CLEVELAND OFFICER MICHAEL BRELO HAS JUST BEEN ACQUITTED OF MANSLAUGHTER IN THE MURDERS OF TIMOTHY RUSSELL AND MALISSA WILLIAMS.
Officer Michael Brelo was one of 13 officers who shot at Timothy Russell and his passenger, Malissa Williams, during a chase through the Cleveland area on Nov. 29, 2012. Police officers fired 137 rounds at the car, prosecutors have said, including 49 by Officer Brelo.
Officer Brelo climbed onto the carâs hood and fired at least 15 rounds from close range, including the fatal shots.
Officer Brelo opted for a bench trial before Judge John P. OâDonnell of the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Defense attorneys said their client had feared for his life and believed gunfire was coming from Mr. Russellâs car. No gun was recovered.
Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell were unarmed.
The DOJ has announced that they will review the Brelo case.
You can read the full text of the #BreloVerdict here.
Hereâs everything you need to know about the murders of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.
link & zelda
The above images are from Hyrule Warriors, the new Zelda fighting game. Remember the trope I talked about earlier: that in action flicks and games women are either modestly dressed damsels with little agency, or, if they are tough or have a firey personality, they become sexualized and scantily clad? Notice when Zelda becomes more âbadassâ her outfit gets more revealing/sexier. This is the sexiest and most revealing yet. They gave her cleavage, a corset and replaced her long skirt with shorts. Look at the progression of her costume below:
In her first appearance in a 3D game (Ocarina of Time). Zeldaâs costume is completely modest and covers nearly her entire body, even her neck, with only a small amount of forearm visible above her long gloves. Her dress has drape-y material on the torso, de-emphasizing her breasts.
In Melee, we get a teensy bit more arm exposure, but itâs still incredibly modest. Zelda is a fighter, but she is graceful and her moves are magic based. She is designed based on Ocarina of time. All of the âbadasseryâ of Zelda is contained her alter-ego Sheik, who fights like a ninja and wears a tight outfit, allowing Zelda to remain dainty, pretty and ladylike and thus less threatening to men.
(Wii U Super Smash Brothers on the left; Brawl Zelda on the right)
Twilight Princess and Brawl Zelda lose the neck covering, lose the drapey quality and use tighter material on her torso, and use a lower cut dress. Not to mention a bareback:
The WIi-U version of Zelda is similar, but bustier with an even lower cut dress, which becomes clearer when you compare Brawl, which is pretty modest:
With Wii U Smash where the breasts are larger and the dress is lower cut:
As Zelda becomes âedgierâ and darker and separated from Sheik, she becomes a bit more sexualized. But cleavage is definitely de-emphaszied (censored actually) and itâs much, much better treatment than many other female fighters getâshe still wears what is, overall, a modest gown.
But then Hyrule Warriors is a big departure. Zelda has more skin showing and her curves are more emphasized with cleavage, boob-emphasizing armor, and a corset. She loses the modest gown entirely which are replaced by short-shorts and a long loin cloth thing. In Hyrule Warriors, Zelda is completely divorced from her âpureâ damsel in distress persona (or even graceful lady-like persona) and fights just like the male characters and even, for the first time, with a sword. She gets more armor, but unlike her male counterparts, itâs mostly decorative armor with titillating and impractical gaps.
Yes, this outfit isnât nearly as revealing or sexy as a lot of female character designs in gaming (including other female characters in this game), but my point is to illustrate this trope in action. And just imagine Link or Ganondorf in an outfit like this and realize how silly it would look and how impractical it is (especially with a corset that limits breathing and mobility). Look at how Link is fully covered in the top picture and compare Zeldaâs current costume with her Ocarina of Time one.Â
In order to make Zelda less âdainty,â modest and ladylike and take away her evening gown, the only option in a male-dominated medium is to sexualize her. This trend in pop culture mirrors the whore/madonna dichotomy wherein women and girls have the option of being modest/pure/quiet/lady-like or scantily clad/sexualized/visible/tough. Zelda has typically been in the former category. One technique Nintendo has used to get around those limitations in modern games is by giving Zelda alter-egos like Sheik and Tetra, but making Zelda firmly dainty and lady-like once she assumes her âprincess form.â
In Hyrule Warriors, which exists entirely outside of the Zelda canon and was designed by Team Ninja and Omega Force (who designed Dynasty Warriors) and is supposed to amp up all the characters making them into âWarriors,â Zelda cannot be confined to the madonna role and is thus sexualized. Although itâs worth noting that granting her more agency and âedginessâ in Twilight Princess already resulted in a small but significant decrease in the modesty of her costume.Â
And donât even get me started on the other female characters in Hyrule Warriors, who make Zelda look like a nun in comparison:
These characters have no âpureâ image attached to them at all so the game can go all out in sexualizing them completely (whereas the game can only go so far in divorcing Zelda from her pure image). Impa in Hyrule Warriors is probably the only humanoid female character you can play in game who isnât objectified or sexualized to any degree and breaks from the stereotypeâprobably because Nintendo went out of their way to make Impa androgynous in Skyward Sword and that is the design Hyrule Warriors goes with. The trope gets broken from in rare moments, but that doesnât invalidate its reality. In fact the only Zelda characters I can think of who sorta break from the trope (Impa and Tetra) are androgynous or masculine, which tells you a lot.
And before anyone mentions Ghirahim, who is male but has an outfit that is revealing: Ghirahim is strongly queer coded and he has queer coded mannerisms for laughs, like sighing and whipping his hair out of his face. In Skyward Sword, he even hits on Link. His design is humorous and is homophobic. And anyway, this only emphasizes my point: that stripping clothes from a character is a way of stripping power from them. Hetero-coded male characters get no such treatment hardly ever.
