Time and place: England, the late 1970's.

Story: The tragic story of two punks who fell in love and died very young. Very popular in mass media like Romeo and Juliet of our time.

Persons:

Sid Vicious (bassist in The Sex Pistols)

Nancy Spungen (Sid's girlfriend)

Malcolm McLaren (band manager)

Interesting facts:

Nancy was slaughtered in a bathroom in 20 years old and Sid died in 21 after half year by overdose.

Sid' real name - John Simon Ritchie.

Sid and Nancy were geroin addicts.

Sid was accused of her murder but released on bail.

They often used to say that they wanted die young at the peak of their fame.

Sid never played on bass guitar on good enough level.

All his friends saw in Nancy a danger for Sid.

Sid's ashes were scattered over Nancy's grave.

Nancy's mother created foundation for drug addicted children.

London hase a museum in honor of Sid Vicious.

Their love wasn't so ideal like most of people used to think. Just a competent PR by their band manager.

It's unknown, was it Sid's suicide or not. It could be an overdose or even murder.

According to of the most popular version Sid could be murdered by his mother who didn't wanted he put in jail.

Nancy's murder wasn't solved. It could be Sid, drug diller or just someone from Nancy's friends.

Boston Tea Party

All my life I used to think that it was a real party (with pies, dance and songs) but it’s not. I hope, my article is not in a contrary with history lessons in American school...

Time and place: Boston Harbor 16 December 1773

Story: A group of about 100 people dropped 342 boxes of tea in the water from 3 British cargo ships.

Persons:

Samuel Adams (Leader)

Paul Revir (took part in the dropping)

Sons of Freedom (American revolution organization)

Tomas Hutchinson (Royal Governor)

British soldiers (on guard)

Reasons: This event was a culmination of protests against the tea law initiated by British parliament inthe same year. It was more profitable to buy a tea from Dutch or smugglers because it without taxes. Specifically in Boston it was because governor refused to bring tea back in the Britain.

Aftermath: This was a key event of the American Revolution in 1775 which start near Boston a short time later.

Interesting facts:

Protesters were dressed like Indians. It was because this protest was illegal and also it was a symbol that Americans are not British lieges anymore.

British solders and colonists understood clearly that everyone knows there are not Indians.

It was destroyed about 45 tons of tea (70000 pounds).

Nothing expect a tea were destroyed that day.

Boxes were damaged in order nobody can use it if catch from the water.

A lot of citizens didn't drink tea during some time in solidarity.

In other 3 states protests against a tea were more successful and all ships just return in Britain with a tea.

Benjamin Franklin offered to pay for the destroyed tea but Britain refused to him.

How to improve your memory

At first, I wanted to place here a pic with pretty girl with books or art with brain like in all same articles like this. But I really don’t like it. Augmented polar fox from Deus Ex would be much better, I think:)

Advices, techniques and other

Motivation. Find 2-3 any reasons why it is important to memorize that information.

Emotional response. Using senses to memorize. Imagine how it smells or looks for saturated response in memory.

Evocatives

Choose any word and make a chain of evocatives with that.

Choose two words that don't have any symirarity and lead a chain of evocatives between them.

Choose two or more words and select a one general evocatives for them.

Training with unusual and rare evocatives.

Structure the information

The Roman Room Technique - imagine any room and set all received information there. Then trying to remember all of it.

Write all received information by schemes and spreadsheets.

Repetition

Set up additional goals when learning text. For example, answer the questions about the text.

Briefly retell yourself the learned information.

The first retelling must be done right after having read the text.

Repeat the information by the following method: right after/20 minutes/8 hours/24 hours (to learn for a short period of time) and right after/30 minutes/1 day/2 weeks/2 months (to keep it forever).

Mnemonics

Alphanumeric code. Assign a letter to every number and remember the information by constructing a word or a phrase of them. Can be useful for phone numbers.

Assign a word to each number and make a story of them. Assigned objects should look similar to numbers.

Memorize numbers by linking them to famous dates and events in the history.

Memorize information by poetry.

Other techniques

Schulte Tables.

For developing photographic memory abilities one should close eyes after having watched the object and try to remember it in the imagination in details..

Game with matches. Expand some matches on a table, remember how they are placed than turn around and expand other matches like they were on the first table. Reduce time and increase amount of matches in order to progress.

Add more details to the Roman Room. Smells, tastes, sounds etc.

Auditory memory can be improoved by reading aloud.

Learning poetry by heart is useful as well.

Listen to different dialogues and recall it in the mind in all details.

Sinking of the RMS Titanic

Well, after weeks of thinking what I should do with my blog I decided return to my articles. I love to make different little notes about everything. And have to practite in english a lot. Funny photoshop (not good, actually) I love too. So it will be too. With polar foxes. I love them^^

Time and place: In the night of 15 April 1912, north of the atlantic ocean.

Story: The most luxurious and biggest transatlantic liner at that date strucked an iceberg in its first voyage and sank with a lot of causalties.

Aftermath: The patterns how to cunstruct and control ships, as all the traditional rules at that time were relevant only for sailing vessels.

Causes of the disaster:

Outdated safety (small amount of boats etc).

Bad preparation of the team and absence of test-drive.

Incompetence of the captain (Edward John Smith) to make decision in emergency situations.

Save boats were droped thin at first. Only with children and woman.

Absence of binoculars on the ship (it is claimed that they were in a safe but the key had been lost)

Scrimping on the ship's constructional materials.

Too low waterline.

Absence of the moon, no wind and the effect of the false horizon because of which the iceberg had not been seen.

Ignoring ice warnings from other ships in the area.

In fact, technically Titanic was endurable and pretty safe for such an accident

The ship were divided into two parts

It was not a crash - the iceberg just finessed the right bort of Titanic.

The captain refused to leave the ship.

Except Titanic there were two similar ships - Olimpic and Britanic. The first was demolished in 1935 (became outdated), the second hit on a mine in WWI (had the function of a sea hospital).

Titanic rests in a depth about 3700 metres in an ocean rift.

If Titanic had faced the iceberg and not had been finessed by it, the people could have survived (but with casualties in the front part of the ship).

A norwegian poaching fishing vessel considered the SOS signal as an order to give up and escaped from Titanic.

The crash resulted in 1496 victims who died in most cases because of hypothermia.
