HA:TFELT - Iron Girl Was it even a shock that this mini album was as good as it was? Like. Of course Yeeun did.
Kate Boy - Northern Lights colour in, colour out Those Scandinavians and their synthpop.
Khushi - Magpie i want you, not somebody As much as I know this is probably not ACTUALLY the prettiest most atmospheric song I have ever listened to in my life, every time I hear it I want to declare it so. Khushi knows what he's doing. I'm constantly deeply upset he doesn't have a full LP yet.
Temples - Keep in the Dark just hang the sunshine This is like, the most Beatles-influenced band on a planet that is littered with bands influenced by the Beatles, but also I'M SO INTO THEIR INSTRUMENTATION.
Marit Larsen - Traveling Alone it's gonna get messy, it's gonna look bad This album came out the same week as Taylor Swift's album. Who has time to mess around with Taylor Swift when Marit Larsen has a new album?!?!?! Serious life questions. (I love this girl a lot.)
Lucius she felt comatose waiting for this thing to grow This is the kind of music video that makes me think "god, I love music videos". I don't even hate the intro, which is unusual for me. Does liking this video that much make me a hipster?
Indila - Dernière Danse je ne suis qu'un être sans importance sans lui je suis un peu "paro" je déambule seule dans le metro une dernière danse My issue with french pop in general is that it is overly influenced by Edith Piaf. Who I love. But I don't want her in my CRAPPY POP MUSIC. This is a rare exception.
The National - Fireproof you tell me you’re waiting to find someone who isn’t so hopeless but there’s no one I don't love the National like everyone loves the national (because everyone loves the National). I listen to their albums, and invariably I love one song and forget about the rest. But I love that song. Anyway. This is one of those.
Rae Morris - Closer conscious cards are on the table our house is so unstable but i'm not leaving you behind Carrie Bradshaw meets Imogen Heap meets weird interpretative dance. If that sentence didn't make you need to click play, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW YOU.
C.N. Blue - Still In Love stabirabi rapststabira I want your love [Insert obvious pun about still being in love with this song.]
Kimbra - As You Are honey i wanna feel something sacred, away from your flashing lights honey i was yours in the dark of the night
Rob Cantor - Flamingo flamingo, rosa y negro There honestly aren't that many bands I love on what I may start calling the Tally Hall level, where I not only know the names of all the individual members mostly off the top of my head, but also can tell what they contribute musically. "This song is so Andrew Horowitz!!", etc. Anyway. This song convinced me that Rob Cantor is an even stronger influence on What I Love About Tally Hall (which is beautiful weirdness) than I had previously realized. Anticipate the bridge.
Jake Bugg - Me and You it's all over all of the time
The Twoks - Sailor hey sailor if you sail again take my bottle, will ya? i wrote a note, black and blue - send it for me, will ya? "Isn't this one of your old songs?" my dad wanted to know, this summer when he heard this. No, Dad, I just seem to be into all the songs about sailors.
Beulah - Fooled With The Wrong Guy i've got the biggest heart you've ever torn apart It's weird that a person as sentimental as I am has maintained a blog about songs I love for this long (even off and on as this one is) without ever posting anything by my very favorite band. So. Here's one.
Russian Red - Michael i get so lonely, lonely, lonely when you're gone
f(x) - Red Light listen carefully to the whoever is trying to warn us Every summer, f(x) puts out a new song and people complain about how they always put out terrible lead singles, and every summer I DON'T GET IT AT ALL.
