i had absent and shitty parents when i was a kid and frequently bugged my neighbors to feed me and pay attention to me, and there was a very old Korean man who lived across the street named Mr Dunn. He didn’t really speak English but he would play with me in his yard and feed me candies and vegetables and i really liked him. his wife passed years earlier and he had adult kids who never came around.

i remember when he died, it was the first death i experienced and he left me his lava lamp collection in his will. little six year old me was written into his will and gifted his vintage lava lamps. i hope he knows its been 20 years and i still hold the memory of him very fondly in my hands
