ok gamers i've finally locked in and no longer hate everything i do with a burning passion, now my lines don't look restrained as hell
before anyone says anything I actually don't ship them, nor headcanon them as father and son, hell idk if I'd even consider them friends, so don't expect anything like that from me
kinger in this is checking up on him moreso out of concern for himself and others rather than caine, doesn't mean he's completely inconsiderate of his well-being though, at least not intentionally
so obviously i'm gonna abuse that at caine's expense-

Silently, Wally crept into your room, standing over you. Gray hair fell over his shoulders as he leaned down, lying next to you.
His legs hung over the edge, even as he tried to curl up. Mumbling softly, you rolled over and looked up at him. "Wally?"
"Mhm."
"You're in my bed." Sitting up, you scanned him for injuries, finding him just as gray as usual. "Did something happen?"
"No," he plucked a poinsettia from his hair and started to dissect it. As he breathed, frost grew on the flower before flaking off onto your bed. "Your bed is small."
"You're seven feet tall; my bed is not the problem."
"Hmph," crossing his arms, Wally glared at you. "I'm sick."
"I know."
"..."
"Okay, let's get you back to your bed." You stood up and offered him your hand; cold fingers wrapped around your wrist.
The hall was dark as you pulled him back to his room, remaking the large bed. "Why are you up anyway?"
"It's cold in here," he grumbled, sliding under the blankets without letting go of your wrist. As you turned to leave, he pulled you onto the bed.
"Wally?" You fixed the blanket before laying an arm over his chest. "Did something happen?"
Wally rolled over and hugged you to his chest, ignoring your protests. His whole body was cold, only mitigated by the layers of blankets.
You frowned and hugged him. "You don't have to talk if you don't want to."
The night stretched on; you fell asleep eventually, but Wally just watched you sleep.
At around midnight, you woke up again and looked up at him. Dark bags covered his eyes, and his gray skin was paler than normal.
Gently, you cupped his face in your hands. "Baby...have you been awake all night?"
"No," he looked away, blushing. "I slept for half an hour at the beginning."
"Same difference," you laughed, pushing his head down into the crook of your neck and hugging him tight. "Go to sleep."
"Let me go."
"Not until you go to sleep."
"...there's something wrong with you," he grumbled as he shut his eyes, relaxing into your arms. You stayed awake until his breathing evened out and you were sure he was asleep.
Soft snoring filled the room as he slept, frost forming on your shoulder. You smiled softly and shut your eyes, pulling the blanket tighter.
~
"You're still here?" Wally looked up at you, shaking gray hair out of his face.
Groaning, you opened your eyes and looked down at him. "Yeah? Where else would I be?"
"At work" he sat up and tried to fix the poinsettias in his hair, more petals falling out than not. "Did you get fired? I told you not to take time off."
"I didn't get fired; I'm still on time off."
He sighed but nodded, mumbling something under his breath.
You kissed his cheek before getting up, stretching, and opening the blinds. "Any requests for breakfast?"
"No"
"Okay."
You came back in holding a plate of toast and a jar of orange marmalade.
The forks clinked as he cut up the food, making sure not to get marmalade on his hands.
Holding your own piece of toast, you sat down next to him. "Is three pieces enough? I'm never sure."
"It's fine," he set the plate on the side table and stood up, stretching. "Thank you."
After a couple minutes you found him sitting on the couch in the living room, watching some sort of nature documentary.
He scooted away as you sat down, glaring at you out of the corner of his eye. "Why are you here?"
"I live here," you laughed, "and I like spending time with you."
Wally rolled his eyes but didn't move further away, letting you drape a blanket over his shoulders.
Silently, you got up and wrapped another blanket around him, handing him a mug of tea. "You have a doctor's appointment later."
"Lovely"
~
The hospital was quiet as you walked into the waiting room. Wally glared at the receptionist, frost forming on the crown of his head.
A far too cheerful voice called him back, and you followed, sitting down on the exam bed next to him.
Paper crinkled underneath you as he pulled his knees up to his chest. "I want to go home."
"I know, sweetheart." Slowly, you set your hand on his arm. "I'm sorry."
"Mm."
The door creaked as the doctor walked in, holding a clipboard, and sat down across from you.
Quickly, she scanned her clipboard. "You're here about treatments for greyscale, correct?"
"Yes," you nodded. "I read about medications."
"We only prescribe those if it's severe." She looked over Wally, making a note on her clipboard. "I'd have to examine him first."
Grumbling, he shrank back behind you and glared at her. "No"
"He's, uh, not very good with touch." You twisted to look at him, frowning and touching his arm.
Gently, you ran your fingers through his hair, watching him relax ever so slightly. "Are you sure you don't want the exam?"
