“Why are there so many di’kute out?”
"Can someone give me something to shoot?"

Sev didn’t flush but his body language clearly showed that he was uncomfortable. About what exactly, he couldn’t determine. He just was.
“Missed you, too.”
He looked up at Cael and forced a smile, lips a smidge away from being thinly pressed together. Sev definitely was glad to see Cael, glad to see anybody from his “past life” alive and wanting to keep in touch.
Cael dropped his head to hide a smile. It felt so weird smiling–smiling, especially, because of Sev, of all people.
“You, ah, look good, Sev. It’s good seeing you. I was just about to go out for caf if you… wish to join me.”
“I’d only join you quicker if it were time for something stronger.” Sev deflected the remark about looking good, not quite feeling like it. “You’re driving, though.”
“Ordo called me a friend. I knew it.” B)
“Don’t push it.”
“We have almost matching paint colors. We’re obviously meant to be friends.”
“That’s your rationale? I thought you’d pick something better than that.”
“Our love of violence?”

“You are so kind to me.”
Someone’s gotta do it.

Demala let out a soft “woo!” as she dropped backwards, her back to his back and the whole world flipped upside down. With her weight, her strength, and his grip on her one leg, she was sure he could handle it — and, generally, any time she could use him as a jungle gym was a fine time.
“I’m not a moocher, Ori’ori,” she huffed, upside down, lethorns flying free as she crossed her arms over her chest, her free leg crossed over her knee behind his head.
They certainly made a sight, if anyone had half a mind to pay them any attention at all.
She tilted her head up—down—just a tad more, and watched the grains of the floor run past, until they stopped. She unhooked her arms and stretched them up—down—as she wiggled her free leg until he released her.
A perfect little handstand, a twirl on one hand and she landed delicately on both feet. Rise to stand, hands up in the air, the crowd goes wild —
Wait. Did he say?
She spun on her heel, clapping her hands together.
“Earn it? Finally.”
Sev had only seen the ending of Demala’s acrobatic stunts and nothing truly surprised him about her anymore, but it was nice to see someone who had been through so much be so...free.
“You’re not taking one of my weapons. However, I have a few favors I can call in to get you a proper item.” After the code was input, the clips on the crate flipped up and if he were showing this to anybody else, they would have probably gasped. Weapons lined the lid and there were stacks that Sev had pulled out. Each section was carefully organized with the lighter weaponry tending to be towards the top and heavier on the bottom. Ammo packs were situated next to each weapon.
He stood again, hands on his hips and his back straight once again. “So,” Sev said with a motion indicating the guns on the floor. “What do you feel like?”

She gasped at the speed up, and the jump he made was met with surprise. But, of course, she still cleanly made the duck under a passing branch and she let out a loud trill of clearly pleased giggles. Some effort to regain her balance was had, but again — easily done when someone held on to her legs safely.
“Supply me, please. I never—” her hands came up to make the scare quotes, and even though he couldn’t see them he must hear it in her voice, “— ‘earned’ the big stuff.”
“Still mooching off of me, I see.” His tone had a hint of seriousness in it but he meant it in nothing but jest. Anything to help Demala, really.
On sharp turn, they were heading back upstairs, back from where Demala had already came. It wasn’t his fault that his quarters--his bedroom--was located up there. He let go of one of her legs and ducked down low, definitely not wanting to nail the rider’s head against the door frame, and stepped inside, already moving to the box that contained damn near all his weapons.
“Well, you’re earning it today, vod’ika.”

And just like that, the mood took a turn, even darker than what Sev expected to happen. “Sorry,” he muttered, lowering his gaze. Had he disappointed Cael? Why was he taking this so personally?
Color rushed into his cheeks and Cael lost all composure. He waved a hand at the other man. “Oh, no, no, no, no, Sev. I was just teasing you.” Then he bit his lip. A lot had happened since the war–everybody, including Cael, was coping in different ways. A little on edge at all times. Cael reached out and patted Sev on the arm. “I did miss you, though.”
