🗺️ - travel someplace together
She'd spent a lot of the car ride with her eyes closed, head tilted towards the sunshine coming through the slightly-lowered window. Breeze whipped through the small opening as they drove along in their rental car. Dominique had been the one to curate a plan for them this time, they'd spent some time in the Cotswolds and then continued their roadtrip up north. Now they were driving up to the Lake District to enjoy the views and a cottage she'd booked for them there. The radio played on low, buzzing every now and then when it lost signal. Dominique's eyes opened up slowly as she focused herself on Raphael, watching him as he kept his gaze on the beautiful open road ahead of them. "How many miles have we got left?" she asked after a moment, initially not wanting to disrupt the peace of their car ride. "Do you want to swap or are you okay to keep driving?"

🌷 - go to botanical gardens/flower-picking
"And that was the first time someone other than a family member got me flowers. It was so sweet but I could've done without getting stung," Dominique recounted the story with a laugh, the two of them having exchanged personal anecdotes as they walked through the fields. She already had some blooms in hand, curating a bouquet that would look lovely in their living room. "I know it's so basic but I really love baby's breath. They frame the other flowers so beautifully but they can also be so elegant on their own," she mused, having lifted up her collection to assess what she thought was missing.

Alec let out a bark of a laugh. "Sure, but dance is so different than bike riding. I feel like I'm using muscles that I didn't even know existed," he replied.
"If you think it's bad now, just imagine how much those muscles will hurt tomorrow," Dom mentioned, snorting lightly at the thought. "I've never taken an ice bath but for some reason that sounds like it might be nice when everything is aching."
🚲 go for a bike ride - alec & dominique ( @dcminiquesweasley )
Alec took a moment break when they got to the top of the hill, stopping besides to Dominique. "I forgot how tiring bike riding is," he said to her. "Do you do this often? If you do... how?" he asked with a small laugh.
"It can be a workout, sure. Especially going up a hill like that," Dominique acknowledged with a laugh, reaching for her water to refuel. "I try to. I tend to favor the flat bike paths in town to these very hilly parts, but sometimes I want to enjoy the more peaceful energy and check out the view," she mentioned. "You're a dancer! There's no doubt you're physically fitter than me. I'm sure I've came by the studio and seen you do much more intense things," she laughed again.
🌮 - stop by a food truck ( @dcminiquesweasley )
"Okay, trust me, this will be the best food you have ever tasted," Victoire said to her sister as they neared the front of the queue, "You will be mind blown by just how awesome this is."
"I don't know if food's ever blown my mind before... so I'll admit the promise you're making sounds enticing," Dominique considered with a soft laugh. "You're going to have to help me choose, especially since you've clearly got favorites."
Raphael chuckled softly, his fingers brushing her cheek gently as he took in the sweet vulnerability in her words. It hadn't been long ago that gaining soft responses had been practically impossible. He had earned that aloof distance when had unintentionally hardened her heart, and deserved every harsh word Dominique had ever thrown his way.
“A figment of your imagination, hm? Very poetic,” he teased, a smirk pulling at the corner of his lips a moment later. “I suppose I am a bit of a dreamboat.” He sighed dramatically, words hanging in the air, infused with an arrogant playfulness that he wore like a second skin. “But who could blame me? It's hard not to be with all this charm and good looks.” He was fully expecting to have some reparation for that comment and he welcomed it.
Though the light banter remained, something shifted gently in his expression and his gaze softened. “Maybe you’re right though. I think you did create this version of me. You challenged me, and made me to see myself through your eyes. My character development... it’s certainly is at least heavily impacted by you. Without your critique I may not have had much of a redeeming arc.” He smiled wryly, almost in quiet acknowledgment of the way she’d shaped him. "You’ve rewritten my story, and I have no intention of letting it end in any kind of sadness. Not for you.”
"I am very poetic. I thought you liked that about me," she laughed softly in reply. Dominique didn't even bother trying to keep herself from rolling her eyes at him, the expression quickly spilling into laughter once more, "You undeniably are. Frustratingly so. It's even worse that you are so arrogant with it," Dom teased him with a fondness to her tone. "I think it was a terrible injustice you were blessed with such a face and bod, but such an atrocious ego," she all but tutted at him, ruffling his hair as she did so. He still looked irresistibly beautiful with his hair like that. Maybe even more so. Damn him, she thought to herself, having absentmindedly bitten down on her bottom lip at the sight of him.
Hearing him shift the topic to a more serious tone admittedly took her by surprise. She hadn't expected him to elaborate on it with an analytical eye. "That's... really emotionally mature of you, mon ange," she remarked. The surprised prominent in her tone but also an admiration and pride. To be able to look back at yourself like that wasn't easy for most. "And I'm glad I could make a lasting impact on you like that. And for what seems to be the better," Dominique smiled. "I hope you don't feel like I changed you too much. I think at your core you're still the same Raphael I fell so hard for that summer– just with a little more maturity and a lot more reliability."