"Yes," he swatted your hand away. "I'm sure."
"Okay," you turned back to the doctor. "Are there any other treatments we could do?"
"There is an inpatient program in the city, but that's more of a last resort." She sat down at the desk and typed something on the computer.
Words filled the screen, but you couldn't make any of them out.
She looked over her shoulder. "It's not common that they accept new patients. Are you sure you don't want the medication?"
"Yes," you nodded, sighing softly, "do we—"
"No," Wally shook his head, moving out from behind you. "I'll take the medication."
"Okay, then I'm going to need to do the exam." Nodding, the doctor snapped on some gloves and stood up. "Would you like your...partner to leave?"
"No!" Growling low, he grabbed onto your arm hard enough to make you wince. "Y/N will stay."
"Sure, I'll stay," patting his hand. You watched him stand before getting off the exam table.
Wally glared at the doctor the entire time, not moving an inch except when you told him to.
Keeping a wary eye on him, she backed away and jotted something down. "I-I can send the prescription in today."
"Thanks, it's the bodega on Fifth." You squeezed his hand, letting him grab your arm and pull you out the door.
You managed to pay as he stood over you, looking like some sort of stalker. People stepped away as he dragged you outside, most giving you a concerned glance before rushing off.
~
"Hey," knocking on the bathroom door, you slipped some clothes under and sat down.
Wally had been in there for the past two hours; you had no idea what he was doing, but you were sure it wasn't pretty. "Are you, uh, gonna come out?"
"..."
"Okay, well, I'll be here when you do." The floor was cold under your hands. "Sorry about the exam..."
"..."
"Please come out, Wals," you pressed your head against the door. "I'm really worried."
The shower shut off after a minute of silence. After several more minutes the door opened and Wally stared down at you. "..."
"Thanks." As you got to your feet, you took in his skin, which had been rubbed raw.
Gray rashes covered his skin, and it had cracked and bled in more than one place. Wincing, you reached out before pausing. "Can I?"
"Mmph," he took your hand and followed you into his room. The eczema cream was cold as you patted it in, covering his arms in a thick layer of lotion.
The pink bandages that covered where his skin had cracked turned gray, much to his annoyance. You leaned up and kissed his cheek. "There, all better."
"Hm...thanks." He slid under the covers, leaving just enough space for you to lie down next to him. Frost covered your hair as you curled into his side. "I love you, okay?"
"Mm."
"You don't have to say it back or anything."
"Mhm."
"Okay, well, goodnight." You gave him a quick kiss and shut your eyes. "Wake me up if you can't sleep."
A few hours later, cold hands shook you out of your sleep, and you opened your eyes to find Wally staring holes into you.
His hair fell onto your face as he pulled you onto his chest. "I love you too."
"O-oh, I—" Before you could form a proper sentence, a hand was over your mouth, and he set you back on your side of the bed.
By the time your mind caught up to what was happening, you were sure he was asleep. Lying back down on his chest, you kissed his shoulder and pulled the blanket back over yourself. "Love you too."

The neon lights of Empire City lit the streets around Kevin and Steven as they stood outside, cold air biting at their cheeks.
Steven stared at the glowing 'open' sign of the bar, fidgeting with the fake ID Kevin had given him. "Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Come on," pushing him forward, Kevin handed the bouncer his ID, then Steven's fake one. "Don't you trust me?"
"No."
Loud music enveloped them, and Kevin dragged him to the bar, spinning on the stool. Reluctantly, Steven sat down next to him, staring up at the menu. "Is this really what you do when you get broken up with?"
"Like someone would ever break up with me," he scoffed, ordering two drinks Steven didn't recognize. A cold glass was pushed into his hand, filled with what looked like a slushy. "I---"
"Just try it."
Steven stared into the drink, taking a small sip. It was almost tolerable, almost. His face scrunched up, and Kevin stifled a laugh. "It's not that bad."
"Yes, it is!"
"Fine, I don't know why anyone likes those anyway."
"...can I go home now?"
"No, try mine." Kevin handed him his drink, watching Steven take a tentative sip.
He choked it down, setting the glass on the bar as his throat burned. Coughing, he managed to splutter out a sentence. "What was that?"
"Vodka martini," laughing, Kevin played with his toothpick. "You should've seen your face."
"I'm going home." As soon as he finished coughing, Steven stood up, heading for the door. He ignored Kevin's protests as someone bumped into him, barely apologizing and spilling their drink on his shirt.
Just as he was rounding the corner, someone caught his eye—Connie. She was standing in the doorway with some of her friends from college, ones he barely knew.
Panic surged through him, and he ran back to his stool, almost knocking into someone on the way.
Kevin turned to look at him, half-surprised, half-amused. "Just couldn't stay away from Kevin, huh?"
