would you be open to explaining a little more on the difference between decriminalizing vs legalizing sex? i know there’s a distinction and i read your tags on another ask but I’d love to know more/why decriminalizing is better. no worries if not i know ur not a teacher lol

the long and short of it is that legalization means gov/police involvement whereas decrim means we are free to work without fear of penalty. to be blunt cops rape and murder us a lot so any path that reduces our exposure to them is a safer one for us. on top of that you can look at legal brothels in places like nevada and see pretty clearly that involvement of the law has not protected those workers from exploitation just locked them into narrower avenues. dont even get me started on the nordic model. in a city where its decriminalized my professional peers and I have a lot more options in terms of how we meet clients, how we keep ourselves safe and how we charge.

I worked in this city before it was decriminalized. the spa I worked at was raided by cops ( who had already been paid off) at least 3 times while I was there. the weight off my shoulders being able to work without the fear of state sanctioned assault and ending up an 'NHI' hanging over me is priceless.

every so often i see notifs of my first ever Anat piece reblogged (nice!!!) and i Must put an addendum here: ive since improved my research and scholarship in the 2 years since making this and have amended that she Was Not a sexual love/fertility goddess even if she had a sexual aspect, as it feeds into a bizarre trend of trying to shave down every ancient east Mediterranean/Mesopotamian/Southwest Asian/North African female deity into the same prototype of Ishtar-Innana. which isnt to say that the Ishtar-Innana sexual love/war thing is any less cool or correct, it is! its just a very interesting and now irritating concept i see reused Constantly in scholarship and online conversations alike, and it peeves me for not realizing it sooner. so this is my formal (/joke) apology and revision of the claim, since I generally interpret 'Anat to be more representative of the messy, violent, destructive emotional love now (still cool) since her sex-gender-expression is so fascinatingly complex that I think trying to shove her into the female deity=sexual fertility niche is reductive and generally less cool.

Not to start discourse but I will be forever mad that every time I go into the Goncharov tag I see people complaining that they watched the movie expecting a soft queer romcom about pure cinnamon rolls and instead they got a complex and violent film about deeply flawed people where everyone dies.

By all means, engage in fandom however you choose. But don’t blame the source material for not being consistent with some random fanon on tumblr. Kinda wild to get mad that the movie about violent, morally dark grey criminals has violence, crime and moral greyness in it. You know? Also, imho given the time this movie was made, the queer coding was daring; this is NOT an example of queerbaiting.

The simurgh is frequently depicted as a winged creature, large enough to carry an elephant or a whale, with the body of a peacock, head of a dog, and claws of lions. Sometimes, it has a human face. It is old enough that it 'had seen the destruction of the world three times over'. It also plunges itself into flames every 1,700 years, similar to phoenixes.

Abul-Qâsem Ferdowsi Tusi (940-ابوالقاسم فردوسی توسی 1019/1025), also Firdawsi or Ferdowsi (فردوسی) wrote the most famous story about the simurgh in his Shahnameh (Book of Kings). In it, a prince named Zal, son of Saam, was born albino, causing his father to cast him out, believing him to be demonic. A simurgh rescues him and raises him, teaching him wisdom as they have all knowledge. When Sal was old enough, he wanted to rejoing humanity and the simurgh and the simurgh gave him three feathers to call her should he need her help. He married a woman named Rudaba who had a difficult labor with their first child. The simurgh responded to his call for help and taught him to perform a cesarean section.