I love your versions, especially when they make imagining the rest of the movie with your Anna & Elsa more fun... for example, your Anna in the 'just woke up scene' became ten times more fun because curly thick hair just... goes everywhere if you sleep with it out (I should know!). Thank you, and may the haters perpetually face connectivity issues with their internet before they can come on your page and bother you.
Thank you! :D

"Here in America, every single state has standards for every subject, a collection of lessons that the teacherâs required to teach by the end of the term.
But the greatest lessons you will ever teach us will not come from your syllabus.
The greatest lessons you will ever teach us, you will not even remember.
You never told us what we werenât allowed to say; we just learned how to hold our tongues. Now somewhere in America, there is a child holding a copy of Catcher in the Rye, and there is a child holding a gun. But only one of these things has been banned by their state government, and its not the one that can rip through flesh.
Itâs the one that says âfuck youâ on more pages than one. Because we must control what the people say, how they think, and if they want to become the overseer of their own selves, then weâll show them a real one.
And somewhere in America, there is a child sitting at his motherâs computer, reading the homepage of the KKKâs website. That is open to the public. But that child will have never read To Kill a Mockingbird because its school has banned it for its use of the n-word.
Maya Angelou is prohibited because weâre not allowed to talk about rape in school. We were taught that just because something happens, doesnât mean you are to talk about it.Â
They build us brand new shopping malls so that weâll forget where weâre really standing
on the bones of the Hispanics,Â
on the bones of the slaves,Â
on the bones of the Native Americans,Â
on the bones of those who fought just to speak.
Trans-Continental Railroad to Japanese internment camps, there are things missing from our history books. But we were taught that it is better to be silent than to make them uncomfortable.Â
Somewhere in America, a private school girl search for hours through boutiques trying to find the prom dress of their dreams. While kids on the south side spend hours searching through lost and found, cause winterâs coming soon and thatâs the only jacket they have.
Kids are late to class for working the midnight shift, they give awards for best attendance, but not for keeping your family off the streets.
Kids will call your music is ghetto, they will tell you you donât talk right, then theyâll get in the back of a car with all their friends, singing bout how theyâre bout that life and we canât stop.
Somewhere in America, schools are promoting self-confidence, while they whip out their scales and shout out your body fat percentage in class. While heftier girls are hiding away, and the slim-fit beauties canât help but giggle with pride.
The preppy kids go thrift shopping because they think it sounds real fun, but we go because thatâs all we got money for cause mama work for the city, mama only gets paid once a month.
Somewhere in America, a girl is getting felt up by a grown man on the subway. Sheâs still in her school uniform, and thatâs part of the appeal. Itâs hard to run in knee socks and mary janes and all her male teachers know it too.
Coaches cover up star players raping freshmen after the dance. Women are killed for rejecting dates. But God forbid I bring my girlfriend to prom. A girl is black out drunk at the after party. Take a picture before her wounds wake her. How many pixels is your sanity worth? Whatsâs a 4.0 to a cold jury?Â
Whatâd you learn in class today? Donât walk fast, donât speak loud, keep your hands to yourself, keep your head down, keep your eyes on your own paper. If you donât know the answer, fill in C. Always wear earbuds when you ride the bus alone, if you feel like someoneâs following you, pretend youâre on the phone.
The teacher never fails, only you do.
Every state in America, the greatest lessons are the ones you donât remember learning.â

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. Arenât you tired of yuri with cis oversexualized lesbians? Because tbh I really am. Thatâs why I decied to make a mini-masterpost of all the yuri with trans girls I know of! (Thank you to everyone who told me about some of these!)
Also letâs not speak of Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl because I donât really think thatâs not very good trans representation tbh
Cotton Candy Love:Â A oneshot about a woman named Kiyoka who used to be in a relationship with another woman named Rika. She defends a young trans girl, Chiaki, when she was being bullied.
Contains: #bullying #transmisogyny #misgenderingÂ
Ayumi and Aika: Â A twoshot about a transwoman named Aika coming out to her girlfriend Ayumi, and how she accepts her as who she is.
Contains: #transmisogyny #misgendering Just another warning, it also says things like âgender identity disorderâ, which implies being trans is a medical disorder, so that bit might be bothersome.
Double House: A series about Maho, a trans woman who has just moved in town and works at a bar, saves a woman  named Fujiko, who was from a rich family and decided to live on her own, she finds out they both live in the same apartment and, and it shows how their relationship grows.
Contains: #transmisogyny #slurs #transphobic slurs #transmisogynistic slurs #suicide implied #death mention #drugs #alcohol #sexism #kidnappingÂ
Bonus Stuff: Hourou Musuko (Anime / Manga) :Â Not really yuri but the protagonist is a trans girl! I dont had a summary or trigger warnings for this one becuase I havenât watched/read it yet, but I do know it contains #transphobia and #misgendering
Lonely Wolf, Lonely Sheep: Both girls are cis in this 4 chapter manga, but they arenât oversexualized, and the whole thing is really cute. Its about 2 girls both named Kakimoto Imari, and even though they both have the same name and same birth month and year, they both live very different lifestyles. The story goes on about how they both help each other in their troubles from the present and past. Contains: #abuse #abusive relationships #self harm
I love Mizutani Fukaâs work, and you should check out other yuri by them, such as the anthology Like a Cinderella
If you know any more, please feel free to add to the list!
