When the Walls Came Down

âI run the right ship,â she told him, taking a sip of her own butterbeer. It really did the trick: warming her up to her very core. She already felt better.
Looking back at him, into his eyes, she thought she saw a glimmer of a smile, a glimmer of hope in them. Maybe she wasnât such a bad pep-talk-giver after all!
âI wonât give up,â Ginny said with a shake of her head. âNot when weâve already come this far. And, though I wouldnât put it past the Carrows to kill, I donât agree. I think Snape is stopping them, keeping them in check somehow. They canât go around killing students â that would bring Hogwarts to an end. AndâŠâ she paused, looking out at the Room of students who were all doing their best to continue smiling, to fight. Ginny thought of her first year, the horrible year sheâd never really told anyone about.
âI donât think You-Know-Who wants to kill magical blood. Even mudbloods. Because, well â there arenât a lot of wizards left, are there? I think he wants to keep as many of us alive as he can, just so he has people to controlâŠ.â she shivered, and took another sip of her warming drink.  âBut he wonât get that chance.â
She said it with such a ferocity, such conviction, that it sent a new fire through her. Ginny looked at Michael, straight at him, not looking away. âI mean it â he wonât. Not if we keep fighting. Weâre the only thing that can break him; that can break all of those horrible, awful people.Every day, every moment we can fight back; we can do small things that lead to big victories. As long as we keep going, day by day, not giving in â we can never lose. Not really, not truly.â
And with that, she drained the rest of her butterbeer, a new spark rushing through her. Ginny smiled, getting to her feet. âDonât you feel it, Corner? The hope?â She turned to look at him, reaching a hand out to pull him up. âDefense Against the Dark Arts is soon â and we have to go.
âEvery day, every moment, remember?â
He couldnât argue with her. Â The hope she felt so strongly that he wasnât sure if it was coming from the whole room of students or just her. Â Looking in her eyes, he got this sudden rush that they couldnât lose...that he couldnât lose.
âIf you feel it, I feel it,â he told her, feeling that old flirtatiousness coming back. Â Maybe that made him a little cheesy but he didnât care. Â He stood up, taking her hand and not letting go. Â He finished the rest of his butterbeer with an eye remaining on Ginny. Â
He shook his head at her suggestion. Â âSkip class with me. Â We can learn some real defense here.â Â He took out his wand and pointed at her bag. Â âAccio Ginnyâs books.â Â He gave her a playful smile then he looked down and laughed. Â âWell, you canât go without your books...â
I'm literally so excited to run tomorrow. I cut my sleep short today to run and I still wasn't able to. :( Marathon training and house hunting at the same time is really hard. And uh I'll try to do rp stuff tomorrow.
HP minor character: Â Michael Corner
âMichael Corner went and got caught releasing a first-year theyâd  chained up, and they tortured him pretty badly. That scared people off.â

No! Â I mean, what you said before.Â

âIâm a naturally affectionate person with the people I love, but I think a friendly hug can sometimes be misconstrued. I donât think all guys are comfortable showing affection in the U.K. Iâm an Italian, and so have been brought up to give people two kisses when greeting themâ
@ofbravery
These two from Lukeâs ep of Casualty remind me Michael and Ginny in books 4/5 when theyâre still young and ( mostly ) carefree LOLLL.
When the Walls Came Down
ofbravery:
âDonât talk about being âof ageâ. Age doesnât matter anymore â itâs the last thing on my mind.â She didnât need to be told anymore about her age. âI have six older brothers, I know Iâm not of age. And I know that itâs not going to stop me from fighting in any way I can.â
When his hand moved in hers, Ginny couldnât help but feel the electricity between them. Could he feel it too? Her mind raced back to previous years, when they had dated. That was before the D.A, before everything really started to fall apart. She thought sheâd known him then, but what about now? Had she ever really known him at all? She wanted to.
âWe havenât lost,â Ginny replied, shaking her head, but a small smile appearing on her lips as she went on. âWeâre still here, weâre still hoping. As long as thereâs hope, as long as one person wants to keep going, I would say we havenât lost.â She meant it, truly â that one person could change the world, could make it better. Didnât matter who it was.Â
âHeâs not ââ she started, a blush rising to her cheeks and her heart thudding to a halt in her chest. She dropped Michaelâs hand out of instinct. âHe left. We broke up.â It was all she could say, since it was the truth. Harry hadnât wanted to put her in danger, and she couldnât ask him to. Theyâd broken up. If Ginny was honest, she didnât care about dating Harry Potter; she just wanted him to come back ( with her brother and Hermione ) alive.Â
âThatâs not what heâs doing â heâs not keeping his head down. I know that much, and I know you believe it too. Harry  wouldnât desert us, thatâs not who he is. You know that. Heâs searching for a way to really finish You-Know-Who off. I think heâs almost there. The school yearâs only just started, really. He could be back ( he probably will be back! ) before you know it, with a solution.â
She straightened up, looking out at the rest of the Room of Requirement, of the other students who hadnât given up. She desperately wanted a pick me up for  Michael (and for herself). Suddenly, two warm mugs of butterbeer appeared in front of them: the Room knew what she needed and it had provided for her. Ginny couldnât help but smile as she picked the mugs up, placing one â more like forcing one â into Michaelâs hands.
âDrink this. Thatâs an order, Corner.â
âRight, uh, sorry.â Â He should have known better than to bring up her age. Â She was braver than he was. Â She had gone through more at an even younger age. Â âMaybe age doesnât matter, certainly not with you. Â I just feel like weâre so unprepared for this war.â
His eyes lifted to hers. Â He was worried about her. Â Nothing would stop her and he always liked that about her. Â He had always been the kind of guy who easily jumped from woman to woman. Â Even when Ginny broke up with him, it wasnât long before he was going with Cho. Â Yet as he sat with her, he knew those feelings he had when he was 14 hadnât gone. Â She was the one who got away. Â Her spirit was unstoppable and fierce. Â He recognized that even more as they got older.
Hope.  Michael wasnât sure it even existed anymore.  The loss seemed inevitable.  Could they win when their enemy was immortal?  In spite of himself, he spoke, âAye, you will be our hope then.â  His lips curled up the smallest amount that it was almost easy to miss.
Her confession had a lingering feel as she removed her hand from his. Â He kind of always thought Harry and Ginny would make it. Â Maybe Ginny had thought that too. Â âIâm sorry. Â I just figured you guys would make it work.â Â The conversation moved rather quickly to what Harry was possibly doing now and that was probably for the best. Â Breakups are never something to dwell on.
âI hope heâs back sooner rather than later. Â We canât take much more of this. Â The Carrows will continue to break us of our will to fight. Â No one is keeping them from killing one of us to make a point. Â They are just crazy enough to do it. Â It certainly felt like they were going to kill me.â Â He shook his head as if he could get the haunting memories out that way.
He took the drink, though he had no choice to refuse it. Â âYes maâam,â he replied with a smirk. Â âYouâre not going to let me give up, are you? Â You run a tight ship, Miss Weasley.â
