Headcanon that tucked away somewhere on the palace grounds is a tree that strongly resembles a certain tree in the South. The scars are the height of a grown man rather than a child but they are unmistakable. More than one broken sword sits nearby.

What else happens when you put a hunting eagle (not -that- one he'd snarl) in a birdcage? A gilded golden cage, but a cage nonetheless. He thought it was everything he ever wanted - and you would never catch him saying anything different - but it just never fit quite right.
