time I’m in pubs winning bets.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
I like to think that I’m a handsome bloke. I’m the tallest of my mates at 6’2. I have black hair and grey eyes. My hair was long before I decided to cut it; I still look great so the haircut wasn’t a bad decision. I have a lot of scars, from my mother and father, from dueling. I’m pale almost transparent, it’s hilarious. I go shopping once a year for new clothes, I’m usually in my leather jacket and jeans. I don’t try, really I just throw on whatever’s clean.
8. To which social class do you belong?
Middle class? I don’t really know. I was disowned from the best and oldest pureblood family. My uncle left me a load money and I live off of that.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
No, I’m healthy….
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right handed.
11. What does your voice sound like?
It’s deep… I couldn’t really explain it to you but I’d say it’s pretty soothing.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
I curse a lot, and say ‘Dunno’ to get out of certain things. I say ‘Well’ more than I’d like.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
My cigarettes, a lighter, a bag with a few galleons and a muggle wallet are usually in my pockets.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I smoke when I have nothing to do, whenever really. When I was younger I didn't know when to stop doing something and I was very obnoxious. I've gotten better but I still tend to say out whatever's on my mind.
Marauders :
↳ Sirius Black
"Besides, the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters. We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are."
Out on Patrol | Sirius + Mary
"Right. Got it," Mary said with a confident nod.
She paused, for a moment, glancing around them. A muggle mother was ushering her children into the market. A younger man with a push broom was sweeping up garbage and soot that had collected on the street. Nothing out of the ordinary.
"Were you drinking?" she asked Sirius with a small smile. She teased him and always had. "I felt like it… though I stuck with tea. Got to keep my wits about me!"
They paused, waiting for a taxi to pass so they could cross the street. “Do you think we should head down north? Or back towards the damage? Think we’d be able to get close to it all?”
"Well, I have nothing else to do. I won a bet the other day at a pub, I don't have to spend any money on more alcohol because I won a boat load of it." He told her as he looked around. Sirius smiled at a girl passing by and ran a hand through his hair checking for anything 'suspicious'. Everything seemed normal.
"We could try and head towards the damage, I dunno if they would let us through. You never know." Sirius turned in a circle,"Actually there are still a lot of police in the area, Let's head North and then back."
Can someone please tell me something that doesn’t have to do with hospitals, fires, injuries, or death?
Well, I won this bet at a pub the other day and got a boat load of alcohol. What about you, Lily, win any bets lately?
Out on Patrol | Sirius + Mary
"Right, yeah," she said, following him out the door and stepping down onto the sidewalk. "I saw Remus last evening, though. We’d planned to move into an old refrigerator box together if our flats were burnt to a crisp," she gave a small smile in an attempt to lighten the mood, but wasn’t exactly sure it worked.
Out on the street, Mary took notice of the heightened police force. They’d all been trained on noticing even the slightest thing, so she was always, always on alert.
"Moody doesn’t seem to think anyone was targeted," she said after a few moments. "You weren’t down here at all during it, were you? They said there were Dark Marks and I’m sure people are just horrified."
If there was one thing Mary wasn’t good at, it was being quiet. She needed to keep talking or else she’d start thinking and then worrying and it would all just go downhill from there.
"Moody give you any idea about what we’re looking for?"
Sirius looked over everything that was happening in front of them. He saw the many people on the streets including the police. They seemed to be looking out for any activity; it was odd how aware they seemed to be. He looked over at Mary listening to her. "I agree with Moody, this is a mixed community. I live in a building full of muggles but I know that there are many other wizards and witches here. The town is a big target."
"I wasn't here when it happened. I was actually a few towns over. I hope they were given a reasonable explanation for what happened. I've seen a lot of dark magic but nothing compared to that fire. Bloody Hell, they created that spell and we have no idea of how they managed to come up with it. It's all a big fucking mess." He told her reaching into his pocket to grab his cigarettes when he found nothing. Sirius chuckled at his actions and pulled his hand out of his pocket.
He shook his head. "What he told me wasn't specific but he said to look out for anything suspicious. Anything out of the ordinary. If we see or find anything we call for backup and do whatever we can."
Shattered Into Ash || Remus & Sirius
The wreckage had been horrible, the sight haunting him every time he closed his eyes, as if the image was permanently painted onto his eyelids. The building, crumbling and covered in ash, what little walls that remained crumbling. All around the old apartment building, offices and stores and everything in between laid in a similar state of destruction. It was just his luck, that the fire would take away his home, leaving him with too little money and one meager trunk full of items he couldn’t bear to lose, the one thing he’d taken the precaution of fireproofing.
And so here he was now, standing awkwardly outside his friend’s door. Remus was not one to ask for anything, no matter how dire the circumstances, nor how guaranteed the answer would be. Even with the other Marauders, it was not an easy task, though he knew any one of them would be just as willing to help him as he them. Now, though, now Remus was homeless, and, really, what other choice did he have? He needed some place to stay, and Sirius had room, Sirius wouldn’t turn him away— or so he hoped. Even Sirius could be unpredictable.
