partly inspired by this one post i saw/reblogged (i cant remember) talking about how stupid those posts along the lines of "[mlp character] hates [identity label]s" are and partly inspired by me being angry at a bigoted mlp fan i came across in the wild
the term "new radqueer" does not have a specific stance on contact for a reason.
Ïro-contacts founded the community, and they were here first.
leaving the community or turning the community away because of Ïro-contacts being in it is counterproductive.
you can be anti-Ïontact in the rqc, as long as you are respectful of all contact stances (including Ïro-contacts).
being Ïro-contact does not automatically mean someone is having contact for their philias, and it doesn't automatically make them an abuser.
harassing and disowning Ïro-contacts makes you no better than antis.
be respectful. you don't have to interact with us, or be buddy-buddy with us. all we ask is that you stop harassing us and treat us with basic human decency.
we are not that different from you. everybody, of every contact stance, likely feels the same as you do. we all want what's good and healthy for the vulnerable groups in society. remember that before you type that hateful post, or raid that discord server. <3
typical occurrence for a tumblr user to be crying out "QUIT TELLIN PEOPLE WE ALL DIED" like there is def still a mogai community out there but for the most part the average person just kinda. either got with it and added a xenogender or whatever to their label hoard or just kinda shut up about it and moved on with their life. so it stopped being a big name in the discourse world bc everyone just kinda grew tf up
rbing to my serious topic blog but like... yeah. i was saying that a lot on cohost (back when cohost was a thing) that like, it's very likely thats gonna be the path- in fact it currently kinda IS the path. except a little different.
people ARE discovering "oh shit wait but i relate to these terms" and because of that, doing some really weird shit and just remaking "non transid equivalent" terms
the catch is, those terms are almost always anti-transition
i feel like 2 things could happen
from this, people who use the alternative labels will find out "wait being in such a transphobic environment is like actually suffocating me" and...
they could move to the original labels they scorned and called bad having found out they actually do agree with them. a lot of pain for what but hey at least its over
... it goes the way of 2010s bi vs pan discourse. an label is re-defined as evil ("bisexuality means 2 so its transphobic! here's a label that's inclusive instead.") and projected in queer media as such, while the "not flawed" label is praised as having defeated the other "backwards" one. a few years pass and people deny it happening despite hard evidence, and the drama is over with 2 labels that mean functionally the exact same thing, with the only difference being history of accusation of crime and/or bigotry. this one seems pretty likely to me because time is a flat circle. in the end, just like with "bi vs pan" it will end up.. fine. just 2 labels that mean the same thing more or less. im moreso worried about the denial that comes with it or the inability to criticize the way the queer community often works like this under the idea that it is invalidating. im worried with how much even pro-transid people pick up terminology used by people who are anti-transid transphobes such as the blatantly disgusting but impossible to avoid "atypical dysphoria". im worried language will shift to favor the bigot and then the bigot will deny any wrongdoing instead of going "im sorry i said that. im still more comfortable with this label but i understand the reason i prefer my label is the pain i caused you." it's also similar to the anti-xenogender and neo-pronoun discourse because bloggers who were super bigoted end up denying they ever were and thus repeating the exact same mistake.
once again, because i always need to be on my toes that someone will try to say my reference to something that simply happened is me being against anything- im not. obviously its a good thing people grew out of their transmed phase and good for them if they decided the cloudgender sun/sunself people they made fun of for months and months is actually where they belong but the denial mixed with entitlement to control spaces they did not belong to until like 6 seconds ago and then repeat the cycle... bothers me! and its a common problem here on tumblr when these waves of hate come and go! and considering we are MORE RIGHT LEANING THAN WE WERE 10 YEARS AGO... YEAH!
im scared its gonna go worse than we have seen in the past, espessially with a wider range of identities. you already see people who have bios that say theyre pro every transid- except repulsive transracials of course! and i mean you can clearly see these blogs for like the last 2 or 3 years of the transid community on here. or, people who go "uhmmm im pro transid i guess but they cant transition and have to repeat to me every few days they know that they arent valid :/" and these people are just... considered in the right!
there's a blogger on here who commit suicide due to tracism (confirmed, not just "ok i die now bleh") which is not a rare occurrence as the queer community should know with transness and dysphoria and social prejudice, and the people who did all that stuff are likely... what? 3 or 5 years down the line? just gonna be out there calling themselves the same label and claiming they joined the community in 2021 and should be respected as long term 'elders' to the scene who are the authority on whats okay? how many of the people who mistreated me will deny it happening in the future while standing shoulder to shoulder with me under the same label?
but hey, i suppose the secret third thing could always happen because tumblr is so in the shitter right now over GENDER CONFOMRING TRANS BINARY PEOPLE that considering any kindness towards transid people outside of literally "boy or girl" may be a complete pipe dream considering how many bloggers are CURRENTLY STUCK ON BOYS VS GIRLS. how on fucking earth was 2014 more progressive than now
