For my brotherās exams
I am pretty sure some people in our class think we are dating :))))Ā
OK
Iām thinking about taking the USMLEĀ
āI didnāt studyā; translation by house:
Gryffindor: literally. Did not pick up a pen. Probably I slept in class. Someone takes notes for me.
Slytherin: I re-read all my notes like a mad man. Hours pouring over supplemental readings. Iāve drank so much coffee. So much. I donāt want to look like an anxiety ridden nerd though.
Hufflepuff: Me nā the other puffs brought our notes and books down by the lake and sheafed through āem. Mostly drank butterbeer. Weāre not too worried though, we pay attention in class.
Ravenclaw: ALL NIGHTER MOTHERFUCKER I GOT HOBBIES AND WE LIVE IN A MAGICAL FUCKING CASTLE OF ENDLESS MYSTERY THE HELL YOU MEAN STUDY WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT
14th October, 2016
Itās been 2 weeks that I have been dating this very nice/cool guy and it is going pretty well. Last night I had one very very soothing dream. I woke up feeling all happy, all warm and peaceful. This gif is to describe my dream.Ā
So we were somewhere in the city it was really sunny but we went to a place, it had very warm tones on the walls and RAINING. But not like the bad little rain that sticks to your face, actual rain. Then the music started, very very strong music, you know the kind of powerful music that can be at some points in movies? (the song I have in mind that comes closer to the feeling I had when Iw as listening to the music in my dream is Lost On You by LP) SO we started dancing. Not together together as people may dance in movies when a slow starts playing but more as in a contemporary/ballet way (I donāt do ballet but I nailed my arabesque in the dream which I am very proud of hahaha). It was a perfect moment, the music, the dance, almost as if it were taken out from a movie.Ā
You know the feeling the character has in this gif? Itās pretty much the same I had in my dream but we were actually dancing not just playing in the rain!Ā
There was so much harmony and that is why I woke up happy and peaceful.
Reblogging this because I want to meet guys who can actually dance and lead a dance. Last time I was in a club I had the best time of my life because the guy I was dancing with was a really really good dancer. Iām even thinking about taking dance classes but Iām definitely not going to have time to do so next year or the year after (bc step????). Or I might try to dance more often with guys (trying to find the least drunk/horny) when I go clubbing with my girl friends (bc in my group of friends there are 0 boys who go clubbing w/us)
So I used to have a Russian friend who had a pretty thick accent and like a lot of Russians tended to eschew articles. She would say things like āGet in car.ā And stuff.
Well one day this asshole who had been kind of tagging along with us asks her why she talks like that because it makes her sound dumb and I still remember her response word for word.
āMe? Dumb? Maybe in America you have to say get in THE car because you are so stupid that people might just get in random car, but in Russia we donāt need to say that. We just fucking know because we are not stupid.ā
One time I was proof reading a paper for a Russian student. As I was correcting her paper with her, the many mistakes in her grammar started weighing on her. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, almost sobbing,
āIn Russian I am so intelligent and clear. In English I am like [an] idiotā
Respect to anyone trying to master a foreign language. I get so sad thinking about that student.
Most people just donāt realize that people who speak a language with an accent, are fucking fluent in a 10000x more difficult language. Just respect other people. It aināt that hard.
Submitted without comment.
No, wait. Not without comment.
Iām tired of uninformed Americans slamming the NHS because they see anything apart from āevery man for himselfā as evil socialism. Looking after each other is not sinister.
The NHS receives a fraction of the money per person that US healthcare receives. Do you have any idea how amazing the NHS would be if we paid 3 times more into it? i.e. what the US is paying right now? I canāt even imagine what we could do with that much money in the NHS.
So Iām tired of US commenters who ignore this side of their own service whilst blasting services that, whilst imperfect, donāt feature *this* as a daily occurrence. Who ignore that their own compatriots bankrupt themselves and their families to survive. Who are fighting right now to take even more coverage away. This is wrong. It is not normal. It does not have to be this way. And I resent any attempts to normalise a system like this, or minimise the unfairness it reresents.
Iām furious that anybody fights against the idea that all people deserve healthcare. That nobody should die because they canāt afford treatment.
Nobody should ever have to regret receiving lifesaving care; this is a symptom of a system which does not work for the benefit of its patients.
