He has no energy left to be despairing or angry at his circumstances. He still doesn’t want to believe it, but the reality has been knocked into him so forcefully that he has no choice anymore. But the pain from his fake father and the fake trauma from everything he’s seen in the fake robot fighting the fake Angels feels very, very real — if anything, it hurts more knowing that people reveled in his suffering.

This newest creation’s been one of the angrier ones, and that makes sense, really--Takashi remembers when Neon Genesis Evangelion first hit airwaves, when it changed the way people viewed mecha anime. However, he truly knows the least about Shinji; Takashi’s in a different generation of creators. But the boy deserves some comfort.
