Yesterday I knit for almost the entire duration (6hrs) of getting my first tattoo. I cast on a new sock at the start and was able to get nearly halfway down the foot.

My tattoo itself is inspired by John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. I shortened the quote, “And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good,” and incorporated a snake to represent the snake in the garden of Eden. My artist, Estefani, did a wonderful job at bringing my idea to life.

I love a good handknit black tee for the warmer months.

I’ve already gotten a lot of wear out of this one and I have a feeling I’ll be getting even more wear out of it this summer. I love the fit of it and would love to knit one with long sleeves for cooler weather. Soomin is such a great designer and I’ve loved every single one of their patterns I’ve knit.

The test call for this one came just as I was itching to knit some cables. This pattern was a joy to knit and I had a great time purposefully dropping so many stitches.

I’ve already soaked the stained areas in vinegar and peroxide before washing with dawn dish soap. Later today I’ll be testing color-safe bleach and color-safe stain remover.

My dad is now the proud owner of a navy blue sweater vest that he can wear golfing.

One of my first ever garments that I knit was a navy blue sweater vest. When he saw me wear it for the first time, my dad said that he would love to have a navy blue sweater vest that he can wear golfing. This all happened five years ago. Finding a pattern that he likes that also goes up to the equivalent of a men’s 2xl was a bit of a challenge. Once I found a pattern he liked and that I was willing to knit, he bought the yarn. Now, after many years of waiting, he has his vest.

Today’s also his birthday.

Shout out to Steve, my dad’s golf buddy, for taking the picture. Steve bakes a mean biscuit that has won many ribbons in the county fair.