"Shut up," blushing a glowing pink, Steven ducked his head, watching Connie pass out of the corner of his eyes. Kevin glanced at her, barely recognizing her as she passed. "Is that, uh...Candy—"
"Connie"
"Whatever, the one who broke up with you?"
"Yes."
"Damn," the thought to call her over crossed his mind more than once, but one look at Steven's face made him decide against it. "She's gone now."
Sighing, Steven straightened up, staring into his now melted drink. His reflection seemed to mock him, cheeks still glowing pink.
Across the bar, Connie still caught the corner of his eye, and he felt sick.
The already crowded room seemed to be closing in, and the music dulled in his ears. Kevin was saying something he couldn't make out; everything sounded unintelligible.
In his peripheral vision, she laughed. Shutting his eyes, he grabbed the drink closest to him and downed it, reaching blindly for Kevin's drink too.
When he opened his eyes, another yellow drink was next to him. Didn't he drink that already?
Barely thinking, he drank it, the taste was strange. He turned to ask Kevin what it was, but the world spun and he stumbled out of his seat, managing to make his way into the bathroom.
A minute passed, then two, then five. After ten, Kevin pushed the bathroom door open. "Steven?"
The overhead light flickered, illuminating the empty room. He looked under the empty stalls until he found Steven. The door was halfway locked, giving way when he pulled. "Dude, what the hell?"
Steven groaned, barely looking up from where he was crouched over the toilet. "Muh?"
"...wow, you look awful." The already small stall became tiny with the two of them cramped in it. A soft sound came from Steven as he retched, almost falling.
Rolling his eyes, Kevin knelt down next to him. "You cannot be this much of a lightweight."
"A whuh?"
"Nevermind, let's get you home." He slipped his arm under Steven's shoulders, pulling him upright. "You had, like, two drinks. How did you get so drunk?"
"Three, I think," he slurred, slumping onto Kevin's shoulder. Kevin frowned, helping him stumble out of the bathroom. "Three? What was the third?"
"Dunno," the stool groaned as he fell onto it while Kevin paid. "...it was salty."
"Salty?" Gold glinted off of the card as he tucked it into his wallet, wrapping his arm around his waist.
Someone bumped into them as they made their way out of the bar, and Steven's vision swam, speckled with black spots.
Surprisingly gently, Kevin held him straight and practically carried him outside. "What'd it look like?"
"Huh?" Blinking the black out of his vision, Steven strained to stay upright as his legs gave out under him.
"I said, what did it look like? ...idiot."
"...yello--" before he could finish, he fell forward into the snow. Cold filled his bones, and snow melted into his clothes.
Someone picked him up, and something was wrapped around his neck as his vision went black.
~
The first thing Steven felt when he came to was something cool and silky on top of him. In the background, the sounds of Empire City filled the room.
It took more effort than he expected, but he managed to open his eyes, rolling onto his back. A chandelier hung above him, barely visible in the darkness.
This wasn't the temple...
"Whe—" pain stabbed through his head, and he hissed, shutting his eyes. Someone touched him, and he flinched away.
"Calm down." Kneeling next to the couch, Kevin poked his cheek. "You're in my apartment."
"...Kevin?"
"Psh, as if you wouldn't recognize me."
"Ugh," with lead-filled limbs, Steven forced himself to sit up. Moonlight streamed in through the curtains, illuminating the expensive-looking decor. Something slipped off of him: a blanket. "Why am I here? I have a... nevermind"
"You passed out, remember?" The couch dipped as Kevin sat down next to him. "You're paying for my dry cleaning bill, by the way."
"I told you going to a bar was a bad idea."
"I assumed you knew not to drink random drinks." Rolling his eyes, Kevin stood up and walked over to the fridge. He shoved a bottle of water into Steven's hand. "Drink this; it'll dilute whatever you took. Probably."
"Probably!?"
"Just drink it."
Several minutes passed in awkward silence as Kevin sat back down on the couch. Steven sipped the water, staring down at the patterned carpet as the blanket fell onto the floor. "So...you live here?"
"Yeah..." Water splashed from the bottle onto the couch, making Kevin hiss and grab it from him. "Watch it! This couch costs more than you do."
"Sorry, sorry." He set his hands in his lap, fidgeting with the seam of his pants. Geez, he really was shaking. Was that normal? It didn't feel normal.
Kevin poked his cheek, and when he looked, a camera flash went off. As he blinked the light out of his eyes, he could hear Kevin snickering. "You should see your face!"
"..."
"Here, look." He shoved his phone into Steven's hands. "I'm making this your contact pic."
"..." The photo stared back at him, he looked dazed, pupils blown wide and vacant. He inhaled sharply, setting the phone down with shaking hands. "I—is this normal?"