She did mean it when she had tried to make sure it came across that she hadn't wanted to mold Raphael into a different person in any way. But she was glad that the heartache had been able to do some good in the end and change his perspective of himself in a number of ways. "I don't want it to end in sadness for you either," Dominique spoke truthfully, her fingers latching gently underneath his chin as she tilted his head to observe the way the gentle sunlight through the curtains was illuminating his features. "I want nothing but unbearable and undeniable love and joy for you in your life, Raphael. And I want so badly to be a part of that."
"Maybe I am," Raphael said softly, a small, knowing smile playing on his lips. "I recognized your writing before anyone told me it was yours. I guess that says something about how much you’ve always meant to me." His gaze lingered on her, warm and full of quiet affection. "I just want to share things with you. That's what you’re looking for too, isn’t it? Moments, memories… something real between us." He reached out, his fingers gently tracing the curve of her chin. "If you’re stuck, let me help. Give me your words so far, and I’ll write you a new chapter. If nothing else, maybe my clumsy attempts will be just irritating enough to spark your inspiration." He smiled, a little more tenderly now. "Just don't be too disappointed when I inevitably fall short. I don't have your talent for words, Ma Cherie."
The blonde opened her mouth to speak but instead all that came out was a winded gasp. She promptly pressed her lips back together, looking at him as though he had dropped right out of the sky and into her lap. Did she really deserve someone who'd say and mean all these things? Could this happiness that she felt with him really belong to her? "Sometimes I wonder if maybe I wrote you to life," Dominique all but murmured to herself but with the comfortable silence in the room the words were his to hear as well. "Like maybe you really aren't real. Just a beautiful figment of my wonderful imagination." It took her a moment to pull herself from the almost trance-liked state he'd seemed to pull her into, nodded absentmindedly, "I would love to read whatever you write. Really," she spoke honestly before a soft snort escaped her as she thought over Raphael's words again, "Even if I end up wanting to take it apart. At least it'll be worthy source material."
"I would beg to differ. I have read your books after all." Raphael pointed out and whilst he was no writer, he had read enough to know a good piece of writing when he had one in his hands. "And no, I am not a writer but you love it and I love seeing you happy. Plus it will be a good bonding experience therefore everyone wins." Raphael answered with a little chuckle. "I will not get offended, no. I will rather enjoy watching that genius mind of yours work. I don't have the attachment to writing like you do but I believe this could be fun."
"I'm convinced you are my biggest fan," Dominique laughed in response. She had never written any of her works with the intention of gaining fame for them. It was why she'd written under a pen name in the first place, wanting her books to go out there into the world and be able to hold their own without a reputable name to keep them afloat. But to know how much Raphael loved them gave her the hope that out there maybe someone else loved her writing just as much as he did. Or at least half as much. "Bonding experience, hmm?" she teased softly, however hearing him say he loved seeing her happy was enough to cause her heart to beat a little faster. She didn't want to get too obsessed with the idea that he felt like a regular ol' prince charming, somehow trying to keep a small part of her locked away at the tiniest possibility he might fall into old habits and leave her high and dry again. "It could be fun. I like being challenged, to a degree, and it could help with whenever writing starts to get stale or the dreaded writer's block sets in," Dominique continued to toy with the idea. "I'm intrigued to read what you'd come up with to be quite honest with you."
A soft humming sound left Raphael when Dominique's fingers found their way through his hair and he let his eyes follow her features, smiling at the way the blonde explained her concerns about the story. "I see. Hopefully that will rectify that the further you get but if anyone would know that something doesn't quite slot in place the way it ought to then it would be you." And he had no doubt that even if it was fixed further down the line, that there had to be something a little off about the writing for Dominique to notice it in the first place. "I'm not much of a writer, but perhaps we should write something together. If only to see you change my work and get endlessly frustrated at me." He added with a chuckle.
"I'm a great writer but I'm not as almighty as you seem to be painting me out to be," Dominique responded with a soft laugh. Although it was certainly a nice stroke to her ego to know he valued her opinions on these sorts of things so much. It meant a lot to her. It always had. And looking down to meet his gaze and see him looking at her like that... it was worth all they'd gone through to lead up to this moment. "I didn't realize that writing together was something you were interested in," her eyes gleaming at the new revelation. "You'd want me to pick your work apart? You wouldn't get offended?"
"I should go for a rescue, shouldn't I?" Alec said. "I definitely have the time for a dog, maybe one that would go on some runs with me, definitely a medium sized dog would be good, just because apartment wise. What kind of high energetic dog breeds are there?"