Yes!!!!! Everything the fabulous @dxmedstudent said and more. I see several reasons for this. 1) the US government does not regulate the ridiculous price gouging of Big Pharma. No regulations means ridiculous costs. Cannot get your preventative meds because of how expensive they are even IF you have insurance? Well fuck you. Watch as you now have to go to the ED for something that would have not been a problem had you been able to pay for your meds. So much more expensive for both patient and insurance in the long run. 2) The vast amount of insurance companies that are for profit. Companies create networks where you are only allowed to see a provider if they have an agreement with your insurance company. Need to see a specialist in something very specific? Better hope the specialist you need is in network, otherwise YOU have to eat the bill because insurance wonāt pay it. Have an emergency and you are taken to an out of network trauma facility? Tough shit for you buddy. 3) The vast majority of medical spending doesnāt go to any of the people providing care, it goes to the middle men. Billing departments. Accounting departments. The obnoxious amount of time wasted by office staff trying to make sure people get paid. A whole separate industry exists dealing just with this. Hospital administrators. People with MBAs who are in managerial positions in healthcare. They came about when people realized they could create a way to shove another person into the mix of hospitals (I actually am impressed as to how these people have come to make themselves essential in a system that they complicated in order to make jobs in the first place). 4) EMRs are glorified billing platforms (I will fight anyone on this issue). They are designed largely to make coding and billing easier which takes up a lot of time. There is SO much more time spent doing work on electronic records. Talking to old school physicians about it, they said even when they had to hand write all their notes, it did not take up nearly as much of their work hours as now. Donāt forget, software costs money and needs to be maintained. And since there is no one central system used in the US (every hospital/clinic/network gets to pick their own EMR software), then there is no way to potentially review all of a patientās record if they did not get all their service from the same provider system. 5) Skilled nursing facilities and home health care are not affordable for a lot of people who need those services. Which means they cannot be discharged. These patients take up valuable resources, space, and donāt always have the ability to pay. If the hospital ends up writing off their bill (for example, if they have no source of income or financial support per their tax return) then that cost gets pumped up to the at cost price for everyone else. 6) Individual consumers cannot negotiate a price adjustment for themselves (what insurance companies get to do). Often times, when looking at a medical bill, insurance will get an āadjustmentā, or the discounted price they receive by having a written agreement with the provider, and then a āpaidā amount, which is what the insurance has already paid. Depending on your plan (better coverage is more expensive donāt forget) that could lead to you, the patient, STILL having to pay an unreasonable amount. These are only the problems I could think of off the top of my head from my own personal experience and from reading I have down. Feel free to goggle anything and let me know if I am wrong. Iāll wait. Just like all the people in this country waiting to get medical care because it is unaffordable to the vast majority. TL;DR the US has major issues when it comes to the cost of medical care. āCapitalismā in this country has created a āme first and only, fuck everyone who isnāt like meā culture, which is how elected officials think it is a good idea to propose laws that will literally lead to the deaths of their revenue streams.
Underweight?
People keep telling me that I have to gain weight but I feel good in my body. A few months ago I did feel skinnier than Iāve ever been (I sayĀ āfeelā because I didnāt find myself skinny in the mirror but I could feel that my shoulder girdle or my ribs were more prominent). I probably had my lowest total body fat % at that time. Since I gained more fat so I feel my bones less than I used to 2 months ago.
Now! Am I underweight? NO I AM NOT. Do I have a healthy BMI? Yes I do. A healthy BMI is between 18,5 and 25. As people describe me as skinny I am obviously in the lower end of the healthy BMI but still in the range. But then the BMI doesnāt completely indicate how healthy or unhealthy you are because I know that if I eat burgers 3 times a week my triglycerides and cholesterol will spike but I will still be in this lower end.Ā
So letās stop focusing on numbers and on the way others see you and describe your body and letās start focusing on how you feel and how you fuel your body.
āI saw you leaving the club but when I got in you paused for a while and came back in
-Mmm yeah because I thought you were someone else. Also when I was looking at you with my friends itās because I thought you were someone my friend was waiting for. But we didnāt really know what the guy looked like. I knew that you were gonna think that I was looking at you
-well you were
-yeah but not really because I thought I was looking at someone elseā
