reader that isn’t a bimbo? Reader that is put together and likes dressing up? Reader that’s older than 18-20? Reader that’s not white-coded??? Reader who doesn’t have daddy issues? Reader who does have daddy issues in a “man hater” way? Reader who’s taller than 4’11-5’0?? Reader who’s quiet and reserved and not in a robotic way or stuttering way? Reader who’s Tina Belcher coded? Reader who gives off the vibe of a creepy barn owl but somehow it’s endearing? Reader who’s charismatic and charming? Reader who’s-
And if I said Megamind is one of the few movies that understands Superman.
And if I said Megamind through its three subversions of Superman shows a deeper understanding that the point of Superman is that he was loved and taught to love by good, present parents, and because of that he is able to return that love to a world even if it doesn't always accept it, and he is not corrupted by his power, than many other films either subverting or playing the superman story straight.
Megamind has three Superman subversions. One is obviously Megamind himself. He was not raised loved by the world, but rather was loved by those hated by the world. Because he was still raised with love, he does care about other people, hence his character development. But because he didn't receive wider love growing up, his own is misplaced at first.
Metro Man was not loved growing up in a way that mattered. His adopted father was clearly very absent, and while we don't know much about his family, their relationship seems superficial. Because of this, his sense of duty to the world is also superficial, hence his boredom.
Hal wasn't raised with power. He gained it and was shown how to use it by a 'space dad' who only taught him power and not love. Hence, he sees it only as a grasping means to an end.
All three of these subversions, in their negative space, create the silhouette of the superhero that they are parodying. That silhouette is of a space child that came to earth and was cared for very deeply by the world, and taught love through his experience of love, and because of that holds fast to his duty to the world. Which is Superman.
I want this person and this person only writing and directing Superman movies for the rest of my life

if the dad’s best friend trope where he knew reader since they were born and immediately have feelings and attraction the minute reader turns 18 has no haters that means i'm dead
What I love most about the Yautja is that beneath the monster façade lies a culture deeply rooted in honor and respect that make them more of a people than monster.
Sure, they’re one of the most recognizable horror movie legend, but they don’t just slaughter everything in sight like every horror movie monster would. They hunt and only hunt the strongest prey, those who fight back, or even hunt them in return.
If a Yautja sets their sights on you, it’s not just to kill. It means they recognize your strength, you’ve earned their respect, and they want your skull for that because a worthy prey worth more than anything for them. They’re warriors, not mindless killers. They seek worthy prey, not easy targets.
That’s the heart of the Predator movies. It’s not about some alien collecting skulls like trophies. It’s about a predator hunting another predator, and that predator is us. Humans are one of their top picks, and for numbers of good reason.
Now imagine if all those comic book crossovers weren’t just fantasy. Imagine if superheroes, supervillains, 80s action heroes, demons, monsters, you name it, all existed in the Predator universe.
Oh man, the Yautja would be booking trips to Earth like it’s a galactic theme park. Weekend getaways for the whole hunting clan, "Come to Earth, get your spine ripped out with honor from the most best quality prey in the whole galaxy"
It’d be less of a planet and more of a blood-soaked warrior Disneyland where they bring their family for glorious hunt like it was a family picnic.
"Dad, I want to get that super policeman, please"
"No honey, your sister already tags that, but if you finish your blood tofu now and be a good boy, I find you another one"
WE GOT YAUTJA CULTURE AND LANGUAGE WE GOT CULTURE AND LANGUAGE WE GOT CULTURE AND LANGUAGE WE GOT LANGUAGE WE GOT CULTURE WEJEJAYAHAHAHHAGH

one of my favorite things about dc comic books is how so many of them are just official fanfiction.
like you want a royal au? earth 118

so many au’s were just created by dc
Ao3 is actually massively culturally important and very very good at being what it is. I’m so serious when I say that ao3 needs to be protected as the anti censorship, by fans for fans, nonprofit, volunteer run, expertly designed archival site that it is. You don’t have to read or like fanfiction to understand that on principle, ao3 is a site that should be defended.

It’s irritating to me that the common modern interpretation of Spider-Man is that he is a cutesy soft boy who’s main comedy trait comes from being “adorkable”
I see this a lot, especially in fandom, which is super upsetting because to me Spider-Man’s humor always came from the fact that he was super witty and honestly kind of mean
It makes me sad to be surrounded by fan works that feel like they don’t understand the character in the same way I do, which is perfectly fine! Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation and there have been many versions of this character throughout the years, I just wish I could get more of that classic clever nuisance Spider-Man I’m so into
The curse of wanting to read specific fanfiction, but the only kind that itches your brain just right is what you've written, but you also want to read something new.
why do i feel like there has been a surge of mean anons lately or has it always been like this and im just now noticing 😭
Anonymous asks are for being embarrassingly into something and being embarrassingly into something ONLY
I love that computer man I want to suck his flat face
i don't understand the thing of doing modern aus for originally fantasy stories, like, why would i prefer to read about this guy being a high schooler or a frat boy when his original story includes dragons, magic, superpowers, aliens, etc?
