See, how Ink is able to drink every color of the rainbow, Blueprint is stuck drinking only 1 color, specifically his Prussian Blue, to continue living (i call it his life juice).
also unlike ink though, blueprint HATES (as much as he can without feeling) the taste of ink, its like that nasty syrup cough medicine to him and he drinks it because if he doesn’t he’ll “burn out” and lifelessly collapse onto the ground.

You’re right, Canon!Print was born without a soul. However, due to Swap!Undyne’s ingenuity, they created him an artificial soul using his prussian ink and determination, granting him the save-point looking star soul he has in canon!
However, I dislike that he could have just been “given” a soul that operates the same way any other soul (and begs the question of why Flowey/Temmie or Ink himself did not get the same treatment). I think it’s a missed opportunity to write away the potential struggles he could have as someone who is completely soulless like Ink in a different way that doesn’t make him a copy of Ink. I would’ve preferred it best if there were any hint of his soul not functioning on par with other monster souls (besides his inability to use a significant amount of magic, i mean something that you can tell by the way he acts).
Not to say my Blueprint isnt very different from canon, mine is a child of FruitPunch (polyamorous star sanses), and is twin brothers with Palette (which is important for reasons i cant explain yet 😉) , I’m definitely not rewriting him in the same scenario, living situation, and SOUL prosthesis that characterizes who Canon!Print is. Honestly, with all my rewrites, I never really classify them as the same character anymore, but I’m really attached to him still being a Blueprint because of his power-set, and the reason I changed anything at all was because of his SOUL situation.
Can I ask why you didn’t include Print’s social anxiety in your remake? He’s genuinely good representation and it kinda hurts to see people erase it/nm/gen
As someone with social anxiety (dear god), I do feel that it’s important to have representation like that too. I guess when I saw Blueprint, I saw missed potential for what soullessness could represent for myself, rather than social anxiety? To me, it was a really missed opportunity giving Blueprint a fake soul, because it removes a lot of potential for the struggles Blueprint could have that Ink doesn’t have (that I struggle with too!). I felt like Blueprint was in a unique position to have a different set of struggles because of a condition that was looked over canonically, and I wanted to write those potential struggles head on!
I wouldn’t say I’ve removed his social anxiety, but without a soul, he is highly unable to experience what he could in canon, and I’ve dubbed the version of him that was born with a soul, “Soul!Print”!
Social anxiety representation is important, but I felt like my take on Blueprint represents a lot of things I havent seen in this fandom or anywhere for that matter! And while he isn’t anxious about his social life, he does struggle socially because of his overall demeanor.

but what I can say is Blueprint is NOT another evil soulless character like Underverse’s representation of Ink, but a true and pure neutral version of a child learning the intricacies of a world he is unable to experience.

i’ve gone on a lore deep dive for so many aus that so much content i see being drawn leaves me like scrunching my nose because theres so many claims of canon and fanon and as a blueberry fanatic i think it hurts the most because the canon/fanon debate is so strong everyone’s a wimp to actually explore his character in the multiverse

i read the entirety of the ask dusttale blog and i’m all caught up on whats posted in horrortale publicly and those characters are ssoo poorly written in a multiverse context too (dust would canonically never join nightmare unless he was forced, horror is more of a good guy in his timeline?? and he’s also never eaten a human EVER????) but whats MILDLY forgiveable about that is that there isnt a legion of hypocrites screaming ITS MURDER NOT DUST and call you cringe for calling him otherwise
