There’s a quote Ive seen that seems to apply to a lot of people around here.
'If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.'
I might be the living equivalent to that quote.
Sounds boring. I’ll take the Cliff Notes version.
It's absolutely boring. The entire book is going to be me throwing pebbles at passersby.
You might want to consider shortening the title.
Right, okay. What about Dry Humor and a Bag of Pebbles?
Certainly interesting. What if a mix of the two happen, some are deleted while others are sent back. Do you think that they would be stuck comatose or die like those now?
That depends on the helmets, I guess. Sometimes I like to think I know everything, but this entire situation has got me under it's palm, and I'm just trying to wriggle out of it with sarcasm and general knowledge.
I think you actually can. You might wanna find a warmer place to hang out, bud. Getting sick probably takes away from the gameplay, but if you can get wounded…
...--How do you get your hair to do the swoop thing?
I'm gonna write a book. It's gonna be called The Story of a Boy With Mild Anxiety Issues Who Couldn't Find a Medieval iPod While Being Stuck in an RPG, coming to your local retailers as soon as I reach level 100.
What happens to us if the game gets shut down? I mean, as in servers disconnected and everyone gets disconnected. Do we get sent back to the other world or are we stuck on a hard drive?
Well, that depends on how the server goes down. If it crashes, generally nothing can get in or out. But it might be interesting to see how the game reacts to a server crash. If it gets shut down manually then generally servers tend to dispose of temporary files like us. Whether that means we get deleted or sent back is totally up to how fast the server wants to shut down. Because that is a lot of files to send back at once.
Wow.. You seem really sensitive, Hm?
Rusty? That’s cute— Suits you well. I’m Courage
Sensitive? ...I guess, in ways.
Thanks. I like my name. Courage is a pretty good one, though. It's a keeper.
The pistol crossbow looks like it’d be a really solid weapon, especially when you come across the higher leveled quests! Super ranged weapons sound like they’d be very useful. I’m terrible at aiming things in the real world, so I think I’ll stick to the polearms. They’re fun!
Anything that looks like muscle on me is actually just solidified teen angst. I wouldn't be able to use polearms to save my life. I'm a lot better at applying wind resistance and height decay from arrow weight.
If you haven't noticed yet, I'm a little teensy-weensy bit of a huge dork.
dinner bells.
Nemesis wasn’t sure exactly why she was here, sitting across from this player. She and this boy had recently had verbal lashings back and forth, but now they’re sitting in a restaurant, across from one another, about to eat food. This was absolutely wonderful. The awkward silence was great too, It really helped with the nonexistent mood. The only good part about this so far was the smell of the place, it was making Nemesis feel hungrier than she actually was. Or maybe, she was as hungry as her stomach felt since she hadn’t eaten well in days.
With a sigh, Nemesis looked down to the menu held loosely within her grip, a faint frown marring her face. While most of the food looked great, she doubted that either of them had enough CRZs to pay for just one of those meals. This restaurant seemed way to expensive to be in a lower leveled town, much less a video game. The sudden break in the silence caused Nemesis to focus her gaze on the boy in front of her. “Are you just saying that since it’s one of the cheapest things on here, or do you actually believe that?” She inquired, truly curious.
Oh, that was a factor too, in the whole mood feeling off. He was about 90% sure this chick already hated him. So soon? He didn't even have to get through the night first. Earlier they had a little bit of a dispute (Rusty is very set in his opinions), so they weren't exactly on the best of terms. It was going pretty well, though! So far they'd said about three words to each other and they weren't really words of hate, either. Better than Rusty himself had imagined.
"Oh, most definitely just saying that because it's cheap. This place isn't near the best type of water for seafood, so they probably have better steaks and stuff -- which is probably why those are a lot more expensive." Frowning, he set down the menu. That was a usual sign you were finished thinking about your order, right? His weight shifted from left to right on his seat anxiously, the awkward air biting at his nerves. Maybe this wasn't the best idea...?
That’d be cool of you. Whoever said people in this game aren’t nice has not met the right people. I’ll owe you one.
All you’ve got to do is walk in, put the CRZ on the counter and say: “I need a room for the night” and that’s that. Walk in like you own the place and the NPC behind the desk will accept it.
Definitely. I'll talk to the dude later. One day I might need someone to be nice to me; so I find it best to act like I need something from everybody.
Ouch. CRZ. That's where the problem comes in. It seems like obtaining currency and being low class don't exactly go hand in hand. Who would've thought climbing the ladder of social status is nearly impossible in a video game too? Maybe I'm not coming at it from the right angles.
dinner bells.
At nineteen years old, you'd figure one would have developed the ability to interact without feeling... off. But right now, Rusty was feeling nothing but. This was a college student who had never had dinner with anyone besides his parents and close friends. But now to have it with someone he's met recently, in a video game? He had close to no idea what this person liked. What do they even talk about? How absolutely enthralling the interior decor of the place is? How unimaginably holy the scents that wafted from the kitchen doors smelled? In fact, his last actual meal was before he'd gotten into this game. The thought made him shudder a little bit, but it was true.
Now that he'd saved up enough CRX for this meal, it seemed pretty nice to be able to share the experience with someone else who had also been trapped here since their last meal. It was something to relate to, so he supposed they actually could talk about it. A frown graced his features and he buried his face into the menu, eyes quickly scanning over all the foods listed. Most of it he couldn't afford. Most of the good things, at least. The burgers, the steak. He could probably get away with a soup though. Clam chowder. Reasonably priced, should be pretty good. Rusty himself was indeed a fan of seafood. Oh -- fuck. Better break the silence, huh?
"--Uh, what're you thinking of getting? The clam chowder sounds pretty good."
Unfortunately, I can’t get to Ashmarsh yet. Level barriers suck. I need about 12 more levels before I can even set foot in that place.
For tonight though, I’m sitting pretty in a nice room at a decent Aelbourne Inn. It’s pretty cozy.
Neither can I. But the dude had some extras for when him and his kids go fishing? Something like that. I was kind of in a rush. So he said he'd give me one if I could find his kid's lost teddy bear. I could hook you up if you want? That NPC and I are bros now.
Aelbourne Inn? I tried to go in once -- but I think they thought I was a beggar? I was kind of roughed up at the time. They kicked me out pretty fast.
I actually managed to collect enough CRZ to rent a room at one of the inns for the night. Good, because I miss sleeping in an actual bed. The ground’s nice and all, but rocks for pillows suck.
One of the NPCs told me if you grab one of those giant leaves from around Ashmarsh, and rub the dirt that runs along the perimeter of the river on the bottom of the leaf, you can use that as a boat. It's what I've been sleeping on. Pretty cozy.
Oh, I’m getting it. ‘Don’t go around calling people idiots.’ I just don’t care.
That's about half of what I'm trying to say. Don't go around calling people idiots, and don't be one. The only safe idiot is a quiet one.
I wonder what weapon upgrades everyone’s interested in. I hope I can get that glaive in the future. That’d be really cool to use.
Dude, I would go so hard if I had a pistol crossbow. So hard. That's a long way's away, though. I'll have to be patient, I guess.