"I mean if you're going for a rescue they're typically mixed breed," Dominique reminded when he started speaking about which ones would be high energy. "All the herding dogs are up there like collies, cattle dogs and shepherds," she listed off. "Greyhounds and terriers actually– but if you're going for a rescue I think your best bet is asking the people at the shelter. They'll know all the dogs' personalities and be able to advise you which would be the best fit for you I'm sure."
"Once my brain notices something, I can't unsee it." Or unhear it in this case he supposed. Raphael set his book down to one side and twisted to turn to face Dominique, still half draped across her lap. One hand was idly stroking the top of her thigh in a gentle, rhythmic pattern. "And just what is this character like and what should be changed about it?" He was genuinely curious about how she saw what it was she was reading. "I'm interested to hear your professional opinion."
"And you need to point it out too," she laughed softly as he adjusted himself to further address the situation. Dominique let out a gentle sigh, letting her book rest on her stomach as she let herself look at him. One of her hands absentmindedly reached out to tangle in his hair as she thought about what she'd been pondering now that Raphael had asked her about it. "i think the author's forgotten the character's motives– it just feels out of character for him to forget about why he started the journey in the first place. I don't see why he'd stray off for this... side quest I suppose," she was now picking the book up again and waving it around a bit, pointing to the page with a rather calm and collected frustration. "I really hope he recognizes this in the next few chapters otherwise this is going to be a very unsatisfying ending."
"I don't blame you. I've never been the type to back down either." Everleigh agreed with a smile as she moved a little closer. "Well... maybe this can be more of a practice experience for you then? Not a competition. I can teach you how to take down others." She said with a little laugh. "Assuming there is someone you would like to take down."
"I don't see the reason to turn down the opportunity," she shrugged with a little smile when the woman offered to help her how to be a better competitor. "It'll be a fun party trick and I feel like it might be unexpected if someone underestimates me and I'm able to actually dominate in this."
"Just don't tell Jo I've been in here... Can you imagine trying to explain that considering he runs a bookshop." Jaiyash stated, almost hushing himself as he rested his index finger over his lips. "But I figured I had to come see you and you know me... I can't resist the smell of freshly opened books."
@dcminiquesweasley
"I see," she quirked a brow at Jaiyash's entrance. "So you're planning to blame this all on me if he gets upset about you being in a bookstore that's not his own? I hardly see how that's fair when you're a grown man and can make your own choices," Dom snorted lightly in reply. "So are you here to see me or the books? Because now it's unclear," she added playfully.
"I'm fairly certain you've been on that same page for the past five to ten minutes." Raphael finally spoke up in the quiet of the room that was only broken by the sound of soft instrumental music being played in the background. He was comfortably stretched out on Dominique's couch, a socked foot half hanging off the side whilst his head was perched against her lap. They'd been enjoying one anothers company like this for a good while now, neither one speak but that wasn't necessarily needed. His eyes strayed from his own book to look up over the top of his glasses, head tilting back slightly. "Something on your mind?"
@dcminiquesweasley
"So you're keeping tabs?" her instinct always to deflect, blinking up from her page when he'd cut through the silence to call her out. Dominique had been enveloped by the comfort of their quiet intimacy, she was enjoying spending the day in lazily plopped onto her couch and just enjoying each other's presence as they did their own things. "I guess I got lost in thought," she considered with a light hum. "I began to rewrite what I think this character should be doing and I let myself forget I was actually reading," Dom then admitted, looking back at the page to find the words she'd left off on.
"I'm working on it," Victoire replied, nodding. As one of the elder cousins, she always felt some pressure to set the example and she supposed by listening to what her parents wanted for her, her mother in particular, she hadn't been setting that example. She admired her younger sister for not succumbing to those pressures and finding her own freedom, "You're right. There has to be someone who I can click with."
"I know you are," Dom replied with a light bow of her head, "And I also know that you'll get there in time. I don't doubt it for a second." She'd always admired the way Victoire could still keep her head up high after all the pressure that was thrust upon her. She could never do that, it's why she'd slunk back into the shadows the moment she'd had the chance. She sometimes wondered if some more of the family pressure had fallen onto her shoulders because of that. "Of course there is. I hate that 'plenty fish of the sea' saying but... statistically it's true. There's just so many people out there. Any of them would be lucky to have you."
"You do not need to tell me that." It wasn't something that Clementine needed to be told, because Dominique deserved that much from her anyway and she always showed her in other ways. "Neither do I. It is perhaps the thing I am most grateful for when I think about my move from France. It allowed me to be closer to you." They had always really gotten along but the depth of their bond had really shown since she'd come here.
"I'm grateful too," Dominique smiled. There had actually been a world where she'd been considering a move to France. Not only to be closer to Clementine but also to escape her family and put a little distance there. The way things had played out in the end had somehow worked out perfectly though. "Now that things are the way they hard, it's hard to imagine you never moving in with me. I love having you as a housemate."