"Chill, you'll be fine." Taking his phone back, Kevin held the bottle of water up to Steven's lips. "It'll wear off by tomorrow. I hope."
"You hope!?"
"I don't know, I've never drugged someone. Here, have some more water."
Steven drank slowly, trying not to panic. His breathing refused to even out, only getting faster as he tried to calm down.
Cold water splashed onto his shirt, and Kevin was saying something he couldn't understand.
"Steven!" Kevin was practically yelling by the time Steven reacted, turning to stare at him with unseeing eyes. He reached over and touched Steven's cheek. "Breathe, you're fine."
"I'm not fine!" Hot tears ran down Steven's cheeks as he started to sob. Tears dripped down Kevin's hand and soaked into his sleeve.
He glanced around the apartment, grabbing the blanket and draping it over Steven's shoulders. "Okay, you're getting my jacket wet. Can you stop?"
"No, I can't stop!" Cheeks glowing pink, Steven turned and hid his face in Kevin's hand. "I never should have listened to you. You never think of anyone other than yourself..."
"You're not really making me want to help you." Rolling his eyes, Kevin pulled his hand away and wiped it off on his shirt. After several uncomfortable seconds, he pulled Steven into an awkward half-hug. "Here, happy?"
Steven only sobbed louder, wrapping his arms around him and balling his hands in his jacket. Sighing to himself, Kevin reached up and patted his head.
Steven mumbled something unintelligible that he strained to hear. "Dude, what are you talking about?"
The sounds of Empire City filled the silence, the usual honking and traffic sounds broken only by music blasting or yelling from someone on the street.
After several minutes, Steven calmed down and pulled away, wiping tears and snot from his face. Kevin cringed as he looked down at his shirt. Sniffling, Steven wiped at his eyes. "...I don't really want to talk about it."
"I wasn't offering."
"Heh." With an oddly sincere smile, Steven looked up at him. "Thanks."
Blushing dark red, Kevin looked away and covered half his face with his hand. "Stop looking at me like that."
"Like what?"
"Like-- nevermind. If you're done melting down, can I go back to sleep?" Moonlight shone over the couch, illuminating the bags under Steven's eyes. Kevin glanced at him before going back to staring down at the floor. "Geez, you look like you need the sleep more than me."
"I'm—" he cut himself off with a yawn and pulled the blankets closer. "--fine"
"You look like you've got one foot in the grave; it's not very attractive."
Steven groaned and leaned back, covering his eyes with his arm. After a few minutes, his breathing evened out, and he went silent, slumping onto Kevin's shoulder. Kevin poked his cheek. "Steven?"
No response, Steven just slumped further and fell onto Kevin's lap, head on his thighs. Soft snoring filled the room, and glowing pink blush dusted his cheeks.
Kevin sighed and leaned his head onto the backrest, running his hand through Steven's hair. "If this messes up my hair..."
"Mmm," Steven mumbled something, barely awake. "Goodnight."
“It doesn’t need to be perfect, it doesn’t need to even be good, I just need to get it done.” Was the spirit of this project. After years of perfectionism, and making little to no art and writing at all, the idea for Your Green Palm in Mine hit me like a freight train and I somehow managed to produce all this. I never initially expected to actually finish it- much less make it as long as I did, but yet! Here it stands, completed, 3 times the length of its original draft, 9 months later. The community that has grown and flourished from this project has (damn I keep saying this) surpassed my wildest dreams! And so thank you! Thank you. For reading! For your support! For all of your love. I have always wanted to impact people, and I never thought I could, or would be able to, but here we are! Thousands of you! Thousands of people who have resonated with my story and the themes I wanted to express. You have all been amazing. This won’t be end of the rocks. I’ll keep posting about them here now and again, and one day, I may come back and make another serialized comic about them again. “Bracelets” is currently in pre production! But for now, I need to let them rest.
To see my other work and comics I’ll be making, go to my main, @thefaeriemerchant ! I also have a Discord Server that I talk and share my work in- I absolutely adore the community we’ve grown there. Come to meet new people! Rant about the shows you like! Share your ocs! Share your pets! Each weekend we do a watchparty- currently, we’re finishing up Steven Universe. I’d love to see you there!
That is all, Dantès

Would Steven learn to shapeshift in this AU, would he even have a bit more of an advantage due to what we know about Yellow's powers. While I am sure it is still on the same level and expectancy as canon Steven's limited shapeshifting I can see Yellow Steven having just a bit or slight advantage/buff due to some of Yellow's powers.
Oh yeah, he know how to shapeshift early on as well as fusion. Hes more advanced than SU Steven at the same age.
It would be v e r y funny for him to cry or sneeze and just
