there is something so intimate about sakura and sasori’s fight at the end. especially sakura punching him and his face and sasori stabbing her with the sword.

sasori who hasn’t revealed himself outside of his puppet in years, let alone use his own body to fight

sasori who is a long distance fighter and never gets up close to his opponent

sasori who is pushed to his limit and finally uses his own hand to attempt to end sakura’s life by stabbing his sword into her. and then they stay there for a while, pushing and pulling while looking into each others eyes. sakura with passion yet exhaustion, and sasori in awe with an almost soft yet deeply intense expression in his wide eyed gaze.

sasori who hasn’t had someone touch him in probably over a decade is hit so hard by sakura that it leaves cracks on his face. he cannot physically feel the pain but he can feel the impact as his head flips to the side. no one has gotten that up and personal to him in a very long time.

and his changed expression when he uses his own body shows he is capable of feeling emotion, as we also see at the end with it being implied that the sight mother and father puppets stopped him from dodging their attacks with their swords which would end his life.

This is why SasoSaku became a thing,

Not only was this the first BIG Sakura Fight, we're she gets to show all she learned and get the spotlight over her and not a Naruto for a chance. This was personal and deep since before they met.

Even before they exchanged blows, it was a battle between poison vs medicine, apathy vs passion. Forced solitude vs the desire to connect. That's why their interaction were so rich and narratively interesting.

And the best part is that they respected each other as a worthy opponents ! Sasori and Chigo acknowledged Sakura and her strengths, and Sakura never underestimated Sasori. They worked sooo well as narrative foils.

They interactions in canon were great, and when we add a romantic component there, just cheff kiss.

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af

i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience

say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!

I love being able to write my own fics to give my own spin to a story.

You know this scene in Naruto, the whole reason the dude bro's hated Sakura for ages, the one when she is speaking with Sasuke and she tells him that Naruto is 'lucky' for not having parents that tell him what to do ? While is was a callous comentary is was made trough her limited perception as a tween girl, and she immediately tried to do better from there on.

Well, I'm writing the first chapter of a fanfic and I'm making a parallel scene. Sasuke is also ignorant and prejudiced towards her, he doesn't know her and how her home life is. While it's not canon, whe got a glimpse of how her parents dont respect her shinobi career and dismiss her in the Road to Ninja movie. And in my fic it's Naruto who's going to open his eyes! It's feeling sooo good already. Cannot wait until is ready to post it.

Also, as a fun fact. Sakura is going to be Kakuzu granddaughter here 👀 Mom and Dad still practically the same, but that small change is going to shift some things.
