arcane is making me think about how actually a lot of onscreen novel adaptations would probably be better if they were adapted into animation, as opposed to live action. like, imagine if his dark materials had got an animated series instead. imagine how much you could do with the visuals and the dæmons and the cutting between worlds - think of the weirdness of the amber spyglass, the tiny gallivespians and the mulefa, and tell me that would not fit better in an animated medium as opposed to a live action one. animation is far more versatile when it comes to adapting whacky shit but the west thinks animation is for babies so they don't even consider it
