Alright just because EVERYBODY asked for it, here's my top 3 reasons why Ian mckellen and Patrick Stewart should NOT be the main Professor X and Magneto of Avengers Doomsday
Ian Mckellen has a solid background onstage, as well as Patrick Stewart. During filming of The Hobbit, when Mckellen had to do a scene in front of a completely green screened room, acting at props instead of people, he broke down into tears because he didn't feel like he was REALLY acting. You really expect me to believe that these men have NO problems acting almost entirely on a green screen set?
2: We already have actors with much better chemistry (imo)
I love old man yaoi as much as the next guy, but these guys are almost too old. Mckellen is 87, Stewart is 86.
Meanwhile, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are 47 and 49 respectively. There's still time for them to play the roles in a REALISTIC fashion, even with minimal aging makeup, and their bodies will more than likely be able to handle the wirework necessary to be in a modern superhero movie. Plus their onscreen chemistry is far better, I truly believed those mfs were in love from the start.
I can't see Stewart delivering the line 'There is so much more to you than you know, Erik. Not just pain and anger. There is good too. I felt it.' with the same ADORATION that was in McAvoy's delivery
3: We've already seen Professor X die 4 fucking times, we don't need another one.
The main plotline for the X-Men in avengers Doomsday is most likely going to revolve around the members from the 2000's movies being decimated by Doctor Doom to show how powerful he is. That being said, this most likely will include some of the members of the X-Men being killed, one of which will likely be Professor X, just to show how 'ruthless' Doctor Doom is. Like he isn't just killing a 86 year old man. Probably two, counting Magneto as well since they seem to be working/living together in the X-Men trailer for Doomsday.
All that to say, I really just wish they cast the guys from the 2010 movies. Thank god they brought James Marsden back tho.
