Nice day for a white wedding | Lily & James
James could nearly feel his heart bursting in his chest. She seemed to take ages to walk up the isle but he didn’t mind. He watched as the dress trailed behind her, the lace glistening in the sun. In her hands was a beautiful bouquet of roses which brought James’ eyes down to her stomach. James shifted in his place and felt more sweat build up in his palms. He licked his lips but continued to smile at her. He could feel Sirius’ warmth radiating from right next to him but James didn’t bother to tear his eyes from her. He could feel the sun beating down on his neck, and through the black suit he felt the warmth radiate throughout his body. After a few moments Lily finally reached the alter. He watched as her veil got lifted and he took in her face. Her pink cheeks and her red lips. James got a strong urge to kiss her, right then but he resisted. He knew he had to wait until the end. It was unbelievable, here she was- ready to marry him. To actually marry him. James knew he had never felt so happy in his entire life.
James brought his hand out and took her smaller ones in his and as she let go of the person giving her away, He gently tugged at her hand until she was standing next to him. James couldn’t take his eyes off her, even when the pastor announced the opening lines of the ceremony. He watched as the shadows in her hair turned between red and orange. Her eyes looked bright and shinning under the sunlight. James squeezed her hand again and then leaned into her. “I love you.” He whispered. He caught the warning glance of the minister but ignored it. James glanced down at Lily and gave her another smile.
James shifted in his place as the man talked on and on and finally it was his moment. They had both agreed to write there own vows and even though James had spoken his aloud to his mates over and over, they weren’t even close to perfect. “Lily Evans.” James started off, he smiled nervously down at her, “I have loved you so much, for so long.” He took a deep breath and continued, “I will always love you, until i die. I had always hoped that we would be together, that we would grow old and be cranky elderly folks together.” James smiled warmly, “We now have that chance. I will always be with you, through sickness and in health.” James reached over and lightly touched her face, “You will always be my love, my beautiful Lily. I know in my heart we can handle the fights that might happen, the sorrows that we might have and through it all, through this war- we will never part. You are my only love, til death due us part, i take you as my wife. I love you.”
Why was the aisle so long? It only seemed to grow in meters as she walked, and it took far longer than it should have, at least in her mind, for her to finally reach James. Her veil was removed, and for the first time that day she was able to raise her emerald eyes to his hazel, a large smile growing on her face as she handed her bouquet over to Dorcas, breaking her gaze for only a small moment. And then, she was able to go back to James. James, her James, who was perfect in every way, and standing in front of her, an equally large smile across his face as well.
Carefully, she came to stand directly next to him, and together, they turned to face the minister. Lily tried her hardest to pay attention to what was coming out of the man's mouth, but it was just so, so hard when she was next to him. She could see his messy black hair out of her peripheral vision, the smile on her face only growing. And before she knew what to do, he came closer, and whispered to his ear. Lily couldn't help herself when she turned to face him, seeing only his profile, as he had turned to face the minister. Blushing, Lily turned her face back, but not before whispering back to him. "I love you too."
And then it was time for the vows. Turning her entire body so that she was facing him, and listened carefully. She wanted to remember this moment forever. And as James began to speak, the smile on Lily's face only grew larger, and slowly, she felt tears begin to well in her eyes. And then, it was time for hers. Lily had only said her vows out loud once before, to her mother, one night as she sat in the hospital with her. Slowly, the redhead took a deep breath, before offering James a smile. "James Potter," she started, taking a moment to wipe the tears from her face. "Had anyone told me five years ago that I would be marrying you, today, I probably would have hexed them, or, at the very least, attempted to throw a punch their way. And yet, today, here I am. With you. And I couldn't be happier to be here." Taking yet another deep breath, she swallowed carefully, before continuing, "Thank you, James. For not giving up on me. For continuing, to try, and continuing to love me. I will always love you, James Potter, until the day that I die, and every day after that."
