(via Val Kilmer's Digital Resurrection: AI in Filmmaking)
Actor Val Kilmer looks a bit Jesusy in the AI image I generated to go with the story I wrote in the magazine. The image has a bit of Bruce Wayne, Batman, Iceman, Simon Templar, Jim Morrison and some other characters he played. Kilmer, who passed away last year is starring in the new movie As Deep as the Grave, expected to come out this year, 2026. Filmmakers used an AI-generated image of the actor in his role in the film. It may seem creepy at first but it’s not the first time that technology has been used in a role after the actor has passed away. The whole thing is really very interesting. There are so many layers involved in the story. ““Previously titled Canyon Del Muerto and sometimes referred to as Canyon of the Dead, the film is based on a real-life story, starring BAFTA winner Abigail Lawrie and actor Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame as archaeologists Ann Axtell Morris and Earl Morris and their work tracing Indigenous history in the United States in the 1920s. The film was shot in the stunningly beautiful Canyon de Chelly. The IMDb description reads: “Two archaeologists seek out the Canyon of the Dead and the dead find them.”
