I dunno what update YouTube brought out recently but it's borked how subtitles work. used to be that you could turn subtitles on, and they'd only be there if the language selected was available (example: if I choose pure English subtitles, only videos that have those subtitles would show them, and the auto generated subtitles wouldn't play if the video didn't)
yeah now they're just permanently on if I have them on, if a video doesn't have anything but the auto generated bs it'll pick the auto generated bs (which I hate so much it's so hard to follow and can barely get it right, funny Australian man can't be understood by the subtitles-)
like I just woke up so this probably makes 0 sense but this is so dummy dumb

so uh yeah anyways been applying to places cuz i need to leave my shit ass fast food job before it drives me over the deep end (but it's getting damn close!), but these places must be lying about hiring with how they never get back to you about your application!
like you just toss it out into the ether hoping to get anything back, but unless you actually interviewed it's uhhhhhh nope! nothing! no no no, see, you need to contact us about your application! but surely if you do so too much you might as well kiss that job good bye
all this spurred cuz i got so fucking close with one of these, landed an interview at burlington (granted burlington has an ai chat bot, and in my experience (FUCK AI MIND YOU) that's the fastest way to even get to schedule an interview). i got told in the next 48hr i'll hear back from said chat bot about "the next steps" (ooo, that sounds promising!)
i got fucking rejected
"thanks for the interview but your skills aren't good enough for this position" it's just stocking!!! it's just taking inventory, putting on a price tag, and putting it on the shelves and racks!!! i'm stocking a stupid lobby all day what more do you want from me!!! i love stocking so much, you'll never find another bunny that gets childlike joy from putting things away, !!!!!!!!!!
and what's worse is they ALSO have applications open for register, which is what i have "proper" experience in (i work front counter), but i doubt i can apply cuz... well how would that interview even go? especially if it's the same guy that interviews me, he's already got my info jotted down. what, will he rehash the same questions so he can get the same answers? he knows my skills and availability, he'd probably just see that i'm there for another interview and go "yeah go home you'll hear back in 48hrs"
and then i probably get rejected again
because i'm not like my mom who's got a manager's wet dream for a resume, and can land pretty much any job she wants whenever she wants. meanwhile i'm working at my first job with only 6/7 months of experience
(no hate to my mom, just in case it seems like that, i think it's awesome she can get a job so easily, she just works at the exact same burlington and got hired on the spot of her interview whereas i,,,,,,, yeah-)
like what more could i possibly do here? ritual sacrifice?
also it feels so annoying how all of these retail jobs use basically the same application portal, myworkdaysite. cuz they're all different domains but under the same host (or something, i dunno, i'm not computer smart), which is annoying cuz if they weren't i could just see all of my applications in one spot instead of going to five million different sub sites
i dunno all this to say being an adult is the worst thing ever, everyone who says it gets better is a liar spreading false positivity, and i wish i could fade away into stardust
