i've been thinking that i'm non-binary recently (still not sure about it), but i wouldn't call myself trans, even though it's the bigger umbrella term. i just feel that as an amab "demiboy"/demiguy i don't experience "enough" dysphoria

i've even been thinking that i might be bigender since i've had a female persona in my head for a very long time and i wouldn't mind if i was able to switch between a male/female body at will

why is this gender shit hard to figure out!!!

as for the second part, i'd rather have an androgynous or masculine body. getting a female body out of nowhere wouldn't really be something that i'd want. tried out she/her for some time and it didn't feel right. i could present fem in a visual way on occasion ig

i've been considering low-dose hrt (when i get outta here) to get a more androgynous body, but i really don't want the "area below" to shrink and the "area above" to grow, so to speak

i feel incredibly disgusted when i'm treated with an expectation of being a masculine man. not just in a societal and gnc way, but viscerally, on the level of my body, my mind, and the whole concept of self

i view myself as male-aligned just enough for me to be comfortable using the term "gay" instead of something like "achillean", which i never cared for. when i'm with a man i feel more comfortable enhancing my masculinity to enable a more "gay" dynamic. which i suppose could be some kind of genderfluidity

meanwhile, my feminine self is just that, feminine. i don't feel like a woman or particularly want to feel like one. sometimes i want to present in a more feminine way, but my inner perception of gender remains non-binary

the thought of a silly scenario like being trapped in a cis female body after pressing a button is genuinely stressful to me. and sometimes it's fun to be mistaken for a woman, but i know that if it was more consistent i wouldn't feel that way anymore

in the past i used to lash out at egg and forcefem jokes, and i thought i was just suppressing my "true" transfem self out of insecurity. turns out i was just overreacting and perceiving them as telling me what gender i must be, when that was never the goal of those jokes anyway. some people can genuinely take it too far, but it's better to give grace rather than assume malice

i want to move my body more towards androgyny/subdued masculinity. i'm open to trying low dose estrogen and lasering off my body (and possibly) facial hair if i could ever afford it somehow

i think i first started using he/they in 2022. i feel like more of a they/he on occasion

Wool - Contrary to what bullshit mongers like PETA would have you believe, wool is one of the most ethical materials humans have ever worked with. Happy sheep make better wool, experienced shearers seldom nick their sheep, and older sheep produce more wool, meaning its best to keep them alive and treat them well for many years.

Leather - one cow makes SO MUCH leather. One deer makes SO MUCH leather. Well-treated leather lasts almost FOREVER. Even animals with small skins like rabbits, a pair of well oiled rabbit leather gloves will last decades. Every animal usually made into leather is also a meat animal, so it’s more sustainable to get more than one product from a single ethically butchered animal (humane kills make less punctures in the hide!) Leather can be tanned with natural resources like brains and doesn’t require treatment with chemicals that seep into the groundwater!

Cotton: Cotton is a fucking plant, it burns. The growing and harvesting of cotton is rather water intensive but it IS possible to sustainably harvest and reuse the water spent in the cleaning process to reduce the ecological footprint of the crop. It burns clean, it cuts clean, it’s sturdy, and there are 1000 ways to weave it to change its properties.

Bees & Honey: yes yes, the european honey bee is an invasive species, we know that. But honey has been cultivated by humans for just about as long as there have been humans, and they 100% choose to be cultivated. Like bees can and will leave if they’re not treated and maintained well. They understand that humans protect and clean the hives, and often become familiar with their keepers, choosing to walk on and investigate them instead of acting defensive. If animal welfare and consent are your concerns, honeybees aren’t the animals to worry about. If you, like me, are worried about native bee species, instead of creating hives you can strip an area of grass and leave an open area of clay and sandy soil to attract mason and digger bees to nest in the spring. They will happily coexist with honey bees as long as you plant the native keystone species the native bees rely on (like indian blanket flower, partridge pea, native violets in my area) as well as the high nectar plants that honeybees prefer (like roses, sunflowers, bee balm and cone flowers). Nature is actually really adaptable and accommodating of the human urge to cultivate plants and animals, and the idea that nature is ‘dead’ rather than ‘neglected’ is something that corporations want you to believe so you don’t oppose them spraying pesticides every 15 feet.

not a fan of ppl who treat being leftist as some kind of school clique. and it feels bad to say bc i don't wanna sound like a dipshit. but some people want emotional catharsis from being correct more than actual liberation of peoples and a better world

and i know where it comes from to some degree, but we gotta be better than that, or we're going to make many mistakes and maybe even leave blind spots. in worst case coopting oppressive ideology but worded in a "progressive" way, in a somewhat less worse case, splitting hairs over flags, labels or whatnot

i think a lot of it comes from inexperience of participating or organizing in the physical reality rather than online, including myself. and we should strive to participate, at least within our means and capabilities. ofc not everyone is able to

and there's "educate yourself" which has kind of become a meme, it shouldn't just be used as a gotcha. if you have resources to share, then do, if the other person still doesn't care, well, at least you tried

if you see an especially annoying person online, block and move on rather than try to win the argument. it is very very very tempting to leave a snarky response but think about the bigger picture, would it even matter?

and in some cases there should be a balanced, neutral viewpoint. if you automatically antagonize a person over a small misgiving rather than evaluating them fully, you could be missing out on a chance to help them be better. or not. just think it over a bit

like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point