With a deep sigh of defeat, Remus lifted his arm to knock on the door, feeling the pressure of the day pressing hard on his shoulders. In the few seconds it took Sirius to open the door, Remus had already talked himself out and back into the situation multiple times. Who was he to impose on his friend like this? On the other hand… what else could he possibly do? When Sirius finally did open the door, Remus immediately held up a finger to silence him, knowing he was soot-covered and radiated exhaustion. “Before you say anything, I need a favor.”
Sirius was lounging on his living room couch gulping down a bottle of firewhiskey when he heard a knock come from his front door. The day had been stressful and he was resting. He had just come home from patrolling and hoped the visitor didn’t have anything to do with what had happened. He sighed, took a swing and drank the rest of the firewhiskey before getting up. He arrived at the door and opened it to find Remus. He was sober enough to realize something was really wrong. He snapped out of his mood and looked over his friend as he spoke.
“Of course you can, Moony. What happened?” He asked worriedly. “Wait, come on in and tell me.” He told Remus stepping aside. Sirius waited until Remus was in before he closed the door to the flat. Sirius looked over at the mess he had left and flicked his wand, cleaning it within seconds. He went into the kitchen; his gaze went back up to his friend quickly.
“Do you want anything to drink?” He spoke already getting bottles out. Sirius was worried and really the only way he could get Remus to talk was to get him a little intoxicated. He knew that Remus had always felt awkward about asking for favors and that he really was as stubborn as a mule. Sirius would help him with anything he asked, if he was able to, without question.
Out on Patrol | Sirius + Mary
Mary smiled, entering his flat once he’d answered the door. She, of course, knew he was fine but it was good to see her friends in one piece after a night like last night.
"Yes, everything’s fine. Little dirty at the moment but the fire was a good two blocks away from me. Glad to see you’re all in one piece as well. Has Remus seen if his place is alright?" she asked, watching him as he deposited his lighter on the table. She was glad— the cigarette smoke made her nose itch, but she never wanted to tell him that. If he needed to smoke, he needed to smoke!
"I see you’ve been in touch with Moody, too. I’m ready, yeah… thought we’d start down by the market and out from there? I mean, unless you have another idea of course."
He frowned. "Remus hasn't gotten back to me actually. Everyone else is alright though, right?" Sirius ran a hand through his hair his mood suddenly changed.
Sirius didn't want to worry about Remus at the moment, he wanted to focus on what he was doing at the moment. That, however, was very hard but he remembered the reason why they were going on patrol. He turned back to Mary and smiled, though it felt and probably looked fake. He tugged on his jacket once more and made his way to the door. "Yeah, I actually volunteered to go out on patrol, Moody was happy that I did. It's seems like a good plan to me." He told her opening the door leading the way.
"Let's go, Mary?" He nodded his head a bit, stepping out of the flat.
Out on Patrol | Sirius + Mary
There was still a haze of soot and smoke in the air as Mary left her own, unharmed apartment and hurried down the streets of Chelsea towards Sirius’ flat. It was only a few blocks, but even on the short stretch she could see evidence of the damage from the fire. Soot on snow.
Reaching Sirius’s flat, she knocked on the door three quick times.
"Sirius? Sirius, open up, its Mary!"
Sirius heard knocking and a familiar voice from his spot on his couch. He pushed himself up and walked to the door looking through the peephole to find Mary standing on the other side. He opened the door greeting her with a nod and a smile. "You're alright then MacDonald? Your place is still up?" He asked her stepping aside to let her into his flat.
"Are you ready to patroll?" Sirius raised an eyebrow leaning on the wall. He pulled his cigarettes out of his pocket along with his muggle lighter and laid it on the table deciding against taking the items with him. He stood straight and looked at Mary.
Good work, team.
Cheers, mate. I know, still not sure how they invented it but as long as we can stop it now we’re covered. And no, unfortunately it wasn’t, we’d have had that out before it killed nine people.
There probably was some of it involved with the spell, they might've made a few 'modifications' to it. Alright then, who else is going to be patrolling with me?
Good work, team.
Excellent, God rest your soul. Eh…they’re normally active between eight at night and dawn, so just…keep an eye out, be ready for anything. Anything suspicious, and I mean anything, even if you’re convinced it was just a stray cat, you get your arse out there and call for backup.
Okay, easy instructions. I'm on it. That fire was horrible, Moody. I've seen a lot of dark magic but nothing that could turn a small fire into what that was. It wasn't uh, fiendfyre was it?
Good work, team.
Blast it all. We’ve got to get our shit together instead of running about squawking like headless chickens. We’ll have to set up a permanent guard out there to patrol the area, see if they come back for seconds. Think you’re up to the task?
Yeah, of course. I'm in the area and willing. Do you have specific directions for me?
Good work, team.
Stand up straight when you’re talking to me, boyo. And no, we haven’t, thanks for the reminder. They covered their tracks this time. Least now we’ve figured out how to stop that particular curse. Death toll’s gone up plenty, too. Weren’t you supposed to be out there searchin’ for clues yourself?
Glad to hear it, mate.
Yes, of course Moody. Well damn, I tried and they didn't leave shite. Witnesses couldn't give descriptions of any of the Death Eaters.
