Basically the stupider it is, the more likely he'll catch on.

Explanation: his whole deal is that he's easy to write off because he seems like a bumbling fool, and Light is far too egotistical to not fall for it until its too late. Plus his name isn't well known which would come in handy.

I also dont want to reserve intuiting the mechanics for just characters that have dealt with the supernatural, and I think he'd take it in stride.

Plus I bet his wife dabbles in Japanese which would come in handy.

Explanation: I saw a YouTube video I need to find but they made a compelling argument that Mystery Inc is perfect to catch L.

Velma would narrow it down quickly, Fred could probably out trap him, Daphne would sniff him out by talking to the police and meeting him, Shaggy is a nickname making it harder to use the Death Note on him, and Scooby is immune completely.

Just saw a video analysis about if the Scooby gang could beat Light Yagami. I wasn’t worried about the gang but I didn’t realize how cooked Light was. Velma alone is way smarter than L, Freddy would instantly see through the trapped drawer that hid the Death Note and Scooby is such a wildcard overall, who is immune to the Death Note because he isn’t human. So even if he gets the rest of the gang, Scooby is coming with a vengeance.

Funniest scenario is Shaggy and Scooby trailing Light only to be confronted by him. Light tries to kill Shaggy but can’t because he would never just give away his name as “Norville Rogers.” Light thinks Shaggy is some genius playing fourth-dimensional chess with him.

Scooby Doo and Shaggy

If we're literally just talking Shaggy and Scooby, no. Maybe 13 Ghosts Shaggy and Scoob have a chance, I'd have to rewatch it.

If we're talking Mystery Inc as a whole, maybe. I love Scooby and I think I want to rewatch Mystery Incorporated, which is them at their best as detectives AND includes supernatural stuff, before I give them a ranking
